Who said I was degrading them? On the contrary, I have high respect and praise for our men and women in uniform and say as much whenever I get the chance. They do what I cannot and they take all the risk so that I can live in my comfortable home and never have to worry about what I say and whom I say it to for fear of being imprisoned or shot.

I get that life is hard for them over there, but screwing around ON PATROL is what bothers me, and doing that makes us all look bad.

However, they patrol the same areas day in and day out, and generally have a pretty good feel for where and if they're going to get contact. I don't think something like this would be happening in a hot spot, because most soldiers know better than to let they're guard down in hot areas. This guy's probably been over there months and needs some form of entertainment, just like the rest of us.

Again, I have no problem whatsoever with troops being entertained on-base.

But when you leave base, and you go out on patrol, you keep focused and clear-headed, and you don't fuck around with other people's stuff because you're bored. You represent the quality and honor of the United States of America wherever you are, and pulling shit like in that video is unacceptable. And if you are based in mainland USA, the same rule applies.

However I have 2 men in my immediate family currently serving in the Marines, One close cousin enlisted in the Army, and a handful if Iraq/Afghanistan and Gulf War vets at every family get together I can honestly say that I've heard enough stories about patrol and overseas life to form my opinions. But you make a fair point. Considering that on August 20th I sign my life over to the US Air Force for Security Forces, I'll let you know in a year or so.
