  • it's easier to play Gmaj7 by just moving your pinky to fret 2

    (if you're having trouble)

  • If your new and you can't play this... don't be discouraged!

When he says practice, he means long term. When you learn an instrument, you never stop practicing and learning. If you don't sound great now... remember that this dude didn't sound great once too... don't give up and one day you'll nail songs like this on your first try...

  • hey just wondering if anyone can take a minute and check out my videos. Please like, dislike, or leave a comment letting me know what you think. Thanks!

  • this doesn't exactly help...

  • dirk nowitzki ?!

  • @KaltesWasser11 WINNING!!!

  • It doesnt sound like that on unplugged guitar...

  • does this works with a classical guitar?

  • @nuriaxdsousa I won't sound exactly the same since the classical uses different type strings but the chords will work the same.

  • This is the guy that tought me how to play Guitar...If you want to check out one of my cover's just go to my channel.Remember when i put the video up it was only after playing guitar for 3 months!!!(so go easy on me)

  • Hi, I have been playing bass and electric guitar for a couple of years and fancy learning acoustic, just wondered what people here think of as a good multi purpose steel string brand for around 500Us/ £300 UK? Cheers a lot guys, keep rocking ;)

  • god i wish i had that guitar

  • So far the best guitar teacher, IMHO. And I don't mean the most skilled one, but the most inspiring one!

  • u talk more than u teach man :/

    u suck :/

8 mn talkin ans just 2 mn teaching

  • @AcousticTeen There's nothing wrong with being personable with a lesson, i'd rather have my teacher comfortable with what he is doing than being all stiff and nervous. It just makes it more enjoyable to listen and pick up.

  • thank! it nice.

  • omg it's fantastic xD

  • dude acoustic guitars are epic! you should be ashamed!!! :P

  • u sound like an sports host :D

  • Nice video..you looks like Dirk Navitski

  • Thanks for saying it okay to practice with electric.I don't like practising on my BORING acoustic.I think it's very important to buy a guitar that you really like and that is playable for yourself so you don't get bored and frustrated.

  • @cambruoso acoustic guitars aren´t boring .. they are awesome!

  • Learning this is easy, i'm watching, and playing. I thought this would be a tad difficult, i was wrong!

  • Looks like Kipkay's and Dr. house's third brother

  • dude you are out of tune but other than that cool....

  • After watching numerous lessons from martysongz I would have to say your probably the better teacher you teach more about the music rather than some famous songs. Rock on brother.

  • I love this guy, u can tell that hes played this a lot, but each time he plays it, it still brings a smile, a gleam to his face which shows me tht hes a true guitarists. ROCK ON MAN!

You can now play your favorite video on the page itself, and if you like to check out other videos, that wont be a problem, for the preceding video will automatically stop playing without dawdling its buffer time! Also, you can now download mp4 format for your mobile phone!

Nice video. It helped me alot! Thank you so much

  • What I'm struggling on the most, is the palm muting part, every time I try to do it, i still hear some of the other strings, can someone give me some advise on how to perfect it? thanks.

  • @demondagger19 unfortunately the only answer to that is practice

  • I gave up when you said Let's play a D! LOL

  • David i've watched a lot of your stuff and you are officially my guitar hero!

I probably learned more in 1 month from your videos than i did in 2 years from my books!!

    Watch on good people :-)

  • In my honest opinion as a guitar player I felt that the pointers my teacher gave me to only focus on the downstroke at the beginning was detrimental to the progression of my playing. Bad habits can be hard to kick....... I'm warning you

  • "david chalp here from next! level! guitar! DOT!! COM!!" awesome

  • give us a tip about how to hold the pick .

  • Can I invite you to listen to some of my original acoustic rock music recorded with my laptop in my basement.

    See you there,

    Eric

    Eric Wagner's Lucid Interval

  • Wow I've been playing for about five months now and if I would have looked for tutorials in YouTube before I would probably play way better than I do now. Thanks alot man. Oh and I give you props for staring at the camera the whole time.

  • Nice teaching dude! Way to go!!

  • looks like kipkay

  • You do realise that this is wrong? You break rythmic movement of right hand and kill rythm playing. Hang shoud move continously, that was the first thing I learned about rythm playing.

  • finally, a person that's not with expertvillage

  • @GunFreak270 Yeah these guys are great I have their vids they are great vids. Experts are the worst jokes on the net, sorry expert village you guys are laughing stock of the entire net! period!!!!!!!!! How is it tha they can get students, I have no idea!! • i love you dude ^^

  • great job dude good tips.sometimes i forget the basics.

  • you look like nicholas cage..

