The infected see you as a enemy and will mostly try to kill you, not eat you.

They only bite to spread an infection and its part of a human weapon.

Special infected are mutating commons, like the smoker, he could have developing cancer from smoking, the virus changes to that, and the human will fall victim to a transformation.

This is probably my favorite mutation so far-- it's a real challenge, but as long as you're sharp and pay attention, you can get through it. That being said, I've yet to beat a campaign in this mutation...
