come on trophyhill, what would be the challenge there, this is in a national park, I get these guys in my back yard all the time. I thought hunting was supposed to be the challenge of stalking a wild animal, not shooting them in a pen.
if you listen closely in Lord of the rings, the sound made by the Ring Wraiths when they are chasing all the hobbits is an elk bugle combined with a few other sounds
It is actually right in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. Next time I will try to get the mountains in the back ground too. But y a have to be careful, horny elk don't like anything anywhere near their cows
it looks like they are surrouned by thick pines. that made the bugle sound so so amazing. add the fact you can see its breath...makes it that much better.
I am absolutely captivated heart and soul by the elk and the noise it emmits. I adore every aspect of them. This is the best bugle on youtube in my opinion because it really shows how hautingly beautiful their bugle can be. I can hardly imagime what it was like to be there! you are so lucky!
Is nice whe they are down in the valley but when they are in the back yard, it can be annoying. Specially if they are on the road with their harem and won't let you get to work.
September October and into November is when they do it. The big bulls stake out their territory and bugle back and forth to other bulls 24 7 during the rut. We will sleep with the window partly open to hear it
They are very noisey at this time of year. Some bugle longer and have an almost musical rise in notes, others are very gutteral and grunt several times at the end. I'll record more this fall as they are bugling now and a few have been in behind my house.
