I was wondering why it was gone. I watch a lot of series' on The Escapist, but ExtraCredits was definitely my second favorite of all of them. It sucks that this had to happen to them, I respect them a lot and I know plenty of people do to.

I was in total shock when it was gone.

I think what "TheEscapist" did was wrong, but there in close bankruptcy and did what they could, despite how shitty of a way they did it

The company thing that you heard about was what Extra Credit was going to do with the excess money. They had so much extra they were going to start a publishing company for very small developers who were just starting out, and were basically going to try and give very small indie developers with good ideas a chance to start out in the business.

I believe that was the reason why The Escapist demanded the initial $9,000. I can't fathom why they felt entitled to 75% of the donations.

Rockethub was a website they used to raise funds from donations for allison's surgery (in return for some stuff like special episodes), and the escapist decided they get 75% of the donations. Hope that clarifies some things.

While I would like to hear both sides of the story, it seems The Escapist is either hiring too many people and stretching themselves too thin, or they are just poorly handling their money and letting people go without as a result. I am a big fan of Yahtzee and the LRR guys, but this will severely curtail my patronage of The Escapist in the future. Thanks for the update.

@garmaniac : That's the major issue here, I believe.

Having so many contributors, yet lacking funds to properly pay so many of them for long periods of time, is a sign that this depression was hitting them hard. Instead of adding to their video lists, they should have tightened their budgets, pulled a few shows that were not earning anything, and started working on a recovery plan.

Heck, why not use Dave Ramsey's Debt Snowball idea? Pay off your debts from smallest to largest.
