Siren is awesome. The remake is an alright game, but other than some improved controls, everything in the original is superior (bar the shitty English dub).
The second Siren is also very innovative for the survival horror genre.
Check out Fatal Frame 2, RE 4, Rule of Rose (more dark fairy tale than horror), Haunting Ground, Clock Tower 3, Silent Hill 3, and Manhunt 1 or 2. All are worth checking out.
Also about The Thing; the blood tests ARE in fact useless when used on others, however when another player is freaked out, one of the ways to calm them down is actually using it on yourself/others which will in turn calm everyone down a bit. They don't work that way for you though, because as you've experienced, they don't actually work. I would suggest playing through the whole game as well, as it was very well put together. I would suggest playing it on PC though, its much easier to play.

@zackurban Why wouldn't it be an original? Burned discs don't look like that. It's common knowledge that many early PS2 games were on CDs, not DVDs, and that they were purple in color like that. Just as how PS`1 games were always on black discs.
Silent Hill 1 was great, but I too never finished it. It was that freaking piano puzzle that got me. I was still pretty young when I played it so I couldn't ever figure that puzzle out lol.
You should really get Silent Hill 3. For some reason i like it alot better than Silent Hill 2. Mostly because it's more rewarding to play-thrugh the game a few more times due to unlockable costumes and weapons. Also had better voice acting and graphics too. PLUS it' a sequel to the First Silent Hill witch is awsome because thats the only actual sequel.

You should definitely check out Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. It's a very unique and powerful psychological horror game on the GameCube. GEIST is also worth a look too. I'm a big horror fan myself, so if you're looking for certain types of horror, ask away!

As far as bloodrayne... it was either the first or the second (forgots) but the final boss on one of them was really fuking over powered and I remember having trouble beating his ass WITH hacks on which was kind of dissapointing... If anyone could guess which one it was and let me know that would be awesome x)

@J3TSoldier It's not the easiest game ever, come on. I got stuck originally because I didn't conserve ammo enough and literally did not have enough ammo to get past a certain part. It was nothing to do with difficulty, it was simply the scarcity of ammo. The second time, I just never got around to finishing it. Again, nothing to do with difficulty, I just never got back to it. Don't assume that just because someone says they didn't finish a game that it was because it was too hard for them.

RE games are good i just recently had the time to finish the RE 4 i bought at the beginning of year cuz i use to have a 360 but broke down after the 10 time getting it fixed lol so sold it and got a ps2 again and replayed the games i loved including RE, and Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3.
Phatal Frame reaally is a great game!! It has a different kind of scary style, ghosts that u cant see without the 'obscura'... I loved that game, and its not an easy game.

You can spot that by 3 things:
1. Originals have some kind shiny sticker with PS logos
2. There are PS logos on the other side of the disc itself
3. Older discs are purple :)

For a horror gamer, you sure haven't completed a lot of horror games. I love the titles you chose to review, but it seems that you haven't spent a lot of time with any of these.

@ToiletFinger The ones I own currently aren't all the ones I've played. I played plenty on previous systems, and plenty that I USED TO have on PS2 as well that I don't mention here. And lets be fair, it isn't that big of a genre to begin with.

@schwarzess999 That's two franchises vs the dozens in other genres. Yes, there are some big notable games, but compared to other franchises (such as platformers, FPS games, RPGs, etc.) it's quite small.
