I have a tripleheadtogo digital and I'm looking to upgrade to 1080p LCD Tv's for triple screen gaming in iRacing.. With your triplehead2go, did you have to use a converter to attach to the monitors or are they vga or dvi? Thanks!
LOL another thing, on six screens... you cant hide from me probably why my scores are so high (of course being an old quaker with old school fps skills)... i can see you miles away without having to squint LOL.
Yes definately try it... you can throw physics and math calculations on how it isnt as good as a single monitor, but thats all crap till you actually sit behind a six screen rig the experience is mind blowing and will put a smile on your face from ear to ear.
Best thing to do is try it... 22" monitors are cheap... im recently moving to Asus 6970 DCII with two dvi and four display ports... ill be running five monitors rotated virtical and spread horizontaly... this has been done before but i havent seen them done DEBEZELED. so this should be interesting... if i can run the sixth port to a triplehead to go i will... and get 3 monitors for extra work space (not gaming), i'll post it here when im complete.. waiting on card to arrive.
@FutureDudeTV Actually not exactly... most of the best fps players drop all their graphics so there is no foliage or anything for players camo to work against... it also increases frame rates...
i rank on top of the score lists on most battles in bfbc2 lol so does my 10 yr old airstrike... once you play on six screens trust me you wont every play on a single again... playing is believing.
hey there This looks amazing. Im about to begin my triple monitor setup but I have 3 Vizio 1080P tv's one works awesome but Im wondering if the TH2G limitations will bite me. any words on that?
@MASTRCHIEFMOE Heyas the FPS sucks compared to running a single monitor. every monitor you add even when doing 3 monitors it reduces fps! Max settings some games just wont run fast enough... but then again it really does depend on the engine the game was made in and what graphics they are using.. some run at 29fps some run 63 to 72fps in burst, this was really an experiment only running a gtx280!
when doing online battles i drop my graphics set. id do this anyway even with a single monitor
@MASTRCHIEFMOE EVGA Board 3xSLI board, quad core Q9550 processor 2.8ghz, 4gig ram, was running 3 2gtx280's but honestly id have more game instability running sli, was finding myself turning it off most of the time... so i took the other two out and put them into two other machines 3 machines now with good cards i find more use for especially in my work.
@MASTRCHIEFMOE ok 3 screens makes gaming incredible i accept a bit of fps loss for incredible resolution... when you go 6 monitors its JAW dropping the resolution is so big im inside the darn game now instead of seeing it in a tiny window ill never game on one screen again unless the game itself cant support the resolution, as a matter of fact i dont buy games that wont go six monitors now!!! so YES 6 monitors owns all dont do 4 or youll have a vertical bezel right in the middle of your screen
so instead of needing to buy video cards and converters and all that (which im experienced with)... why not spend perhaps a little more money buy a 60 lcd tv. and guess what.. that eliminates the hassle with bezels. and then you dont look like an idiot with pvc pipe in your room. in fact you could even keep your secret gaming addictions in the closet with a nice wall mount and can quickly switch to cnn when some one of significance walks in.. :)
Actually have you rever put your face 3 to 4 feet from a 60inch lcd tv it looks like crap and it will only be stretching to the max resolution the tv itself supports which isnt going to be as high as 6 monitors sadly... and for working each document opens in its own bordered monitor much better... and i work more than i play unfortunately...
how about get a company to actually make a monitor thats 3 or 6 screens melded together that doesnt cost 8 Grand!
Oh and to add to that ever seen an LCD tv take a dump its cheaper to buy another one for 700 bucks instead of ship the sucker to the warranty service.. with multi monitors its doubtful they will all blow at once... the resolution alone is enough to go with monitors instead of a tv... you realize ive already considered that LOL even a projector on a curved wall too but still the resolution sucks
well without the thinned bezels yes i agree, but once i thinned the bezels and remember we are talking only a 1/4 inch split i didnt notice. but yes the target recticle is split in half and that is anoying... ON THE OTHER HAND playing an MMORPG is fantastic there is no target recticle and its awesome i've attempted to play on 3 screens again and well honestly its pretty lame now its like going from 3 monitors back to 1!!! once you play six its the only way... now i have researched 5 will try it
Can you do more gameplay videos? There's seems to be very little 6 monitor gaming rigs on Youtube.
