  • all i keep wondering is how she managed to keep her eyes opened that long without flinching !!

  • it sounds like someone slicing a watermelon

  • Bitch, who flushes away paper. Wasting fucking paper,

  • and that is why I lock the door when I take a shower

  • thats chocolate (: haha

  • SO HILARIOUS I CANT EVEN :')

  • Why would you get in the shower and then turn the water on? Nobody likes a cold shower.

  • Cracked? You know what you doing !!

  • MOM! I'M HOME!

  • This movie was scary 50 years ago. By today's standards, this is some weak shit. If you're 70 years old, you can appreciate the film I suppose. If you're 25 years old, then shut your goddamn cake hole. Norman Bates killed what? 4 people? That ain't scary. That's poor hotel location.

  • @lathumpipe He killed 2 people.

The bit with the detective made moi jump lol.

  • @kildare97 Plus the mom and her lover. So amateur for a legendary murderer. Michael Myers has at least 5 victims in his colon.

  • @lathumpipe bro..this movie is Briliant..i just watched 1 hour ago for

first time in my life..who cares about how many vectoms?

this movie is Clever..Thrill.. Psychological horror

    watch it again

  • Props if Mike Mozart sent you here.

  • Best. Thriller. Ever.

  • AMAZING! BRAVO!

  • Heuser sent me.

  • This is so terrifying, and yet you don't see the knife pierce her flesh once.

That's how to make a movie.

  • @saltypop13 A frame by frame analysis shows that a knife is indeed shown piercing Leigh's abdomen, although it was in fact a prosthetic prop.

  • Now i need to lock my bathroon door from now on...

  • 1:36 JEEZUZ

  • I find this easy to masturbate to...

  • Its more realistic stabbing than new movies they stabbed a melon to give resistance to the knife

  • Great , now I have to lock the door every time I go to the shower

  • I love a good classic film as much as the next person, but I'm thankful some actors and actresses who fake dying are more believable these days. Gotta love the classic beautiful naked (or sometimes half naked) chick getting stabbed :D

  • If I was Norman, I would rape her before slicing her body.

  • Yeah! Flush that paper down the toilet! 0:34 to 0:37

  • In the novel Norman Bates decapitates her instead of just stabbing her. Makes me want to read it.

  • oh my god

    it´s so shocking.

So shocking that i have to jerk off. OH MY GOD!!!!!aarrrr

  • First, there is no denying that Janet Leigh is smoking hot. Also, Hitchcock is one of best directors in history and this is one the great films of cinema. But something always bothered me about this scene. How many people stand right under the shower when they turn it on? The water is usually ice cold when you first turn it on.I would jump ten feet into the air if I got hit with that cold water.Janet was a helluva an actress to take that cold stream of water right to the chest and not even flinch.

  • @fakeyf9 Could they have had the hot water running before they made this scene, so when she got in it wouldn't be cold?

  • When I watched this for the first time, it genuinely bothered me how much water was being wasted. Idek.

  • Another good reason why you should lock your bathroom door...

  • No blood, no stab wounds, unrealistic stabbing. Ah, oldies.

  • Psycho and The Shining are one of the best horror movies ever made.

  • In movies, people never use soap when taking showers. Like wtf?

  • I thought I was going to be scared more, but no. Well now I am scared to take a shower lol

  • Well this clip was very interesting indeed, but I really have to go and take a bath now. See you not!

  • 2:28 I think they put one past the censors there...

  • I remember studying this in English last year--such a classic and great film :D

  • They don't make movies like they used to. 99% of modern movies are just absolute garbage! This film will endure for many more years still....

  • They have that shower in madam lau whatever in Hollywood

  • 2:37 fuckin period >__>

  • nice blood and wound effects

  • I'm a terrible person, but it looks like she's having a seizure. I laughed so hard I nearly cried.

  • Psycho 1960 said:I kill that women!!! Psycho 1998 said:Women I have ketchup in the knife hello!!

  • @didimun So. English not your native language?

  • @Nyxiebunny Oh....Sorry for my bad english...My native language is spanish and I am in a bilingual school

  • this scene is one hell of an awesome scene

  • I was named after the girl who get killed in this scene "Leigh" is my middle name

  • I was named after the girl who did this scene my middle name is Leigh

  • ''They're coming to get you, Barb--'' Whoops wrong movie!

  • my video teacher told me that the shower head at 1:02 was actually this big shower head they built so it wouldn't poor water on to the camera. you'd think "wow that really cool!" but that shot lasted for a second, sounds like a stupid waste of time lol!

  • This track is a ringtone when my mother in law calls (;

  • @baba23763

    lmao....

  • we have come a long way folks

  • 96 people were stabbed in the shower by Norman Bates

  • I know she got killed but it looked like she was enjoying the shower until then

  • They say it took one week to make this scene. The blood was chocolate syrup. And it only took just 45 seconds. It was taboo on two fronts; nudity was a no-no in 1960, and the lead actress dies onec third into the film.

