  • Great Voice!!!!

  • He got sexier with age.

  • u r right about lou christie - i love his version of "beyond the blue horizon" - it starts off low key, then goes wild!

  • freddy mercury (queen) and franki valli (4 seasons) also had that great range

  • @tommyjohnsr also dont forget the great lou christie

  • this guy is awesome!

  • How tall was Shannon? He looks five foot nuthin' next to that other guy on folk guitar.

  • @SkidRowJosephine The other guy is Burton Cummings who is 6 foot two if that helps.

  • great song..and Del was good...crazy crazy good

  • Del looks and sounds so relaxed, totally in control.

  • I´ll never treat you bad Del, love you always on my mind, caro

  • I absolutely love this song. Burt was suprised when the song was cut short.

  • I still get chills listening to this when Del hits those high notes at the end. TRUE TALENT.The great ones like Orbison, Darin, etc. live on forever.

  • buena canción gracias por compartirla felicidades

  • He was one of a kind. I love this stuff & he still sounded so good here. Singers could sing back then, & that world is long gone.

  • Man--what a great range Del had. He could really sing!! I so wish he would have continued on and been with us much longer. I'm sad when I see these great youtube videos that we lost such a great talent to depression. Wish someone could have helped him. We never know what is going on n people's heads. I thought he was on top of the world with his new concert tour and recordings coming up. What a talent we lost!!

  • @lukeloveslauraalways It is very sad when someone is so unwell I know what it's like been there for so long myself.

  • @lukeloveslauraalways This was nothing in the album version he could 2 1/2 notes ABOVE what he hits here. (from E5 to a A5)

  • He and Roy O were probably the only 2 that had range like that...The man could write he could sing and he could rock your socks off....

  • Del is awesome. Great memories of my childhood.

  • Great job Del.

  • 20 years or so later and he still had the majick. Great artist. Sadly we will see no more of his kind, unless some great spirtual revoloution occurs in the year 2012 that changes the thinking of man

  • Del = legend.

  • tune!!!

  • What happened to real Rock & Roll like this?

  • Comment removed

  • Rock & Roll like this will never die although people try to destroy it with things like MTV, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, etc. But we shall prevail. Long live Del!

  • Me too gtopete He hasnt lost it !! weeeehooo

  • Pure class...that voice....wauw....

  • watching this just made the hairs on my arm stand to attention

  • Awesome!

  • excellent!

  • What a voice, the best of them all, reminds me of my youth, a memory forever. haunting and unforgettable.

  • This a lesson in stage presence............and performance.

  • Simply outstanding.. WOW What a voice

  • Del, you were rock n roll. Elvis sold out early in his career. Only Del could strap on a guitar and rock the roof off a joint!!!! These punks today, can't even keep a beat. You were the greatest, Del.

  • Burt has his white shoes on......and actually is playing a gutiar not his piano.........he doesn't even come close to the talents of the late Del, the efforts put fourth by both make this a fun video to watch and listen/

  • what can we say about Del, their are no words to describe his stunning voice on stage and his all around music talents as an artist. to this day, Del can't and well never be forgotten generation upon generation.

  • thinkin´of you "Del" this day 20 years ago, what a tragedy, miss you still and love you, I´ve lit a candle in the darkest night over here, caro

  • cool stuff! rare to see Burt playing guitar!

  • What could be better, Del looks like the coolest cat, sings like a bird, and is playing that amazing Gibson Firebird. Even Burton is in awe. Boy is Del Shannon ever missed especially in this day and age of Crap music on the radio. RIP mr. Westover

  • You got that right - thanks

  • I miss him, too. This look is interesting. In real life he had such light hair and chalky pasty coloring, but in his publicity pictures he always had dark hair and shadow over his face.

  • this video brings a tear to my eye

  • 2 of my favorite men, wish I could have been there for this!!

  • Burton Cummins was the lead singer of the Guess Who which had many hits...Great performance

  • living legend..

  • OMG what a voice he had. He and dion were kings

  • WOW! The Best is gone,,,, Now we got Hip Hop!

Remembering what was Real Rock N Roll! Thanks!

  • This is why I love Rock and Roll ..guys like Del Shannon & Burton Cummings ! Thanks for the great music!

  • I believe this if from a Canadian TV special that Mr. Cummings did....anyone know where I can get a copy of the entire concert?

  • Correct -- this is from a 1982 CBC special called "Burton Cummings Going For Gold". It also featured Bobby Vee & Leslie Gore, with a special appearance by Carl Perkins.

  • Del looks like John Fogerty.

  • You know you are right. Facially they definitely bear a resemblance. Both Del and Fogerty have two of the more distinctive sounding voices in rock and roll history too.

  • Wrong!!! Wrong!!! Wrong!!!

John Foggarty looks a bit like Del Shannon in some ways, there´s only One who looks like Del and that is himself!

Thank you Burton for haven Del as guest so we could enjoy this, caro

  • Anyway, he certainly looked younger than his 43 years then in '82. His voice almost remained intact since the early 60s

  • Wrong again !!!

He was 48 in 1982, he was born december 30th 1934.

  • Looked it up, you're right. Well, okay, he looked younger ...

  • thanks for sharing this performance.I always look forward to watching this again again...

  • Wow.

  • I'm only eighteen and I know the legend that is Del Shannon =) I absolutely love him and Burt is great too =)

  • god del sounded so great late in life.

bless him. wish he was still around ... so much.

  • great song

  • Can you believe the last 10 seconds of this song?

  • We all miss You Del,,,, May God hold You in the palm of His hand forever, and never squeeze to tight!! Thank You for giving us so many memories! This world could use a few more like You today! Thanks again for the Memories!

  • Burton looks cute trying to be humble.

  • brilliant love sue

  • brilliant , the master at work live. keep rockin

  • You should have stuck around Del. Fantastic song.