I'm building one right now (I bought 5 Dell S2309W) Now I have a question, Should I go You're route and Buy another TH2Go and Buy an nVidia Card, or Wait for the 5870 6 Output Card and buy a myriad of adapters?
Your question is a good one and the whole reason i built the setup i did... first of all if you wait for the ati card your stuck with it until the next one comes out if you do dual triplehead2go's you can use any card including any future cards!!!! saving you big bucks and allowing you the option of nvida or ati or whatever card that may come out... now mind you that spanning only works in XP right now and not win 7 could be the whole reason eyefinity six is still not out yet!
THis would be much easier if the TH2Go worked with the 5000-series. I'd just go buy another TH2Go and a 5870. Turns out that 3 Active DP->DVI adapters cost just as much as a TH2Go DE
Dont go DP for now its way over priced id give it a year or so it might even faze out and vanish, dp monitors are over priced and the triplehead2go dp version doesnt support some resolutions...
My only issue so far with the TH2Go is that it's highest 3x16:9 Resolution is 4080x768, where 16:10 monitors are being phased out so when i went to buy new monitors (i had 3 19"rs) I could only find 16:9 monitors so i went with that. But the weird thing is that 4800x900 is well within Dual Link DVI's Max Bandwidth and matrox doesn't support it, i've even asked them and they said they wont add any resolutions unless enough people whine about it.
I can, they are all 1080p native, it's kinda annoying to play stretched 16:10 on a 16:9 monitor. Things look... FAT. On games where i can mess with the FOV i use 5040x1050 (I.E. Unreal Tournament Games).
Actually ... get a big arse TV and put it next to 6 or 9 monitors and the tv looks like someone spit on your eyeball compared to the monitors plus the resolution is just stretched not actually increased... so No.
how are you going to do this? 2 nVidia 285's and 3 TH2Go's and wait for the driver that allows for surround? Though I'm wondering if they're bring back Vertical Span.
well have you seen the matrox cards they can do mass amounts of monitors but they cost a ton... but im not sure yet im thinking about the layout also if my monitor setup gets any heavier my glass desk is going to shatter! lol
Well was able to get it working NOT IN SPAN mode though for win 7... Apparently win 7 architecture at the moment doesnt support windows spanning or stretching! Hmm did microsoft listen to its users? after spanning mode being available since 2003, 7 years later its broken nice!!!! guess ill be working in XP until 2011 when its no longer supported and praying for win 7 to actually work!
I knew you'd be irritated by 3x2 monitors eventually. The only way to make 3x2 work is to use bezeless monitors (which aren't available yet) or projectors? With SLI or Crossfire could you do nine or more? And why can't you do 6x1 monitors in portrait rather than 5x1? I want a 3D Vision Surround setup, probably with just three monitors.
Well actualy i could do the six horizontal problem is playing a game with the center bezel going vertical is horrible idealy it would be best to have five monitors for your center monitor is clear... but i did debezel the six and i can handle the 1/4 bezel now its on another post of mine also showed how to debezel
Ok after playing for a while ive decided to reduce the center horizontal bezel even more it seams that the darn thing is seriously giving me a headache, i did try a five screen portrait setup last night in a horizontal pattern allowing for the center screen to be clear but nvidia spanning kept adding a sixth ghost monitor between the last two when i enabled it totally destroying that idea... maybe future drivers will be better.
Sup man, before the bezels are removed most monitors have their controls at the bottom making the separation anywhere from 2.0 to 3 inches in horizontal bezel... since i removed the bezels i have about 1 inch there im going to overlap the top monitors with the lower ones so i only have a 1/4inch bezel and the crosshair itself is split on the bezel at the moment half above and half below
This has been flagged as spam show
if your computer has an hdmi and dvi port, can you plug in a dualhead2go in the dvi and use the hdmi to get 3 monitors?

well personally for first person shooter games i like a smaller tv.. i would prefer just to have on of those tvs not all six..

Seems unpractical.. you cant aim precisely since its right in he middle. 3 monitors is still the way to go.
