Why siren when no traffic?

Stopping at RED signals means a lot more wear on brakes, more fuel and pollution accelerating from a stop, and longer we are holding up cross-traffic.

We do not stop for a red signal if we see that cross-traffic has stopped and no other vehicles are coming.

Why do people film and watch this? We have a special mentally challenged kid in our district that goes on ride-alongs and films us leaving our station. I think he posts them on youtube, and I thought this might of been one of those videos....its not! there are hundreds of them on here. Why do you guys enjoy this?

I often wonder the same thing. After watching this I realized I'd lost 4 minutes of my life, and learned NOTHING about this department. Others film the same stuff, and put down a music bed of hard rock. I've been on a fire truck running code. I know what it's like. It's be nice to know something about what other departments are up to.

I totaly agree. He didnt even slow down for most of those red lights. If he would have hit someone, the driver of the engine would have been at fault. Its called 'Do Regard.' Always make sure you have the right away and everyone knows you're there before you proceed through that light. Always come to a complete stop. EVOC class should be manitory for all drivers of fire trucks. You got some retards that shouldnt be driving at all

@ozzy8585 Guys, the 'tunnel vision' of old camera phones (or whatever piece of 240p crap this was shot on) is terrible for giving us 'real world' perspective but I'm here to tell you that this truck is rolling through the lights pretty safely. The driver can definitely see that intersecting traffic is stopped or coming to a stop nicely. He's not stupid enough to bolt through on a whim and a prayer. There are tons of reds that our guys fly through when we can see there's nothing approaching.