  • Classic!!!! Cliche' to say this, but this movie did make me scared to shower. Especially at night while I was home by myself. Sure, it's pretty darn tame by today's standards but this was/is a very effective, shocking, and surprising scene for it's time. Hitchcock is a pure genius! Still kinda creepy even today.

  • Quite along way from Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

  • Somehow... I was expecting more.

  • im sorry, but is it wrong that I laughed?

  • It doesn't have any blood on the knife

  • I used to shower like her, but then i took a knive to the chest.

(why am i even doing this to myself?I'm sorry about that.)

  • wasteful bitch. She left the water running.

  • @PheleMephisto well she died

  • @PheleMephisto Shut up.

  • Praise the Movieeffects from today

  • Is This Pose Too Be Scaredd

  • @12likewowable

Actually, it's supposed to be scary. It was made in 1960. 51 (soon to be 52) years ago.

  • She might have fooled Norman but she didn't fool his mother. ha

  • who else thinks the 1998 version of this movie sucks?

  • @kyutboi123

Most remakes do. Perkins will forever be the one and only Norman Bates. There isn't a single actor who can replace him. It just doesn't feel the same if another actor tries to be Bates. Henry Thomas could pull young Norman but thats about it. Hollywood should leave the classics alone.

  • I just took a shower.......

  • oh noooooooeeeeeeessss tear- :(

  • I'm using this as my excuse to not take a shower. Lol.

    Excellent classic movie btw.

  • After this I will never use a shower in a hotel again ^^

  • 1:52 orgasmo

  • @Colpetne Same here! Everyone I know is always shooting down movies if the effects aren't up to date! Sometimes it's just the thought of it happening that makes it scary, you don't need million dollar effects to make somthing scary. For cryin out loud.

  • Time to take a shower!

  • Thumbs up if ur scared to shower now :O

  • uuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • Every time I am in a shower in a motel I always make sure No one is sneakin up on me

  • they was filming the movie in 4 weeks, the shower scene took them one week, HUGE WORK

  • THIS IS SO BAD.

  • where's the blood ???

  • im never showering agin

  • dem angles

  • sweet

  • saw this from 9gag

  • Why the hell am I watching this alone at night?

  • 9GAG

  • She was alive for ages after being stabbed nearly 10 times

  • I hate these kind of movies because the things that happen in them can actually happen in real life :O

  • @KaptenHubbaBubba oh they have dozens of times, maybe even hundreds. and much worse, just avoid motels ; )

  • 1:03, how did they film the shot without the camera lens getting wet?

  • @MrMatthewEx the streams were pointing away from the middle see?

  • @jimbobhk2009 even so when your in the shower the middle of it is still wet and the water would fall as the angle of the shower was almost horizontal. Even the very small particle of water would ruin a shot like that.

  • @MrMatthewEx what the hell are u talking about

  • @MrMatthewEx They used a long telephoto lens, from from the shower, and then they blocked out the inner holes spraying water so only the outer ones remained making it look like the water is hitting the lens but it is actually going around the lens.

  • @flemishguy You seemed to be right, it makes sense so I tried it myself. had a few bad shots with water on the lens. Probably because my shower is different from this one. onto the next movie magic mystery

  • it took seven days to shoot this scene

  • its dosnt show her wounds but u get the point

  • The moral: Always lock your bathroom door!

  • Without sound,this isn,t scary

  • there is no way she stepped into that shower with instant hot water.

  • henk

  • Anyone whos scared to take showers now don't be- lol it's a movie

    Check out ....

    tobythebox

    tre davis

Or laura5382??? I think probs not correct #s

    :))

  • Watching this made me scared to take a shower D:

  • I havent see this in a while what was the numbers she wrote on the paper and why did she rip it up and flush it?

  • First movie to flush a toilet no joke (:

  • @Mexiboi10 YESS!!!!!!

  • did you know? the blood was actually chocolate syrup.. :3 no joke.

  • Shit a Brick

  • Can somebody please explain how hitchcock got that wonderful shot of the camera looking up at the shower head without the camera getting wet.

  • @Rogerwatersismyg0d He used a six-foot wide shower head (made specially) in order for the water to fall AROUND the camera lense. :]

  • holy shit, even i felt the knife! This just goes to prove you don;t even need color, worse those cheesy cgi heads flying around, there was hardly anyblood but the human mind is made to think fast, knife, stabbing motions and sounds, a bit of "blood" BOOM perfect way to make someone uncomfortable vs. guy comes with a machete or chainsaw, blood flying everyone, you see boobs if not the whole girl, more blood splattered, maybe body parts and guts, TOO MUCH! I miss old school horror...

  • Theres nothing like the FIRST time you see Psycho. First time is the best.

  • I also felt cheated to lose Janet Leigh so early in the film.

  • im removing my shower

  • I'm not going into the shower for days maybe weeks or months o.O

  • does that music in minute 1:36 has a name?

