  • i hate when people yell out song titles in between songs they want to hear, like is opeth going to be like"ohh this girl shouted this song, ya know lets just change the set to make her happy"

  • Like this comment if you wish you were at this concert RIGHT NOW

  • Im still not a huge fan, but they got all my musical respect

  • A masterpiece by a legendary band !!! \m/ I saw them live only one time unfortunately but they kicked ass that night !

  • The Opeth that I saw recently was not very loud and though I enjoyed that concert, I really wish that I was one of lucky ones present in Royal Albert Hall for this bloody onslaught.. Hail Mikael..Hail Metal \m/

  • seen them twice, god damn professionals! A+++++

  • Is Steven Wilson in in the front row?!

  • The only musical flaw in this whole concert - apart from the guitars breaking down a few times due to the sheer awesomeness of the music that's being played - is the missed pick at 0:36. That single note is by far the most depressing thing ever for me, as it proves to me my insignificance holding a guitar, and it shows us that Mikael is after all a human and not an entity possessed by the gods of metal themselves.

  • @HyPreA you are an idiot

  • SSHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is SO badass

  • /watch?v=LUyQx9cQaD4

We are a band called Watershine and we play progressive metal. Although it's not always so obvious, we are pretty influenced by Opeth, and we would appreciate if you listened to our demo and maybe left a comment :) Please don't mark this as spam, we're just trying to spread our music!

  • this song is SEVERELY underrated

  • I was just turned on to these guys. They are extremely talented, musically. The riffs and melodic intricate time changes really caught my ear. That growl just makes it all the more bad-ass!

Got some good jazz fusion, progressive rock and death metal all wrapped up into a tight little package.

They are coming to Austin on 10/4 so that show ought to be quite interesting.

    ROCK ON!

  • omfg..the solo thingy at 4:44 - 5:50 blew my fu*kin' mind :3 they are so awesome live!!

  • His voice sounds amazing on the album, bit dissapointed at his growl live though, and this isn't just this once...

  • @GooGuGajoob he was using earplugs... which are great for clean vocals, but fucked his death growls. He stated it in a recent interview.

  • @GooGuGajoob hes getting older ...but i think this was just a bad night for him...on roundhouse and every time ive seen them...they sound massive

  • Slow

  • Steven Wilson headbanging 3:44

  • @adriantkst YEAH!!!! lml

  • @adriantkst I just spent five minutes trying to decide if that was actually him.

  • 1:35, tastiest riff in history

  • euro fans are mummies :(

  • I am not english...and i don't know if ecxsist an english word to define how awesome is this.

  • the solo made my balls fall off

  • @TheWargasmic best comment ever!!!!

  • @ 6:35 into it - where they going the last part is Opeth at their finest - !!!!!!!!!

  • This is awesome man!!!!

  • I love how Mikael sways back and forth at @00:53

  • omg Åkesson crushes the solo at 7:46

  • i luv the look on Mikaels face at 0:52 8D

  • The guitar solo at the end is one of my favorites.

  • This was the last song I grew to like on Blackwater Park. At first I thought it was too "death metal" for my liking, but after a year or so of continued listening I've come to appreciate this gem. That list riff is spine chilling. Loved learning it on guitar too.

  • @Claidheambmor Thats funny, this is the song that got me into Opeth.

  • @ChimpFromSpace For me that honour goes to Demon of the Fall and Blackwater Park. I had a really shitty mp3 player at the time (some 512mb monstrosity) and those were two songs my girlfriend at the time put on there for me. Used to listen to them endlessly on the bus to college.

Shame Akesson (or Lindgren for that matter) weren't able to provide that incredible harmonising lead to Mikael's solo at the end of the song on the Albert Hall DVD.

  • when ever i listen to this music it makes me feel like i'm alone in a dark room waiting for death to come

  • 1:33 = FUCKING BADASS RIFF

  • @ryudo113 As awesome as that one is, the one at 2:24 is better.

  • @CrackeTheSkull It's good but not nearly as badass for me. I mean listen to it! IT JUST SCREAMS BADASS!

  • Amazing. It seems that people feel the need to nitpick when they are seeing/hearing something great and when it's less than great, they'll inflate how good it actually is. Stating the obvious?

    Great live interpretation I think.

  • 6:49 proskunw to riff

  • it's good but the studio version for vocals is a lot better... there werent acoustic guitars as well... but liked it

  • i like seeing opeth fuck up every once in awhile :)

it reminds us that they're human.

  • 6:50 is SOOOOO EPIC

with the harmonized vocals and the sheer intensity it's just sooooooo amazing

  • oh god I was so drunk by this stage of the night it's about the last song i remember. sick as fuck

  • That song kill me. That solo kill me every time. Even i hear it thousands of times it still awsome for me.Opeth rulez!

  • saw them in Paris, oh and by the way whoever hits dislike will have its anus penetrated by an elephant :)

  • @stormtrooper86 hell yeah it works!

  • @stormtrooper86 good job hitler. no1 against u till now!! :D

  • SUPERLIKE..it !! thanks for sharing..!

  • Oh fuck!!! It's just amazing!!!

