  • i live in Truro and it put a hole in my trailer lmao, we had to go to a hotel and stay

  • i know all of the damage isnt good but i remember havin so much fun during that time

  • my grandparents live in halifax, my grandfathers 1989 mercury grand marquis got blown through the living room window

  • I SHARE SOMETHING I WAS THINKING TODAY:

    YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE PAST.

BUT YOU CAN RUIN THE PRESENT

    BY WORRYING OVER THE FUTURE.

    LOVE....AND YOU SHALL BE LOVED

  • Here on the south west part of the province it was not too bad, I don't recall losing power. We went to halifax just after this and it was quite a sight.

  • this was really bad I was living in Halifax when the storm hit . you never know when a storm like that is going to hit again hope it don't happen cause it's really hard at times to prepare for it.

  • Cool video; I love your use of Dido's "White Flag" as the background music! I live in the Annapolis Valley, so the storm did not affect us here that much; but my brother was living in downtown Halifax at the time, and he said he was scared his house was going to collapse!

Juan may have caused a lot of damage to our beautiful province, but it did not break our spirits!

  • Crazy storm. It got little coverage nationally tho, and a few years later I was talking about it to some relatives who live out West, and they hadn't even heard about it.

  • i missed the storm but that year i got hit by a drought i could hear the wind on phone

  • A huge pine tree fell right on our house I will never forget the sound we could hear it snap then the sound of it falling then the the impact I will never forget this storm and I hope ns don't have any more like it

  • i was exactly 10 years old when this happened...my mom slept through the whole thing while me and my brother looked out the window. however a branch flew very close to the window and we never bothered to look again.....what a mess it made the next morning

  • I had no power for 9 days and had to work the day after the storm. I remember working from 1 or 2 that day until 1 or 2 the next morning. I was spent. I also remember the mess in my neighbourhood for days and days. Climbing over trees and wires. There are still visual reminders everywhere that remind us of that day. Along with this video of course. :)

  • @seteben Luckily we had a old woodstove sitting in our basement. We brought it upstairs and put it on our deck. Then we cooked everything we had and ate it over a period of a few days.

  • @seteben i had no power for almost 2 weeks

  • I remember not having power for like a week or something, decided it would be a good time to go camping lol. Turns out we had to hack our way through the woods for like an hour to get to the spot it took us 10mins to get to before the storm.

I remember a tin shed full fo sports gear was blown up a hill in my neighborhood, you could trace random sports gear to the origin a few blocks away.

  • My wife and I drove around in this and I remember her watching above us for falling branches and wires and I drove around fallen branches and wires and avoided puddles that were very deep. It was something Ill never forget. I cant imagine what Haitians and other areas that have devastation like this feel like.

  • The one thing I remember most about this hurricane... As a serving member of the Navy, we were officially called out within 48 hours to help clear things. Unofficially, the military started to help clear things ad hoc the very first morning to open major streets. Citizens provided us additional chainsaws, gas, snacks, etc. to help us get the main roads cleared for emergency vehicles - that will always stand out for me. Good job.

  • i remeber that it ripped the parks apart

  • There were a lot of injuries but not a lot reported. It was a nasty storm for sure. It made us aware that it could happen to us here in Nova Scotia.

  • my student teacher broke her leg in the hurricane

  • I couldn't get a Damn Beer for about 2-3 days. That was the worst!!

  • Brace yourself for Danny, it gonna effect any where from Ottawa, to St.Johns (including NS)

  • juan was amazing and dont forget about white juan people ( :

  • I live in Dartmouth and it was rainy firstly and not as windy as I thought it was going to be. All said and done this was not a big storm compared to Juan.

  • Juan was devasting, think of what happened to point plesent park...

Bill atm, is just rain and wind, this is NOTHING like Juan, Juan came in during high tide so we had parts where it was like a Category 4...

  • This is scary... not the fact that hurricane Bill is on its way... the fact that nobody can spell properly in Nova Scotia

  • Well, I can, and apparently so can you. So there's at least two people.

  • Haha, get ready for Bill!!

