@manxdude1 An Armor Piercing round is usually tipped with metal, and is jacketed with metal (Full metal jacket) This gives the bullet more structural stability, and lets it penetrate deeper (A.K.A Armor Piercing)

Cops should have rifles in their cars. Mini 14's or AR 15's with different types of ammunition available would be decent for such confrontations.

@manxdude1 An Armor Piercing round is usually tipped with metal, and is jacketed with metal (Full metal jacket) This gives the bullet more structural stability, and lets it penetrate deeper (A.K.A Armor Piercing)

I saw this shootout on the news the day it happened, since then the last few soconds have been edited out. The last gunman took rounds to his legs from shots under the car, the cops come around car and he put sup his hands.The annoncer here will tell us "He later died from his wounds". What has been edited out is the Poilce executing the second robber with head shots when they swarmed him. Politicly incorrect so its not shown,can't blame them,all jacked up and trading rounds for several minute

@Grawr93XD Hell, I think if these guys took well aimed shots it would have been a bad day for law enforcement. Not too sure how you take well aimed shots with all that excess body armor but hell... anything would have been better then they're 'Spray and Pray' tactics.

@Grawr93XD Go play COD. The AK was the best gun for them. Their "spray and pray" tactic would work a hell of a lot worse with a semi M4. AKs are fairly easy to convert to full-auto illegally.
And just regular 7.62 FMJ will pierce typical law enforcement body armor and cars no problem.

@mit871chell No body armor available to non-military personnel can withstand more than a few rounds from an M16, assuming it's not using hollow-point ammunition.

@OfficerNelson never seen 5.56 hollowpoints... more of a pistol buff then rifle. Are there 5.56mm hollow point ammo on the market? We just used green tipped ball ammo and red tipped tracers in the corps when I shot on the range.

@S0UT5 There is, but it is relatively rare. And the gunmen in this video used AP rounds, so no standard body armor could protect the cops.