  • Bästa bandet i universum!

  • Shh!

  • IM SO GOING TO BUY THIS :D

  • 3:32 I swear to god he looks like Godzilla breathing fire on Tokyo.

  • The growling is so absurdly heavy. . . YES!

  • HE´S BEEN GROWLING FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS.

HE BETTER STOP THAT, AND MAKE A SOLO ALBUM

  • Unusual growling in this one :P

  • BOW DOWN TO THE GODS...!!!

    HAIL...\m/

  • absolutley outstanding!!!!!!!!

  • One of my alltime favorite songs by Opeth - it's just too amazing to see it live in great quality. Thanks for the up!

  • you wait by the window

    morning's breath on the sill

    idle hands given another try

so you wait and you savour the moment

    outside the canvas white

ruby eyes in the fog yea uhhhhagh

    tanananaaanaanananana tanananaaanaanananana

  • @zackratox Nice!

  • epic performance!

i hope they play this on their next tour.

  • What an underrated song... it's a frrriking masterpiece with 5 solos in it !!!!

  • It's not a different style of growling, in Watershed his voice sounded the same. I'd say his growl changed past the years naturally

  • @Setri123 Its absolutely not sounding the same. He has a sort of background voice while growling, can not appreciate because of that :(. In studio its pure growling, compare and you'll see...

  • @Nick275308 Maybe is a video thing, didn't hear it here.

  • @Nick275308 I know what you mean, Nick - I agree

  • @Nick275308 It wasnt like that on the Roundhouse Tapes.. I think it sounds different here too..

  • he'll hit different octaves every time he plays live... it's not going to sound like the album every time they play live lol. it's nothing to do with his voice going out or anything like that. I just saw them like 5 months ago and he sounded amazing

  • @Sexums Now don't put words in my mouth ^^ I never said his voice was going out nor do I think it is. I don't know about different octaves, but I think he was just tired. About time they make a new album then! :D

  • @pandemichalo92 No i know... i was just making sure you didn't THINK that. Mikael is the man~~~

  • Is it some kind of privilege of "fans" to always (ALWAYS) bitch about what was before and nothing will ever be the same, the new guy sucks, please kill me now, i just can't fucking stand this rape of materiale, I'm serious, here's my pocketknife (or blade, since this is metalfans), I have written an X near my heart, here, come on, chop chop? I'm just wondering.

I love this one, it's my favourite, I think. When Mikael sings... ah.

  • There's nothing like reliving the wonders of that evening at only a moment's notice, with the click of a mouse.

  • amazing

  • so who can write a riff better then this?

  • Axe dont play that nowhere near as good as lopez...

  • Is it just me, or is Mikael very silent and doesn't speak that much on the live DVD's? On the concert i was too, and all the others i have seen on youtube, he jokes and talks all the time!

  • @metallhue he is silent in the first DVD wich is the blackwater park set, the second set it's full of comedy

  • Honestly, before watching this DVD, never pay many attention to this track, when I see play live some songs become attactive to me

and that happened with this song, fucking amazing, one of the highlights of this DVD

  • Opeth for life \m/

  • His voice maybe sounds a bit different at this show, but you can't say its "changed"

performance wise at least, this beats the shit out of lamentations.

  • @conservatory It's probably from all the touring, it's hard to growl and scream like that for 20 years. They tour like CRAZY. I think Mikael should rest as much as he can until the new record.

  • @DcEsp1000 I'm thinking the same, how can he still growl and scream like, for example, in the Lamentations dvd? imo, that's where you can find one of the best or maybe the best growls from mikael, but yeah, 20 years of growling like satan himself it has to be fuckin' tough! But still, I'd give him the credit.

  • @conservatory I agree. His growls aren't as good as they were in the Lamentations time. And he doesn't hold his growls for very long. The positive is that his singing is waaaaaaay better now. Just compare this Hope Leaves version with the Lamentations one.

  • @lipejdc the guitar is tuned down. On lamentations the song is in E but here is in D. He changed his growling style wich sucks

  • @MarianOctavarium dude he had to growl for 3 hours, 6 concerts in a row, day after day, he gets tired... lawl give him a break guys, amazing concert nonetheless

  • @MarianOctavarium the original is in D...

  • @korrupt3r yes you are right. my bad

  • @korrupt3r The guitars in the album version are tuned in standard E, just like this version!

  • @MarianOctavarium I hear this guitars in E too. Why do you say they are in D???

  • such a fantastic track...happy to see them pull it off live for once :)

Is it just me, or do Mikael's grows sound really strange on this recording? Almost like he's trying not to strain himself or maybe he was sick..

Definitely different....not sure i like them as much , and they're up too high in the mix. We'll have to see when the 5.1 recording arrives

  • @xCrumblingMirth

His voice has changed, and not for the better imo.

Anyway, I don't think this beats Lamentations. Something's up with the tone. Sounds too artificial and too bright.

  • @FeedThemCake All the guitars on Lamentations were reamped. The guitars on Roundhouse Tapes and Royal Albert Hall weren't reamped (afaik). That could definitely explain the difference in tone between the two.

  • Such a f'ing awesome track!
