Samsungs ssd has random write bandwidths of 12 MB/sec. Lets call it 10 MB/sec write speed on their 32 GB SSD. To write a full 128k block takes about 13 milliseconds. Block erases take from 2-6 milliseconds on the parts I looked at.
Samsung has a 512gb 2.5" version available as well. That's half a terabyte of goodness. 500gb is the highest 2.5" HDDs go to at this point in time so it's even larger than HDDs.
more than likely what you would like to pay it is a 64 gig drive meaning you will pay a lot cause its a new large capacity drive which always cost alot. the drive is probably about 400-500 dollars.
solid state drives have no moving mechanical parts so they dont break down like hard drives, and use low power. Since they are new techonlogy they are very expesince and dont have lot of capacity. However, they make your comp fast and they are the future.
That's great and all, but 64GB's just isn't enough to get me any way excited these days. Yeah, it would be really fast, but OS's only require about 10GB. Meh!
fucking nerd touching the contacts with his bare skin full of static elec. lol

those speeds for mlc really suck

Flash SSD manufacturers are basically cheating customers by not publishing Random write performance. They should be sued.

Theres no moving parts so SSD's can withstand extreme shock, high altitude, vibration and temperatures unlike normal HDDs
