  • very vedry very very very coooooooooooooool

  • I can think of a couple of houses I would like to do that to on Halloween.

  • Oh yeah, henz! kdák kdák!

  • what a fat cunt !!!!!!!!

  • lol a chicken

  • Nice was that gun where you spray and light or is it an air gun

  • yeah, thats not that impressive

  • NICE, i great way to waste eggs :l

  • you should go egg someones house with that!

  • nope

  • Launch a chicken!

  • You're a retarded asshole who isn't worth the oxygen that you are living on.

  • hey

nice cannon ... does it have a modified sprinkler valve

  • no, its got a ball valve

  • Now just imagine how sweet this will be once we save up enough for that HD high speed camera! =D

  • lol the chickens are like "WTF???????"

  • thanx for the reply very helpful - can't wait to see the steel one!!!

  • on the aircompressor version does the aircompressor itself have a safety overpressure valve built in so you don't explode your pvc tank?or do you still need to install one? you mentioned tapping one in i'm unsure how that nossle won't shoot out of the hole.

  • Yep, there's a pressure valve on the air compressor itself. I set it to cut off about 10 psi below the safety rating on the PVC, so there's no explosion risk. Once the cannon is fully charged though, I have a cutoff valve on it, so I can unplug from the tank for better aiming.

This season I may build a heavy duty model from steel. We'll see if anything comes of that.

  • @somecallmejim which is diameter of the barrel 'cause i two cork rifles (you can see in my channel if you want) and i use a one and a half inch pvc pipe for launching golf ball and i want to know wich is the diameter of the barrel please respond

  • wait a minute i am building on of these. might build one of these and i think you should launch airsoft bbs some how that would be cool

  • yes, that is verry cool what i do is i get a coffe filter fill it half way with BBs shove it down there and shoot some time i but a rubber band on top of it but be careful sometimes bbs go wild

  • shits week

  • 5 stars-- i dont know why the rating is low on this vid it was awesome

    cool launcher

  • egs for eating use stones for throw!

  • wow that thing is awesome. well done.

  • How many PSI can that go up to??? Cause I like that design and I think I'm going to build one like that. Any specs you can share??

  • UGL, I want to see your cannon like NOW.

I have a one with a steel airchamber, but a pvc barrel.

I tried launching an egg in my first one like a year ago and it turned into liquid before it left the barrel haha.

  • I had the same problem. To actually get the eggs to stay intact I had to hard boil them, and then I put a single strip of duct tape around the middle just for good measure.

  • No mine is way better, ALL STEEL, NO FUCKIN PUSSY PVC! All the cannons you see on YouTube are fuckin PVC, COME ON! Mine will punch through a fuckin car with a blunt slug of cast aluminum! No cans, eggs, pumpkins, or usless crap go in my barrel, anything that is solid and that can inflict damage to metal! I will post it when I get ahold of a camera. Oh no offense somecallmejim, I encourage you to make a large steel cannon so large you have to tow it behind your car, I know my next on will be

  • Well Alright. No offense taken.

The reason I built it from PVC was because it was cheap and easy, and I'm broke and lazy, thus making it a good match.

As i mentioned in reply to another commenter, I actually wanted to do steel, but I thought I'd start small. Maybe next summer if I'm in the mood I'll do something more industrial.

Shoot me a message if you get a video of your cannon up. I'd be interested to see it.

    Later.

  • I ancourage you to go overboard with it, lol! I made mine in about 2 hours with what I could find for cheap or free, so mine probly costed around $40. Remember my name so you can see my cannon in action, I will try to get good picture with my dads cam, but it uses little tapes, so I do not knoe how the quality will come out on here.

  • Ok, not only do you worry me, but why all the crying about how yours is better?

    who cares?

  • I do, I will share my easy to build design with others so they can have fun as well, pvc is kinda dangerous if you do not do it right, there is no powder or accelerants used in my design, which makes it a lot safer for even the whole family. Just compressed air that is the way to go if you have no or limited knowledge of explosives and accelerants.

  • my bad, I was in a bad mood. =]

  • NP, tends to happen alot on YouTube, lol!

