The Savior said that the greatest commandment is to love God with all one's heart, soul, and being, and that the second is like it: to love one's neighbor as oneself. Many people think, myself often included, that we can flagrantly flout the mitzvah of loving our fellow beings, and make up for it by projected an exaggerated amount of maudlin emotion onto abstract ideas about God. The Savior said that the greatest commandment is to love God with all one's heart, soul, and being, and that the second is like it: to love one's neighbor as oneself. Many people think, myself often included, that we can flagrantly flout the mitzvah of loving our fellow beings, and make up for it by projected an exaggerated amount of maudlin emotion onto abstract ideas about God.
