  • This is what I call "Music" just music! Back to the basics!! ....good!!

  • i prefer this to the album version

that beat that they do on all the songs is good but get's a bit boring after a while

  • this isn't any emo death metal music, this is truly haunting. the pain in his voice sounds like a demon falling to the depths of hell and near the end where he's singing "topsy turvey town" frantically in its a bleak reminder that there's nothing he can do to get out of hell.

  • This is so perfect.

  • What scale is that in? Sends chills...

Did anyone notice the smirk at 2:13.

  • Yes, Thom, I'm ready :)

  • Radiohead = Music orgasm.

  • i love it.

  • i love you, thom

  • This is real music at it´t best. I love this song.

  • The facist right huh?

  • I agree

  • jesus christ, this is such a great song, some of the best shit in ten years from anybody...

  • i really dig his vocals, its so unique. I really like it, especially on this song.

  • I love this video and this song.

  • TOPSYTURVYTOWN

  • I think this song is about Tony Blair, the way he "flip-flopped" and turned into a neocon. Or, more generally, the way Democratic/Labour politicians sell out their constituency and whore themselves to the fascist right.

  • yeah...pretty much nailed it. This is what I think, anyway.

  • that makes sense

  • see

    its true

    radiohead's songs cheer people up!!!

  • Woow, anyone have the tabs for this amazing art?

  • What a voice...echoes of We Suck Young Blood, anyone?

  • yes. totally. that was the first one that i thought of. his voice has the same sound here.

but although i like WSYB, this is a better song IMHO. it's cool how you can really imagine how the drums go towards the end of the song... :-)

  • Same key I think. Right? E minor.

  • I love this version too. Thom gives it a really stark feel especially the topsy turvy town bit. I got this and videotape from from the basement. They are little pearls. :)

PS dont think it has anything to do with global warming but I agree with seapokets because this version really grows on you

  • I saw them live last year, the other several thousand people there singing along really drowned Thom's voice out for me. Seeing him here warts and all, without any electronic wizardry is a real pleasure. If it's missing anything at all it's Jonny mashing randomly on an Ondes Martenot or something.

  • This piano version is amazing. I hope that they will keep the essence of the piano playing on the studio version.

  • whole point of this song is, i guess, his incredible vocal and basic rythm of song..

  • this song grows on you. especially this version. it may seem lacking at first, but you will relize how brilliant it is. especially the lyrics, which i think is about global warming.

"The chink in your armor" could be refering to the breaking of the ozone layer.

thats just one example, i found one for every line except "i shall now preform a 180 flip flop"

  • love radiohead..love love love love....

  • me also :)

  • when you just sit down and listen to it its gorgeus.. it needs its time to melt in..

  • yeah, I really didn't like this version at first, mainly because I think the full band DITNU is the best thing I've heard in years. but after I few listens I realised this is just gorgeous... still prefer the full band version though... fuck they better record that!

  • yeah, the piano playing is gorgeous.

i just dont really like it on its own.

    full band is best.

his voice sounds too bare and whiney.

it needs to be backed up by more than a gentle piano.

this song doesnt work as a slow-ish song.

s'gotta have the power of the full band version.

  • I love radiohead and I love thom ... but this recording is just a bit shocking.

    really not thom's best.

videotape from the '...basement' sessions really is incredible though.

sorry, thom, but this is probably the worst your voice has ever been. and your voice is incredible.

  • i like this, but it's true, it doesn't compare to the videotape performance. plus this song needs the whole band, it's just the way it's been made.

  • Shut up you cunt.

  • get fucked

  • weird, i thought this was much better than 'Videotape' and that his voice is absolutely amazing on it. :-)

  • Best band in the world... there's no fucking with me on this one. I would give my bigtoe to get tickets for their new album tour. So if anyone gets hold of a ticket and is short of a big toe message me ;)

You should check out "Videotape" on here too... awesome!

  • the best .hail to the thom

  • Good is good!

  • on the closeups he kind of looks like van morrison on the cover of moondance. like at 2:25

  • Great to know that at this early stage the song already sounds fantastic. Can't wait to hear it once it's had the full Radiohead facelift during recording.

  • this stripped down version is simply gorgeous. but I hope to god they keep the full band version for the next album. its absolutely sublime.

  • holy shit!. yes please thom..

  • what other songs did they do in this session thats on youtube??

  • videotape

  • An epic track wat a masterpeice from the one and only thom yorke!!!!

  • this rules.

  • Orwellian flip-flop

  • "Orwellian flip-flop"

    it's "a 180 flip-flop" actually ;)

  • Awesome. Just love those chords.

  • wat an absolute beast!!!one of the best songwriters!!!
