my dad died in dec 30th 2010 and it was from diabetes, liver cancer and a bunch of tumors. i was only 13 years old at that time, it was really scary for me to alwaysee him in pain and throwing up, but couldnt even throw up. well, it was just painful to watch people in pain and suffering we took him to a place where they took care of people and and he was peaceful, then died. well, at least he died a peaceful death while sleeping and not a painful one.he lived with cancer for about 1 year

I'm 49 been smoking for 31 years, watched both of my parents die who both had emphysema; I buried them both by the time I was 31 dad was 68 mom was 76 ( I was a change of life baby) back in 80 I didn't know the harm in smoking like we do now and neither did my parents when they started I have tried to quit several times so when I was making out my Will and Living Will, that I will be giving a lethal dose of morphine so I don't suffer in the dying process or suffer at all.

@visionvp Agreed, it's easier to quit now than ever before. The combination of bupropion (Wellbutrin/Zyban), nicotine replacement and counselin is more effective than anything else. You don't even HAVE to withdraw from nicotine! Even if you stay on the patches or gum for the rest of your life you'll still far better off than you were smoking, because while nicotine is addictive, it's all the OTHER crap in tobacco that gives you cancer.

I hate smoking and I hate cigarettes. However i think sometimes it is wrong to show people who die or died of lung cancer in a video like this. It takes away from their dignity and I do not think any cancer sick person wants pictures of them near death to be shown online in anti smoking ad. Also bad idea because many people get cancer without cigarettes.

@StopFear if you research the true life story behind the pictures you will know that bryan wanted the film crew to come over to his mother's house where he was staying so that they could film him and so that he could send a strong message out to the rest of the world. there are reports that he even stood outside when he was still able to walk and people would look at him and he would have them come over and warn them about the dangers of smoking. it was his final wish. he had a good heart. <3

I'm 49 been smoking for 31 years, watched both of my parents die who both had emphysema; I buried them both by the time I was 31 dad was 68 mom was 76 ( I was a change of life baby) back in 80 I didn't know the harm in smoking like we do now and neither did my parents when they started I have tried to quit several times so when I was making out my Will and Living Will, that I will be giving a lethal dose of morphine so I don't suffer in the dying process or suffer at all.

We make the choice to start smoking I'm 49 started when I was 18 have tried to quit but now I have what my parents have COPD I know how I will end up and so does my daughter she too made the choice to start smoking and now she has 2 small kids. That's horrible that one has to go through such things and I hope his family is getting along fine still. But what I always say when asked about my habit is something I hold true to - There is nothing more deadly than life. Your normal, everyday life is absolutely unopposed in that way. If you want to do something less detrimental within an already signed and papered death contract, than that's fine! Just don't influence others to that decision.

@visionvp Agreed, it's easier to quit now than ever before. The combination of bupropion (Wellbutrin/Zyban), nicotine replacement and counselin is more effective than anything else. You don't even HAVE to withdraw from nicotine! Even if you stay on the patches or gum for the rest of your life you'll still far better off than you were smoking, because while nicotine is addictive, it's all the OTHER crap in tobacco that gives you cancer.