Acually I have stopped making negative critical post and trying to clean up my language, sorry if I affended anyone with my words. I realized I have a reputation to uphold, and even more so when I start posting vids of my projects, so no more of that for me guys, i'm puttin on my halo, hehe. I wish all well in your research and hobbies, even if you are competition in future patents.

  • cheers =]

  • my air cannon is way better solenoid valve on it :)

  • try installing a solenoid valve, quicker release of air. you may even find one that is pilot air operated so you need no electricity!

  • Great suggestion. I'll probably do just that for the new episodes of "Crap Launcher" Coming this summer.

I wanted to use a solenoid valve on this one, but my super dinky small town hardware store that I bought all the stuff from didn't have one in their inventory, and I didn't want to drive around trying to find one. But now I have the time. :-)

  • launch dog poop in a plastic bag, pay hobos to collect the poop.

  • id egg a house with that shit!

  • heres an idea...

shake a thin beer can and if ya barrel is wide enough shoot that at some hard object (not cars)

  • I like mine sunny side up.

  • "However, PVC has one major drawback. It is brittle. An inadvertent impact could cause the piping to shatter, endangering surrounding personnel. Most PVC pipe manufacturers warn against using PVC for compressed air service due to potential liability from such failures. "

    just sayin.

we all still do it though.

  • LOL! Yeah, we do.

I actually wanted to do an all-metal construction with steel pipe, but it would have been way too heavy for hauling round, and it's a lot pricier than PVC. In the future, I might build a larger steel rig, as I want to try launching some bigger stuff (full pop cans, produce, small children :-D )

  • launch full coke cans, with vegetables AT small children.

all part of a healthy meal :)

  • No way. Launch the children:)

  • Just so you know that gun isnt safe above 60 psi because you are using DWV parts. DWV pipe is not pressure rated.

  • Hey, thanks for watching!

I hate to be contrary, but the entire setup is PVC schedule 40, steel, and brass valves. The weakest parts of the setup are still rated well above the maximum PSI I could get out of my compressor. I specifically avoided both drainage waste vent and ABS piping. No worries here, I did my homework, but seriously, thanks for your concern! ;-)

  • this is so awesome

    how does the cannon work?

  • It's all powered by air pressure. An air compressor (like the kind you'd use to fill a car tire or power a big nail gun) pumps air at about 120 psi into that big chamber on the bottom. up on that smaller chamber on top there's a valve that lats all of that air escape at about the same time. The result is a LOT of pressure that can send an egg (or whatever) a super long way. We were at least 200 yards out on most of those! :-)

  • thats sooooo cool

  • that wood be good 4 egging houses

  • I sure am glad I'm not having to clean up all that mess. I would assume it would stink after a couple days. :-)

  • I was hoping you'd post a "bloopers" version of your failed attempts before you got it right...

  • I may have to do that on the next one. Unfortunately, this time around we had no technical errors caught on tape. Now if I'd been recording for the first hour I was out there...

  • Looking forward to more Crap Launcher episodes.

  • More are on their way!

  • Personally, I'm amazed the eggs survived the trip out of the gun.

  • It took a little finessing...and some boiling water for about half an hour :-D

  • i threw eggs at my headteachers house when i was at school....6 times when i left....twice after i got caught, never into orbit though

  • LOL! Sounds like you were the ideal pupil!

  • ps.. am i to assume no animals were hurt in the production of this video?

  • No animals were harmed, but Ian may have a limp for a few days...

    :-D

  • I would like to launch my boss in that thing. any ideas? i see a nobel peace prize in your future..

  • Hmmm... It WOULD be fun to launch a nobel prize....wait...nevermind.

On the boss thing, It could be done, but I'd have to do a little upgrading. Steel pipe, probably 4 12" diameter chambers at 5' long each. An electronic actuator to pump all four air chambers into the launch chamber, and you're set.

But really, it would be much easier if you could just divide your boss up into 2" squares! :-D

  • well ok .. i'll try your dividing idea but i bet i get fired. do you need an assistant?

  • Lol. U r sooo crazy!!

  • LOL! Thanks! Now, be sure to tell your friends! :-D

  • potatoes

  • But is that po-tay-toes, or po-tah-toes?

  • Good use of those eggs!

  • Thanks! Now what to fire next...

  • Well we always launch potatoes. lol

  • Mmmmmm....Spuds in a gun...

