  • I don't even get why zombie Max was flirting with Diana. He's supposed to be an undead, emotionless zomibe.I guess he had such a boner for Wondie his lust for her was able to come back along with his memories as a zombie

  • raporfest, could you tell us exactly what the reason was for Mera to get the red ring of rage? For those who didn't get this comic

  • @gallileotheguineapig because her husband and child died and her status as Queen be revoked. Not to mention Tempest dieing as well.

  • Oh...and I also didn't like how Bruce is Diana's 'one that got away'. I'm sorry I recently reread JLA #91 and I thought they decided on being just frineds....oh Diana of Themyscira...I wish your writers didn't expect your readers to suffer from amnesia..

  • I agree with you to a certain extent. I think it's her LOVE that helps her to be as compassionate and hopeful that she is...which IS kinda stretching it, lol I also think she should have had the Indigo ring...but then she wouldn't have been as scantly clad :P. But meh, you gotta make it work. but GREAT point bringing up Diana's rich history and how that really should have been brought up again. And what ever happened to Sebastian Ballasteros, Antiope, or even a black ring taking over Artemis?

  • I completly agree, you have Myndi Mayer, Menalippe, Antiope, Diana Rockwell Trevor, and Medusa (Medusa being side by side with Max would be pretty interesting). In general it would interesting to see these characters raising and seeing their reaction toward what Diana and the Amazons have done in recent years. Myndi Mayer confronting Diana as Diana Prince would hiairous.

considering she offered the name Diana Prince back in Gods and Mortals.

"Oh darning you look so sassy in that jumpsuit!"

  • I should add I think we both disagree with Diana being the embodiment of love(compassion) in the DCU yet she did kill, Max Lord. Had they not dealt with her feelings on his death before this, I would have guessed she'd be a Red Lantern having kept it inside like Mera has. But again you know how I was saying plot lines need holes to work and well, maybe Red could have broken her out of the Black, but Violent or Blue would seem more likely.

Blue, Hope... Superman. But again, I'm not in charge.

  • opps on (compassion). She was shown in that light spectrum so much, I forgot it was Indigo and not Violet.

  • Well generally Diana is compassion and hope as opposed to rage because most writers generally like Perez, Jimmenz, and Simone portray her as being compassionate, wise, ands caring.

  • :P best part about this mini was the number 3 cover.

  • @xBrandonHexx although i havent read it yeah thats true lol (ps the reason i havent read any thing is because i wait till the events come out and i started reading comics again like a year ago so thats why i always have ?s for everyone

  • I would guess that the soul peering was due to the ring. The point of Max Lord in Infinite Crisis and his power was the link is permanent until he dies or his locked on target does. And that is what clearly made Max evil to others in events from the past, people who helped the JLA funding and such only to die. Turns out it was Max. Pretty good for a retcon.

  • I believe Diana could have looked looked into his soul much like what she did with Captain Nazi in Gail's run and also could have freed Superman's mind from Max's control as well considering how the lasso has been able to do that in the past when Superman was mindcontrolled.

  • yeah, but the writers set it up so that was not the case. Plus Captain Nazis one, a Nazi and two not a telepath or anything other than brawn. That's a bit like comparing apples to oranges. Plus with everything that did happen then, nothing wasn't expected other than Wonder Woman wouldn't kill Max for any reason. Meanwhile, Brother Eye had planned on that and manipulated the situation.

Diana did state in Infinite Crisis about another way... there isn't time. Because u are right, if they had..

  • ..days to work on that and keep the 2 most powerful people involved completely out of the picture, which sure, in retrospect would have been great for the bad guys, but not for the readers.

SO I sure am not saying you are wrong, but situations are relevant to that whole thing. And the core to that was, if it doesn't go THAT way, then DC has no major cross over. No point. Come up with some else, maybe.. but probably not nearly as effective.

Also, the ring freed her from the black.

  • and I'm sure the argument has been made about why not Superman. Why Wonder Woman or why not both have something about them on the inside that makes them special.

From my experience I'd have to say because Superman has always been susceptible to mind control as one of his few weaknesses and with the intel Max has on them, his chances were better than say Mr. Minds or even Lex Luthors who still didn't know half as much about Clark as Max did. Plus he was bombarded with images of Lois dying.

  • What I'm saying is that why couldn't Diana look into Max's soul and show him what the consquences of his actions will be. and that they will only hurt himself and the world. Him elimating all metahumans on the planet, OMACS and mind controlled superman or not is going to leave Earth vunerable to alien and supernatural attacks. His plans of world domination are going to fail since he eventually be under the kneel of someone like Darkseid and I believe the lasso could have shown him that,

  • well, sure, but with how Max has been written during that time and even before with his cutthroat approach to business and hearing the word yes, he would not have bowed out by any means. Even if a flash showed him his ultimate defeat. That's never stopped a real villain before.

  • Well the whole point of Max doing what he did was because he thought superhhumans were too powerful and need to be stopped. Diana could have showed him that it is the super VILLAINS he needs to worry about and that without superheroes, Earth in the DCU would be screwed.

  • Also they could have just knocked out Max which he states will only realese Superman from his control temporally and while he was knocked out remove the part of his brain that gave him powers in the first place since he got them out of mutantion. This did this to another powerful telepath, Manchestor Black.

  • right, but then you have no story. It's like when I watch a movie, and I start to tear it apart about how unrealistic it is or what they should have done or what makes more sense but not to these idiots... I have to stop myself before I ruin any chance I have to actually enjoy it.

Hell, Zatanna could have taken care of it to. But again, then we have no epic story. I think it's drawn out now that in Wonder Woman's mini for Blackest Night as you pointed out, Max isn't the only one who would be in

  • Yeah but there's just some stories that shouldn't be told because they are out of a character just like things like Emerald Twilight and One More Day.

  • Depends cause for every like 10000 fans that didn't like One More Day... there is one that does and in this case me.

Did you not like Infinite Crisis? I loved it so for me everything was great. I mean, Blue Beetle was one of my favs and when he died, I was like this is going to be epic. That JLA team with him, Max, Booster and Guy, Fire, Ice the Giffen/McGuire era was my JLA and they got absolutely destroyed and I'm OK with it cause the alternatives to me.. wouldn't be as good.

  • and you know as far as us the fans go, if we had 'our' say, Silent Invasion would have gone down differently, totally. Civil War would have never happened. Final Crisis would have been something else. Dick Grayson would be dead. So on and so on.

When it comes to comics and as a fan, I have very little input, so I roll with what they are doing and why they are doing it. The Max thing is said and done, but the fact this current mini revolved around that does suck. When it could have been..

  • .. different in our eyes :P

The age old saying, don't cry over spilled milk is the way I go about comics. I didn't cry when Ted Kord died (at least not on the outside), but I looked forwards to everything there after because of his death. Same with Max for me during Infinite Crisis as well.

As I have agreed the Max thing could have been handled differently back then, it wasn't and for the sake of their work.. not mine, it couldn't go any other way.

  • I have to agree for a closer it was not great. I liked the 3 issues, but just not as good as the others and as you stated missed opportunities which I also felt was missing from Flash, Batman & Superman Blackest Night mini's. More than the last 3 years of big storyline stuff coming back only.