  • this was realy bad

  • No, actually, it's not going to be as bad as some say.

  • bill will be fun yay!! now catagory 1

  • yeah i live in here and juan was awesome.

  • Everyone ready for Bill? lol

  • It's my first year living here, and this is the first hurricane i'll be going threw here in Nova scotia. I'm so scared for Bil, everyone is saying it might be another Juan because noone prepared for Juan last time and noone is taking Bill serious.

  • Haha I'm excited. I love hurricanes.

  • I fucking slept through it lmfao!!! I was in grade 3 and i went to bed early and it never woke me up but it hit right where i was living lol halifax

  • What a devestation. I wasn't living here then. Will this year, another El Nino year, be just as bad or more devastating?

  • I am not sure about that but this storm sure was nasty because we were not completely repaired or were we experienced with them. After this and White Juan we should be fine after any storm!

  • @shryley El Nino is usually good for slowing Hurricanes. The winds blow opposite.

  • How did you ever get a copy of my video? I made this about a week after the storm. Thought I was the only one with a copy...

  • I am glad you put this here. I just accidentally found it. This is my city, I grew up here and this was devastating. We have rebounded but I won't ever forget it!

  • i slept thrugh the whole thing then woke up in the morning and was like WTF??!! someone called my mom in the middle of the night and was like 'The world is ending outside and your sleeping!?!?'

  • sdame i slep through it and my mom called me out on the deck and was like wtf?!?!? cause the trees where burned and the sky was red so she thought the woods was on fire!! lol

  • This was on my freakin birthday..lol.

  • i remeber that..

a car almost crashed when it was driving in the storm because a giant branch fell

    the sad thing is..

my power was out for 5 days...all the food went bad :(

  • The song is from Dido. The name of the song is White Flag off the Life For Rent album.

  • Peter Kelly Btw lol I remember that whole strom :( my dads friend was the guy who die in ambulance.

  • when this happend i woke up and seen a big tree leaning on against my house lol

  • cool movie made em kinda sad for a moment..btw wat's the song called?

  • Well as you can see, now, the songs come up on the bottom of the video. Thanks to YouTube. The song is White Flag and the singer is Dido.

  • I went to work the next day. Worked for 18 hours as we were one of the only restuarants open and with power in the city. I got to work and owners were serving people. Owner asked me to get drink orders from tables. There were about 12 or 13 tables at least. I said "which tables?", he replied, "all of them!!". It took me a long time and people were not so happy. I couldnt believe I was getting a hard time from these people after all that had happened. Jackasses...

  • I slept throught the entire thing on Hollis St. and was shocked when I couldn't find coffee in the morning.

  • man...i got up the morning after the hurricane and there were 3 barbeques in my backyard and the apple tree from our neighbours up the street in the front yard

  • i live were the hurricane ashore which is sambro and the eye came ashore at crystal cresent beach which isnt very far from my house, the total damage to 1 person belongings was around 1 million dollars and the harbour was a clutter of wharfs, buildings etc floating blocking the harbour

  • I couldnt get out of my backyard door due to fallen wires and of course the trees were everywhere. I lived in the Dal area and that was one the worst hit areas due to the old trees. It took weeks for that area to get cleaned up.

  • Wow! Back in '76 I lived on the corner of Charles and Agricola...saw it in the video! Thanks for sharing.

  • Youre welcome. Funny thing is, I took my computer to a guy who fixed it and in the process he put this video on the computer. His name and credits are at the end of the video.

  • that hurricane was crazy!!!

trees were blocking the road and the road to queensland beach was completely washed away!! even some marine creatures died by getting washed up on shore!

  • I remember that happening!

  • i was in grade three when this happend, remember in january when we got white juan?

  • Good times all around B)

  • Haha i was in florida at the time just coming back and we were coming through new brunswick and on the raido "And the state of emergency has been lifted from halifax" WTF :P , at least i didnt need to shovel the driveway

  • shovel the driveway?

  • wow i remember this storm it was crazy and i went out and played in it!

  • I remember when this hit i was about 14 or 15 when it hit
