I use two ASCII PAD V Pro programmable controllers to script input sequences frame by frame. It's a very tedious process but it allows me to control both characters with precise timing.
Once things get elaborate enough, it stops working consistently. For example the first combo took only like 3-4 tries to record. The last two combos in this video took over 30 tries each.
Imagine how long it took to get these sequences working from scratch. But it helps to know i'm always making progress.
well all i can say is it's worth the effort as the end result is very impressive!,i would like to know,as you delve into the game so intricately, does this make you an excellent player or is actual combat a totally different kettle of fish? you must know have an in depth knowledge of frame data, priority etc? do you have any matches that are viewable?,thanks.
Sorry sir, i don't have any matches online but it's been a long time since i played in a tournament anyway. Doing all this helps me become familiar with the game engine so i can figure things out and hopefully contribute to the community. But in terms of match skill, Training Mode is no substitute for practicing against good competition.
I can't speak for him, but i have absolutely no idea.. is there a web poll or something? If so, I need to vote for Sakura and then Ibuki like..the day after ssf4 comes out... okay, I'll give you 2 days to work out every possible Ibuki combo.. chop chop, get to it!
There's a screenshot caption contest on Sonic Hurricane the same week as each episode is released. Whoever comes up with the best title gets to pick the next character.
Whoaaaaa dude I didnt even realize combos like this was possible and I love playing with Rose she is serious business yessir but uh ya boy has been inspired 4 show and will be puttin in work . Holla
These are combo videos dude, not tutorials. The goal is to treat SF4 like a puzzle game and find the craziest, most elaborate combos possible. If you want tactics or match combos, look up the top 3 players maining whatever character you play and study what they do.
If any of this seems even remotely practical to you, then i hate to say it but you're just not seeing how complicated it is.
The transcript is up on Sonic Hurricane in case anyone wants to read up on this stuff. It should answer most questions but if anything else is confusing, don't hesitate to ask.
Amazing stuff, and coming from a Rose main. Like a few others, I'd never realised that you can cancel a reflected fireball into Super. That's a serious WTF for me, thinking I knew just about everything there is to know about Rose. I knew it could be done on an opponent - and I suppose a fireball is no different - but it'd just never crossed my mind. Can anything decent be set up by HP reflecting a fireball and cancelling into Super, to control the screen space? Gonna have to check this out.
You really don't. They only play during rival battles in IV. Hopefully they have a music select or something in Super IV because most of the stage music in IV was forgettable imo.
Dude, no one is talking about the vs. Sagat combo? Three OF HIS OWN FIREBALLS from across the screen with NO back peddling!! And none of his Fireballs collided with themselves! Seriously. Think about that!!
Amazing, from start to finish. I didn't realize that soul reflect could be canceled into super without the SR hitting the opponent/being blocked first.
That was great! Did you ever think about messing around with a Tool Assisted Rose mirror match? It would be interesting to see what you can do with reflects in that situation.
LP is a projectile absorb, were absorbing it gives her about 1/2 of an EX bar (The most EX meter gain of any move in SF4). On top of that, it increases the damage of Rose's next projectile by a small amount, roughly 5% more damage, up to about 30% after 8 absorbs.
Her MP reflect reflects the projectile back at her opponent, plain and simple.
Her HP reflect reflects the projectile at an upward angle. like Gouken's MP Hados.
Her Reflect isn't as useful as it seems. After 2-3 times of using, her opponent realizes that fireball spamming won't work.
Next is her Soul Spark(fireball). Her spark has the longest animation of any character's projectile in the game, so it's pretty punishable, but it does higher damage comparatively, and her LP Spark moves slow like Guile's, so she can dash behind it.
You're right, her Soul Throw (Anti-air) does suck, mostly because it doesn't have invincibility, but her EX does.
Also, her Soul throw auto corrects a lot better than many other characters AAs, so she can put a stop to a lot of crossup shenanigans with it.
Her Soul Spiral is kind of like Bison's Scissor Kicks, or Tiger Knee. It launches her forward a good amount, armor breaks, and is the best way to combo into her Super if it's available. Her EX version has a lot of invincibility frames on it, so in essence, it's her Shoryuken you could say, albeit a lot safer (But still punishable).
Oh, I forgot to mention, her EX Soul Reflect reflects projectiles just like her MP, except it an reflect EX projectiles, and it makes them go faster and do more damage once reflected.
truthfully, Rose's specials aren't too great, and her game is more about using her very long range normals and great dash/throw.
If you wanna play me, add me sometime, my tag is "Kangarou" on both PSN/XBL.
Thanks for the info :> I'm a third strike Oro player who recently picked up SF4 Claw and I don't know any matches, though my execution's good. Bafael on PSN.
Here's to one of the most impossible characters of SF4 to beat! Ugh, either that, or I just suck. I beat Shin Akuma, but can't COMPARE to this girl.

There's one thing I don't get from these kinds of videos, be them from 3s, Alpha or IV...
Aside from the first and the last combos showed, all the others look like you'd need the other person to cooperate, to pull it off.
Are these videos made to suggest some useful tactics in game, or just to show "random funny things" you can do with the game?
