A True Patriot is to a Politician, what a Mongoose is to a Cobra. Perhaps Betty knows that all people die. But their ideas don't. Their Legacy is in how they Live, in the knowing that Truth will prevail. When Patriots would be Public Servants.
Did she say she wouldn't eat until impeachment proceedings start, or until they are impeached? A person her age would only be likely to last a month or two fasting, unless she is taking juices. I guess she is planning to fast to the death, because of her quote, "I've had a good life and I can't think of a better way to end it".
I'll forward the announcement to my impeachment-scoffing friends. Along the lines of Betty's action, war tax resistance (eg. the Quakers) helps people think.
I'm pretty sure it's until they start hearings. I was thinking along similar lines that it's a REALLY big deal for somebody who's not in peak physical form to take this on. It's huge for somebody who is too actually but it could get on top of her fast and she might not recover her strength when it's over.
Cool, HackerWorm turns into CitizenWorm ;D Your glasses make you look like a hacker :)
Yea, Ithaca is great for Grassroots. The video project seems good idea.
Hmm, I have this feeling there's going to be an earth quake soon in upstate NY. Yea, lots of preminissions, it's a vibe I can't ignore, so I hope for the best
There's definitely some weird energy about in these parts. People dying and threatening suicide...a dude missing, another dude hit by a train....weirdness.
There has never been anyone who deserved impeachment more than Bush/Cheney but if you look at the history of impeachment it is not practical. When Nixon tried to withhold evidence (the tapes) it took a year for the supreme court to order him to turn it over. Bush would not turn anything over citing national security and by the time the supreme court ruled on that it might be too late although there is an example that I can't remember offhand where someone was impeached after leaving office.
I think there is a value in having impeachment hearings. That way they can be compelled to testify. We have to have open investigations of this stuff and the House Judiciary committee seems like a good place to start.
The republicans walked out yesterday to keep from voting on contempt citations on people who refused to testify. When Clinton was impeached 5 witnesses fled the country and 115 took the fifth. It needs to be done but but don't don't expect too much.
Well, I wouldn't put anything past them but we need to have immediate investigations into pretty much every activity of the last 7+ years. It's going to be nasty but the only hope we have at this point is make sure this crap sees the light of day and massive changes are made by and for citizens as a result.
I agree completely. Hold hearings. It needs to be done by anyone who held up their right hand and pledged to protect the constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic. It needs to be done for both moral and legal reasons but I don't expect it to go anywhere in the time frame of the last year of this administration.
Yeah, school is great. But we've got important work to do. That's what my next video will be about. I think that this plan allows for my counterculture time, school time and hard core political activism.

Sounds like a large wall calendar would be useful for mapping out your plan. :)

All I intend to do is watch things, hope they improve, smoke a lot of weed, drink myself into a coma, and die. Don't be like me...

First step...hold fucking hearings!

Excellent. I'm SO out of it.
I'm beginning to think that "the system" cannot be fixed.
Hell YEAH. Get that degree. Life is harsh, when you don't have a piece of paper stating that you know stuff.
I like the benefits of the scene.