  • That was pretty freakin' cool! Hmmm, what to shoot. You could put some anti-matter in it and shoot it as some matter. No wait, that might not be the best idea, LOL. You could get a great big white canvas and hang it up and shoot different colors of paint at it. You could get a giant bulletin board and some some sort of projectiles at it that would stick into it. A bunch at a time would be preferred. I guess a confetti cannon might be too cliche'.

  • Or you could affix a balloon *VERY* tightly over the end of it and when you fired it would instantly inflate and pop or inflate and go flying off if it happened to come unaffixed. You might have to experiment with different sized balloons to see what the most interesting effect turned out to be. OK, I'm done now:)

    Blinkazoid-slave to 3CoolKats

  • LOL! I love it. I could probably inflate and launch a weather baloon in one step!

  • bonus man/boy humor points as it would sound like a giant fart launching off...

  • I considered building an anti-matter containment field into this model, but since I can't totally predict it's safety until my research project is finished at CERN, I decided to hold off until 2.0

  • MIKMA WAS HERE

  • Jim writes a haiku

    This haiku is for mikma

    I'm just saying thanks

  • those poor chickens were probably traumatized watching you launch their offspring across the field. What you needed was a big target to shoot at.

  • LOL! I do need a big target. Or a wal-mart. I would really rather shoot at a wal-mart than a target. I like target.

    :-D

  • Seeing as you're in Minnesota, you should find a quintessential Minnesotan thing to fire out of that thing... I'm thinking lutefisk, they aren't fit for human consumption, either!

    That looked like fun!

  • It was more fun than you could imagine! Good idea there, too. I think maybe I should go to the state fair and see how many deep fried items on a stick I can launch!

  • hahaha! Awesome!

  • Thanks!

  • "How would you like your eggs, scrambled, sunny-side up, deviled, poached...."

"Hell no, I want my cannoned!"

    "Cannoned?"

"Yeah, shot out of a cannon and onto my plate!.....just ask somecallmejim..."

  • It's the only way to serve 'em. Best of all, the launching process is so powerful you literally de-shell the egg mid-air, leaving you with a peeled, hard boiled, scrambled egg!

  • Wow where to begin on this one. Trust me I used to work in a landfill so I have seen many things that could be used as fodder. God I would have gotten into so much trouble if I had one of those. I would probably end up firing off whipped cream or mayo filled condoms. I say condoms because they are more flimsy with a lower tolerance than water balloons. And the whipped cream or mayo for that added effect. Yes I do have a rather sick sense of humor.

  • I like it, I like it!

I could only imagine the weird crap that comes in a landfill!

  • Looks pretty fun :)

    Poor chickens though..

They are standing there watching while you shoot out their babies :o

Could be cool if you shot it at something like a big target, where you could get different points a little like dart :)

Maybe try tomatoes or potatoes :) ??

  • LOL! Those chickens will eat their eggs if you let them. A few times they chased the launched eggs!

  • That was pretty freaking cool. You should build a bull eyes made of toast of different shades of doneness! Just an idea...

  • Mmmmmm....toast bullseye.

Oh! I've got it! I make a toast bullseye, and for projectiles, I could use Eggs, Jars of jelly, and sticks of butter! Sweet!

  • Don't forget the peanutbutter then :o

  • Or bananas!

  • What came first? The cannon or the egg? Far as things to launch, where do I start!? Lets see. How about potatos? Or anything out of the garden. Or canned drinks? Or, mabey, just mabey a cannonball? LOL, just a few ideas. Man that looked like fun! Mabey I should build one.

  • LOL! Good ideas. And it WAS fun. TONS of fun! I will suggest that if you build one, you sit down and do the math to figure out how much pressure you need. When I started this project, I didn't start with the science end, and the result was depressing - the cannon didn't "fire" the projectile as much as it "pooed" it out. It barely cleared the tube. Fortunately, my science genes kicked in, and it all worked out.

  • Lmao awesome!

  • Thanks Mr P! :-D

  • Ha! Cool! Can you guy those at Target yet??? :)

  • No, Wal Mart :-D

  • That looked like fun...

    Kev :)

  • It was a blast!

  • wow sweet as

  • LOL! Thanks!