  • @boricua8692

Yes; in the soundtrack, it's called 'The Murder'.

  • This movie is from 1953 don't blame the special effects.

R.I.P A.Hitchcock, Pioneer of horror movies.

  • @CrazyGeistProduction the book was written in 1953 but the movie was not made til 1960.

  • @CrazyGeistProduction Released in the summer of 1960 this film.

  • @CrazyGeistProduction

    It's from 1960.

  • ill screm like HELL if i got stapped with a knife, shes sounding like it doesnt hurt

  • The main reason why this scene was famous and spread all around unlike other horror movies wasn't because of the blsck and white or the bad effects, it was because it was the first scene to make you uncomfortable in the bathroom which is your safe place and inner sanctum

  • @MrDonkavitch oh so true. plus, Janet Leigh was "supposed" to be the main character. She was very famous, and everybody expected to see her in the film. But you just got to love Hitchcock for killing her right in the beginning. haha. genius!

  • I have never seen this movie and this is the first time I've ever viewed the full scene. But somehow I've absorbed it from popular culture and because of it I am still afraid that someone will come stab me in the shower. This is one of the most frightening scenes ever and it inspires way more revulsion and fear than other 'slashers'.

I was just about to shower, but I think I'd rather wait till the morning...

  • 1:58 i'm sick of people what a night

  • I was actually surprised in my English class that i enjoyed this lol

  • Got milk?

  • 1. Who smiles while showering?

    2. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen. XD

  • Great scene from one of the best movies ever by the way I'm sick of people talking about special effects in this it's annoying that to lots of people special effects are the only things that make movies good

  • @colpetne To be fair, SFX are the only thing that make Michael Bay movies good. Hitchcock films don't need SFX to pwn, though.

  • @colpetne no its because this was made in the early 60s not because they dont care about special effects

  • @colpetne And why does it matter to you what kind of criteria someone else uses to determine whether or not something is "good" to them?

  • if he stabbed her back, where's the trail of the blood on the wall when she slid down? XD

    ahh.... 60s movies

  • Classic scene, one of my favourite. I actually did a remake of this scene where I switched the genders of the characters to make the killer female. Any feedback, positive or negative, would be greatly appreciated. Just wanna see what people think. Thanks!

  • NOT scary at all...

  • @elderaarondavis1 That's because unlike most horror movies, you have to actually watch the movie for it to mean something.

  • @elderaarondavis1 Watch the movie and you'll see the special effects are not what is supposed to scare you. The suspense and dialogue is what is supposed to scare you. The ending alone is what freaked me out. Watch it at night till the end with no one around and you will be freaked.

  • lol, I thought she didn't shut the door at first... :P I might would have locked the door too... and it must have been easy to break into someone's house or an hotel room back in the 1960s...

  • @NiceCake2234 the movie was filmed in 1959 and released in 1960; the book it was based on was published in 1953. So it's not a 60s setting

  • Did you know that the blood is actually chocolate syrup

  • @happysweetlove I'm only looking at this video because I heard about that. xD I also didn't know about this at all until I saw a scream vid using a still from this video. I recognized it when I looked up this video.

  • Based on Ed Gein's crimes, this scene reflects Gein's hatred of women. Of how his mother abused him all his life but he still loved her, despite of it all. Janet Leigh represents Mary Hogan the tavern owner Gein murdered, who looked like his mother but behaved in a much different manner.

  • 2:10 - Someone is stoned!

  • the best part is where the girl gets stabbed!

    ......oh, wait....

  • @smash44556677 are u doing a paper on psycho too??!

  • Såg ni björnen

  • @korin88 REALLY??! Dang das a coincidence lol!! Good luck :°D

  • Classic. I'm doing my 6 page literary analysis on this movie and the original Alfred Hitchcock book. Very interesting

  • @CaressLorthaya That makes two of us!

  • @CaressLorthaya XD looks like geniuses really do think alike!

  • 2:26, nipple action.

  • She was just stabbed multiple times. Where the hell is the blood? That's so unrealistic.

  • Invented the modern slasher

  • I LOVE THE DAN DAN DAN DAN DUN DUN DUN DUN :D

  • LOL shudda done what anthony from smosh did

    "DAYUMM..."

  • I only saw this CINEMATOGRAPHIC CLASSIC last night on ITV3-I remember ponderin how EXHILARATIN the SPRAYED waterflow must have been just by the SHEER expressions of EUPHORIA on JANET LEIGH's FACE!

  • dead nan mosdus

  • ya know, if ur gonna stab someone to death u could at least have put a little effort into it

  • Why did AH have to be British damn it... I thought he was a great American director but he was a goddamn British person.

  • 我真的嚇到了.......

  • Brought to you by Hershey's chocolate!

  • The actress explained that the "naked" body parts were of a model, because she did not feel comfortable with nudity. The sound you hear is a man stabbing a watermelon. Those were the 60's.

  • @ironcarvel really i thought they would have actually found someone and stabbed them.
