  • Empire Strikes Back AND Back To The Future on HBO! Even though I have both of those on blu-ray with a widescreen plasma TV, I still miss those days...

  • MS Sam reference

  • rated R

  • The year, if I remember, was 1987, because I remember "Back To The Future" was a new release that month.

  • @olddocVenkman 1986. Back To The Future came out in 1985. Released on cable and for rental the following year. Back when movies were in theaters for longer than 2 months then released on dvd/blu-ray.

  • Holy crap, so I DIDN'T dream that!

  • Note to the wise, the credits at the beginning of this video, that were cut off for this video, was from The Empire Strikes Back.

  • that rules, why cant networks have a sense of humor now as they did back then

  • I remember when this was because that month they showed Back to the Future and Return of the Jedi back to back, and I watched every single time.

  • Star Wars followed by Back to the Future? God, HBO used to be great!

  • holy fck that is back to the future!

    awesome!

  • no shit

  • LOL cute and YAY BACK TO THE FUTURE!

  • This was April 1, 1987. It took BTTF nearly two years to make it to premium cable. Had my VCR running at 8am for the first showing (yes, I'm a geek).

Re: where do ppl find this stuff...uh, in their closets or even living rooms. Those who cherish their tape collections know exactly where they are.

  • Yep. I still have my copy of the 2nd airing of the original STAR WARS (the first airing was at 6am). There is an audio clip by Anthony Daniels which was omitted. It was in the scene when they were trying to locate the shield's power generator. In the HBO brodcast, they just show R2 showing specs of the death star on a monitor. In the versions since, in the scene 3PO explains that there are multiple terminals and that a power loss at one of the terminals will shut down the shield generator.

  • I remember watching this when they did it, in utter shock, and thinking the TV station had been hijacked or something. This was really unnerving back in 1980, I remember being flooded with emotions of anger and disappointment at my most treasured TV outlet being corrupted like this. TV and HBO really meant something to people back then, not like today. If you had HBO it almost elevated you to the upper class, it was a status symbol.

  • Is that good to be part of some Upper class status? what about the kids who cant afford hbo?

  • this misguided notion that everyone DESERVES an equal share of a commodity is bullshit; it's called 'marxism'.

  • Yes, and marxism is a damn good theory, if only it worked...

  • ahahahahahh!

  • you know what's funny though is they did the universal logo and i went "..are we watching back to the future?" without even knowing it was going to be up. I'd say i've seen the movie too many times but that's impossible.

  • Lol, I was just about to make a post saying the exact same thing!!! I knew it was BTTF before "Steven Spielberg Presents" even came on the screen...we are some TRUE movie buffs!

  • I would like to hear Peter Griffin singing the HBO in space tune someday... it would be hilarious lol =)

  • Classic! I'd assume this would be 1986 perhaps? The MPAA disclaimer looks like the one my parents have on a copy of "Airplane."

  • HBO's showing 'Back To The Future', so it has to be 1986.

  • Precisely what I thought. Thanks!! :-)

  • Welcome. :)

  • If you ever have any questions about any of my videos, just ask. I'm pretty good with where my source material came from.

  • HELP ME!

I remember seeing a movie on HBO about how the world would look like if the nazis invaded it.

I forgot name lol can someone tell me??

  • Was it a comedy?

  • No drama it was called FatherLand

  • It's sweded!

  • lol, funny intro and a damn good movie to watch afterwards, Back to The Future.

  • I remember seeing and adult version of the intro once when I was a kid late at night. I remember there being silouettes of people having sex in the model city's building windows and the the rating announcer explicityly stating the bodily functions you are likely to see and hear that would justify the rating. Anyone have a copy of that strange intro?

  • I remember that! My brother and I were fooled into thinking the channel was somehow hijacked. LOL!

  • Well, the noise DOES sound a lot like the Max Headroom pirate. xD

  • Oh I Remember these,ha ha.

  • How do people find this stuff??? Its awesome but wtf??

  • @WCWite I guess they look at old stuff for some reason and find an old VHS and watch it to see if it's any good.

  • Funny intro for Back to the future.

  • This video makes me laugh.

  • I always love when TV stations/movie studios spoof themselves like this. It's always a great laugh.

  • Lol at UPT

  • I see the 1972 Universal logo at 00:57!

  • Universal Pay Television? Never seen that logo before...

  • Used to see that one at the start of Halloween II

  • that is because HBO is spoofing for April Fools.

  • Not part of the spoof. If I remember correctly, Universal (and other companies) had unique logos for cable.
