  • I like this

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I REMEMBER THIS!! What the hell is my brain keeping stuff like this locked away for?!

  • I've noticed that the highest Sesame Street has counted was up to 20, at least I think it was, I think there was only one exception where they counted even higher, and it was the 40 Pigs song, they usually have 20 has the highest number to count to

  • @CrazyGamerDragon64: During the 80s and early 90s, several other cartoons about the number 40 appeared on Sesame Street: a man counting 40 stars; 40 lemmings jumping from a cliff in silly poses; a hare taking a flight of 40 steps to race a tortoise (who cheated by using the elevator). There was also a Muppet sketch with a boy in a school bus, singing a bluesy number about going to school 40 blocks away. Do any of those ring a bell for you?

  • @hoopersghost I think I remember the one with the boy on the bus and the guy counting the stars but the others I don't remember

  • What is the 9 doing with its hand??

  • Number 1 looks like a penis

  • thats a lil disturbin

  • If I had some animation skill, I wouldn't mind doing an updated version of this...on let's say an Amiga with AGA graphics or a Video Toaster attached. Or maybe how about a VBXE (Video Board XE) enhanced Atari 130XE at 320 x 240 resolution.

  • number 1 is a shroom

  • woah spinny, nostalgic as fuck man!

  • Every number was said for every second that passed

  • i only recognize number 11 though

  • Looks like 6 is hungry for it.....1 brought him a bone next time they met.

  • #1 is a dec.

  • That style of animation looks very familiar. I believe it was done by a woman, whose name eludes me for the moment, who also had an animation studio based out of Rochester, New York.

  • @pythonfan1 partly right, I was based out of NYC though.

  • that is so stupid

  • OH. MY. GOD. I am glad I am not the only one to think the SAME THING about number one... D:

  • Number 1 is a PECKER.

  • I wonder what number one is..

    hmmm

  • Number 1 is a DICK

  • i wonder what 28 looks like

  • shroooms

  • In Which I've Also Seen it go up to Is 13, 14, And 16.

  • This was a series I made to teach the teen numbers, so there are 8 versions of this animation ending on each teen number from 13-20.

  • You might be interested to know that all the animations on Sesame Street are made by independent artists from all over the country who propose their films to the production company. It is not all made by one director with one staff of artists, so there is a lot of variety in the films.

  • this a really cute video wish it would last longer

  • . . . because, as we all know, numbering stops at "20"

  • yeah! it freaked me out too...

    ...kinda like alice in wonderland..

theres something kind of mysterious about sesame street and such supposed 'kids' entertainment... drug induced mysterious i now believe...

  • I can assure you the only drug induced was coffee during the making of this animation! However, Louis Carroll is an early hero and certainly an influence too.

  • I had a crush on Number 9

  • Animated by Merrill Aldighieri.

    Music by Fred Reed.

  • Thanks for the nice, cool trivia! Do you happen to know when this first aired? My guess is between the mid 80s and early 90s, but not later than 1993-5, I should say, because that was the last time I recall seeing the full version of this. Thanks!

  • I think it aired around 1983 or 1984 because i was working in nightclubs til 1982, then I did a bunch of music videos for Sony, and then this followed shortly after. I had a more violent and funny version of a countdown on my demo reel and that was what inspired this series for Sesame Street.

  • 4 is the cutest. Bunny! x]

  • Oh, BTW, I'm curious as to when this first aired and who animated this. My guess is it would have aired in the mid to late 80s, but not later than the early to mid 90s.

  • OH YES YES YES! AT LAST! My favorite counting clip is here! My fav-rite!

  • OH! MY! GOD! This clip was on so much when I was a kid, and I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT IT UNTIL NOW!!!! OMG OMG OMG! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!

  • When I was young it really irked me in this segment when they didn't go all the way up to 20 sometimes. They would stop at 14 or 16 I was like maybe this time they'll do it BTW what were 5,8,and 9 supposed to be?

  • 8 is just on skates.

5 is like a peacock or bird-of-paradise kind of thing.

    9 dunno

  • 9 is probably some kinda girl.

  • 5 is a crane,8 is probably a dog perhaps,and 9 is probably a dianosaur.

  • That's right! Number 7 is a gaint bird and Number 4 is a bunny.

  • that 0 in the 10 looks like a surfboard

  • I remember this pretty well. I saw it a lot during the early 90's. I mean all the other numbers. I rarely saw this one where it goes all the way up to 20.

  • THis is so cute! Especially the little kid counting the numbers

  • thank u so much 4 posting this