  • hey,i would really like to ask about guitars.I bought a new guitar and when I play chords, the chords sound different..is it because of the tuning or new strings?I tuned the strings properly but its still sounds the same.Pls help me out.thx

  • @sakiferg It took me about a year before I found the strings that sound best on my guitar. Try different kinds of strings to see what sounds best. Also, your guitar most likely won't sound the same as his, the idea is to find what sounds best on your guitar. I really like D'Addario medium gauge BTW

  • 1 - 2+ - +4+ me gusta

  • this rhythm sounds sick and its easy. thanks

  • ok question . . . which company's acoustic guitars are better . . taylor or martin

  • @chazyfizle taylor

  • Ha! I caught the obscure reference to "Singles" - if you're going to have the operation, have the operation..... Great movie with a great soundtrack. I'm afraid by watching your videos, my "Bad Guitar Channel" will be less bad. Peace, out.

  • thx nice tuto

  • I love this dude! When I was a kid guitar teachers made it so boring to learn, I'm driving down to my parents this weekend and I'm going to grab my old Ibenez acoustic. The online guitar community makes it so much easier....wish I had the Internet as a kid LOL making me feel old :-D

  • i like this video thakns men :D

  • that sound that your guitar makes its just beautiful

  • hey thank you very much indeed! I do think this one is a great lesson. Excellent quality and good pacing! keep on posting !

  • Verry nice! where can i find chords secuence like d dmaj7 g gmaj7 em a d with that mood style??? thanks

  • That taylor sounds really good.

  • whats up dude where do you get your e-booklet

  • Hi - just click the link below the video in the text box - the link is in blue and follow the pages to get the free E booklet - enjoy and rock on!

    David T

  • David,

This is really cool! Thanks for taking the time to make these wonderful videos!

  • even I don't play guitar, I enjoyed the lesson.

    Thanks.

  • im a begginer and stuff..when i practice chords and i try switching to diffrent chords i always have to pause..is there anything i can do to help me get better than that or is the only thing i can do is practice..? and this is really really good btw!

  • Hi - dowload the E booklet that we have for free - just click on the link in blue under the youtube video and we will email you the booklet for free - it has chord changing techniques that will help your chord changing and much more

    enjoy and rock on!

    David T

  • @ekafreaka123 try muting before going to the next chord it helped me, the more you play the better you get

  • @ekafreaka123 just a tip, choose an easy song with a few chords. then slow it down so much u can hit the chord changes without the pause even if that means it is really slow. u will then start to get the timing between the right and left hand. a few decades of practice later and u will rock.

  • @ekafreaka123 PRACTICE, IS THE ONLY WAY!

  • @ekafreaka123 practise.

  • @ekafreaka123 practice practice practice ! practice makes perfect ! guitar needs lots and lots of practice so its just about the practice thats all u can do , i remember when i was a begginer i got so frustrated about changing chords but its ok keep on trying u will eventually get it !

  • @ekafreaka123 Uh,don't think of music as in a full song...I had that problem big time.

  • @ekafreaka123 the more u practice your chords the easyer they come the more you play the quicker you get on chord changes

  • ummmm can anyone say thumbs up?

  • Is that cedar top?

  • yes, the guitar I am using in this lesson is a Taylor GS5 and it is all solid woods with a cedar top and tropical american mahogany back and sides. The cedar gives it a rich mellow tone - love that cedar top. Rock on!

    David T

  • @rockongoodpeople DAVID T! SNAP!

  • Love it Dave. Thanks

  • You rock!

  • Dave what sort of P.A are you using because it sounds cool , i have a Taylor 614ce with the expression system , probably have to save some serious cash for that set up keep on rocking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the best from scotland.

  • David is truly an inspiration.

  • most the people that bring thier guitars to school play that metronome type playing and sing (shittly) over it, i think i am gonna show them this video so they dont play that every beat 70bpm crap, this is a good video

  • is that an acoustic electric?

  • yes - this guitar is a taylor GS5 with the expression system built in so it has the pickups and preamp built into the guitar stock at the factory - the expression system is awesome as you can just plug right into a PA and its crystal clear - it rocks!

    take care

    David T

  • @rockongoodpeople

It sounds beautiful. I kinda want this guitar now... too bad the economy is bad and I have no money. All well, I guess I'll just stick with my homemade one.

  • Great lesson, Dave. I'm thinking of signing up for the subscription to NextLevelGuitar. Is there a specific acoustic path to follow?

    Thanks,

    Don

  • I LOVE YOU DAVE <3

    NICE LESSONS

  • I have a song in my head now that starts with that Maj to Maj7 sound but I can't for the life of me think of the band or song and it is doing my head in as the tune is going round and round in my head. The song was by a British band (I think from Liverpool) around 1996-1997.

  • @Zed1967 oasis?

  • @22Toomey

Oasis are from Manchester not Liverpool, I'm thinking more The La's but I've been listening to songs by The La's on you tube and not found the song that is in my head. When I find the song I'll post which one it is on this video. It was deffo out between 96-97 as I remember where I was working when it was on the radio.

  • nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D

  • i bought a electric guitar over a year ago but have not had the time to even pic it up and learn with all my college commitments running for almost 4 years now, ill be finishing in july and i hope to spend time learning. i actually have 2 guitars one of which is my Brian may red special

  • his guitar is great. my yamaha g-170a never sounds that good..
