i've just passed my driving test at 18 and my father bought me one of these machines. why i say it has to be the worst birthday pressents i've ever had. i attempt to drive it to work but something always goes wrong. like take last week i was on the a2 flooring my herald reving the nuts of it (literaly) and then the engine just blew up on me. it quickly caught fire but that was ok i was well prepared and so i used the fire extinghusher that came with the car when my dad bought it. si
Back in 1973 my Grandfather gave me his 1965 1200 herald saloon he had owned from new. it still had clear plastic seat covers and plastic over the door liners from when it left the factory ! It was two tone green (cactus/olive) and a great car, I kept it for about 6 years and wish I still had it.
Wasn't what you'd call a full-on resto by any stretch of the imagination. Cost us £125 back in about 1989 and it was my first car, although I let my brother have it as he was doing most of the work on it. Never forget those times though, had some great times in it. Hope you have as much fun with yours!
yeah, u did well with 125pound!! ours has been a full resto with nearly all new bolts, all bushes bearings n uni joints, rebuilt diff new shockies. found some discs 4 the front.. 2pac paint.. new upholstery n carpet etc.. cost us a little more than a few grand (AU$), but we were told that people these days spend at least 30grand on a half decent resto, so we've done really well i reckon. yeah, my dad has one 2 n we've had some great times in that, yeh. cant wait 4 mine 2b rego'd!!
I have spent so many years with my nose under one of those bonnets and it was one the most fun cars to own. I look forward to buying another one day. Cheers for posting.

Great car. When I was sixteen I had four Heralds. Three sedans and a convertible. Rather the lines of the saloon though. Thanks for the videos.
