One thing I'm concerned about is the width of it, i don't normally buy Swiss army knifes, but i would like to know if the width of the knife affects how you use it at all, do you get used to it? and is it more of a domestic tool than outdoor?
@hraid750 I've never carried this knife in a pocket, always an external pouch on my belt. That being said, I easily could pocket carry this as I carry much larger things in many pockets daily. I also carry a backpack daily, so that's an option for me as well. But the belt thing is working so far :)
As for domestic or outdoors, I would be comfortable saying "both". It's expensive, so I don't like using it outdoors, but I have, and it works great! Just not so much with gloves.
@redbird963 In that case, an even better deal than I thought! It's always coming in handy every day, and it's holding up pretty well. No rust yet, but I do take care of it. Perfect for the plethora of small off the cuff modifications here and there, and also for everyday tasks. Thanks for watching!
After viewing this (and a few other) reviews I bought myself a Victorinox Swisschamp (a nice black one) and I absolutely love it. I always carry a Leatherman Charge TTi on my belt, but since I've got this Swisschamp in my pocket, I don't use the Leatherman that much anymore. I just love this Swiss Army knife. And F.Y.I. the can opener works GREAT !!! I never use a normal can opener anymore, always take out the Swisschamp in the kitchen, looks pretty stupid, but works like a charm. Greetings .
@Rikske77 Glad it played a part in your decision to purchase one! I was considering making an updated video that isn't as crappy and kinda irons out the initial misconceptions. Knowing that folks watch these, it might be worth doing.
The Charge TTi is a tool I've had my eye on for some time, a bit out of my price range though, for the time being. The M.U.T. or however it's called is also one that catches my interest. Although, it's hard to beat a Champ with black scales in looks, nice choice!
I also own a MUT, and although I like it very much, I believe it's less usefull as a Charge TTi or a Swisschamp because of it's size. I take the MUT with me when I go hiking in the forest (big knife, big saw ... perfect for the woods) but when I go anywhere else, I'll leave it at home.
I own a couple of Leathermans (Charge TTi, Wave '03, MUT, Skeletool CX, Supertool '94, Style CS and 2 kick's) and I only recently started buying Victorinox, but I'm loving the "friendly" look of the Swiss Army knife, you can use it in a public place and nobody will look at you, but when you take out a MUT or a Skeletool (both have an "aggressive looking" blade) people tend to look scared.
Anyway, bought myself a red Swisschamp yesterday, just can't help myself ... ;-)
@FireArmsResQ By that point, I'd have to throw it in the trunk instead of my pocket! Hey man, thanks for all your comments and views on my vids recently, I appreciate the support!
@Completely1337 I will take the bulk and then some for those pliers. This thing's got a mess of tools, sure, but I get sad whenever I need some better graspers than the tweezer (and that's often). When you get to around this size, another 5mm ain't nothin'.
@DemonHide The Champ came in yesterday, and man, what a great purchase!
It has so many tools wich are actually all usefull to me. The pliers are the thickest tools, but they are very usefull, the wire cutten, wire bender and the pliers themself, used it already and it's great. I was worried for it being to bulky, but it's not al all :) It fitted in my pants in the same pocket as my phone like a glove, not even a tight fit or irritation, just great :)
@Smauges I'd say the SwissChamp is for more outdoorsy/garage stuff, while the CyberTool 34 is better suited to indoors/delicate work. Here's what the SwissChamp has that the CyberTool 34 doesn't: -Saw -File -Chisel -Fish scaler -Magnifying glass And what the CyberTool 34 has that the SwissChamp doesn't: -Bit case -Bits -Bit driver -additional function to ballpoint pen Hope that helps.
@cedwards94 Don't quote me on this, but I think the only difference is that it has a wood file instead of a nail file. But beats me, sorry I can't help you more.
oh yeah and the multipurpose hook is for carrying boxes tied with twine, trash bags, fish chains. It basically turns you knife into a handle so its is easier on the hand. It is rated to withstand about 200 pounds so not bad
this is called the swiss champion plus. The swiss champ is a different model. The swiss champ is the model that replaced the original champion, and this model that you and I have is a the swiss champion brought back with modern tools
there are several versions of the swiss champ. Thats the one without pliers. The version with pliers is around 5mm thicker so it saves you some extra bulk to not have the pliers.

WAY cheaper than the regular champ, and the only thing you don't get is a pair of pliers.

@DemonHide I can imagine, I ordered the newest regular SwissChamp.
At first I thought the pliers would make it too bulky, but what you say sure is true.
When you need those pliers, another 4 mm. won't matter.
If al goes well, I should recieve the SwissChamp tomorrow :D
