I've noticed that the highest Sesame Street has counted was up to 20, at least I think it was, I think there was only one exception where they counted even higher, and it was the 40 Pigs song, they usually have 20 has the highest number to count to

@CrazyGamerDragon64: During the 80s and early 90s, several other cartoons about the number 40 appeared on Sesame Street: a man counting 40 stars; 40 lemmings jumping from a cliff in silly poses; a hare taking a flight of 40 steps to race a tortoise (who cheated by using the elevator). There was also a Muppet sketch with a boy in a school bus, singing a bluesy number about going to school 40 blocks away. Do any of those ring a bell for you?

You might be interested to know that all the animations on Sesame Street are made by independent artists from all over the country who propose their films to the production company. It is not all made by one director with one staff of artists, so there is a lot of variety in the films.

I think it aired around 1983 or 1984 because i was working in nightclubs til 1982, then I did a bunch of music videos for Sony, and then this followed shortly after. I had a more violent and funny version of a countdown on my demo reel and that was what inspired this series for Sesame Street.
