  • This is a great video. I'm interested in making my own soaps because I've grown tired of artificial ingredients and toxic chemicals in regular soap. Also, this will help me to become more self-sufficient and save money. I think you took some great precautions by wearing the gloves. I saw another video and the lady wasn't wearing gloves while using the lye.

  • can you tell me please the quantityes of the ingredients? i don't realy know how much to add of each ingredient,so please can you tell me? in OZ,if you can, NaOH,Water,Oils,Thankyou

  • So nice of you to share this information with everyone. I just love your soft, kind voice and upbeat enthusiasm.

  • I'm getting ready to make my first batch of soap, I've never done it before, but I've watched your videos over and over to make sure I have the process completely right. The only thing I'm curious about is how do you clean up everything once you're done? I know you're not suppose to add water to lye, so when you go to wash the container you weighed the lye out in, how do you do it? Do you run it under a stream of cold water before you wash it with dish soap or some other method?

  • Hi helen,I never made soap before and want to make just plain old grandma's lye soap for laundry. My mom made them yrs ago when we were little. So never learned how.But remember her making the huge batches and grating them for the laundry.Which would be the best recipe for the laundry one do you think? Thanks in advance.I too am a novice and like your video's.As it is more complete for us beginners. Thanks so much for sharing and helping us all out.

  • Another quick question...when taking into account the cost of supplies, the time it takes and all the other overhead factors, do you find it's actually worth the time and money to make soaps to sell? I know you have to keep in mind the fun and hobby aspect of it, but if someone were to get into the hobby as a money maker rather than just a hobby/gift giving venture, do you think it would actually pay off? What are your experiences?

  • I know it's probably hard to say, but in general, where do you find is the most resonable place to purchase your soap making supplies such as the hard oils, etc.? This was a very well made video - the best thing about it is the speed and it's the fact that it actually is COMPLETE, so many tutorials seem to assume you know the details and only seem to cover the basics. The details are the most important part. Thanks so much! :)

  • @WickedOneVA The most reasonable place I have found for supplies has been soaper's choice, they are located in Ohio, which is not bad for me as far as shipping because I am in NJ. But there are other supplies on the West Coast and the Midwest because shipping is a concern especially when ordering supplies in bulk.

  • I am making my third batch of Crock Pot soap and I have had your video playing all three times. One of the most informative I have seen. Thanks for sharing.

  • @sphillips611 Aww, this is such a HUGE compliment! Thank you so much!

  • Made my first hot process soap today because of you. It turned out great

  • @nickandsal001 Congrats! :)

  • What exactly is the zap test?

  • @Carameldoll85 Basically, after the soap has cooked and has reached the Vaseline stage, you take a little bit of soap, I use a butter-knife and let it cool for a min, then take the soap and put it on your tongue, if you get ZAPPED the soap is lye heavy and needs to cook a little longer. I have been told the zap is equivalent to a 9V battery, as someone who has been zapped before, I liken it more to a jolt from a live wire! I will never make that mistake again LOL

  • Thank you for the video! I just started making my first batch of HP soap. I hope it turns out good.

  • I tried this, but it never turned into itself again. and zapped me when I tested it. What should I do? I still put it into the mold and I guess I'll let it cure for a while.

  • @KristyStarFire I am sorry to just be seeing this question today, but what you stated was fine. You could just allow the soap to cure longer or in the future if you are zapped just cook to soap for 10 minutes longer then repeat the zap test before putting in the mold.

  • Love this! I have to try this at some point!!! I did buy my crock pot, but that's as far as i have got! I'm a bit scared of using lye if i'm honest! =)

  • Thank you sooooo much for making this video!! I can't wait to try it tomorrow :)

  • @wahinepaddler4 You are welcome! Please let me know how the soap comes out!

  • wow i cant wait to try that :)

  • @MyPinkDreams1 Let me know how it comes out! :)
