i luv sport bikes. just like a cruiser style more. and sitting up in a cruiser bike fits the cage free ideal more so than a sport bike. the rush is amazing, but near huging the bike with your face behind the windshield isnt at all relaxing to me. thats a position for the drag strip or something, hence the name 'sport'bike. cruisers are exactly like they sound. you cruise on a rolling couch that has the deep rumble of a sweet v twin. even then, harley has some major potential for performacne.
harley has a near monopoly on cruisers due to the fact that they are well priced (for a cruiser) and are extremely reliable and comfortable as well. not to mention such a rich history of both the cultural aspect and the racing aspect.
uncomfortable? ive been on both. cruisers are more comfortable. probably because you sit up in a more relaxed position. and the vibration thing is bs. no gear? its called a leather jacket an a skull cap. you dont need any more since cruisers dont go 150 and dont do wheelies
They are all the same when a car pulls out in front of you ! And they all look and feel the same when you pick them up off the ground. Have your bike were it needs to be at the time it needs to be there.
@996artichoke ive ridden both and the sportbikes are much more comfy. Im 6'2" @ 230lbs. just dont get a seat thats made of .500" styrofoam on ur sportbike LOL
People who rant about one type or the other are plain idiots, period. I have one of each. They all have their pluses and minuses. Ride what you like and stfu.
when you get a little older you will figure it out. 400 miles in 26 hours please! i do a run to the mountains every weekend in the summer its 390 miles one way to the cabin and we do it in about 6+ hours and not the least bit sore.if i have my windshield on im not even tired when i get there.and 99.9% of the time we get there we wash up use the bathroom and we hope back on the bikes and go out to eat nearest place is about 30 miles. all Harley baggers and never a complaint never.most of us 2 up
I know I wasnt supposed to watch but couldnt resist. Ive ridden a few sportbikes which I think I real cool, fast, and fun. But damn im 6'2 and all my weight is crushing my nuts on the tank. My harley is alot more comfortable as I have extended forward controls and drag bars. Its also not sluggish like everyone says they are. To each is own im not a poser with tons of crome and leather, I dont hate sportbikes either. . Some folks buy trucks to haul wood, some folks buy sports cars to haul ass
@HeavyHitter5150 You're not kidding. This video is a year and a half old and is the only video of mine that ever gets comments. Cats vs. dogs, republicans vs. democrats, pc's vs. mac's, and harley's vs. sportbike's, the never ending arguments.
@Kodiak31415 Yep. I won't even participate in them anymore, I'm too busy riding my Harley, working on my classic CBR 600 or rippin on my dirt bike. Lol! Quads now? Well, that's another thing! ; )
I've done plenty of 500+ mile days on my zx6r with no issues, I road about 40 miles on my dads cruiser and I was in pain. I don't under stand why people think cruisers are that much more comfortable either. Not only is it the general public but even a lot of riders think that way.
to each his own, i have ridden my gixxer and my electraglide.the gixxer is for short trips and the glide is for longer trips, dont put them both in the same category because they are not. it doesnt always have to come down to who is right or who is old, i am 44 so i guess i am old to the twenty somethings but whatever . when you guys are in your forties your outlook will change as well.
You have obviously never ridden one whiner. You don't even have any idea what supporting your country is. Probably drive a Honda car to. DIE IN A HELL FIRE jap crap
@htrdlincoln I guess if supporting your country means suffering on an inferior motorcycle thats more about making noise than doing anything else properly than I am most definitely guilty. let the insults ensue!
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! - How is buying a bike on which most of the componentry and EVERY piece of chrome comes from overseas "supporting your country"? Wanker.
They say that riding a sport bike in twisties is great but it seems to be for younger adrenalin junkies, more of a racing type of trip. You don't see much when your leaning left and right with your throttle wide open, down and upshifting the whole way. I compare a sport bike rider style as a crystal meth user and a cruiser rider style as a heroin user. pick your poison. I ride a Harley but I would not mind trying the same trip on XR1200, or Busa. It's the same tree just a different branch. lol
I don't have the bias against sport bikes like you do Harleys but you probably ride around town and an occasional trip. My Harley is 2 years old with 31K miles. My rides are Iron Butt rides, with my last ride at 1500 miles in 22 1/2 hours, obeying all the speed limits (something many sport bikes can't do). Again, I don't dislike sport bikes just the a holes that think that wheelies in traffic is cool. BTW, I ride with full gear, not shorts & flip flops like many sport bikes and some idiot HDers.
i guess the whole Harley thing is a bit overplayed, but its just preference like a cadillac vs lexus. both my parents ride Harleys (Dad: 2007 Heritage Softail Classic, Mom: 2010 Fatboy Lo) and i love them i dont have a problem going several hundred miles on the back. I also love sport bikes and for my first bike thats what im looking at, but i still respect other peoples opinions and this is the first youtube video ive seen concerning Harleys that has respectable people saying to each their own.
my guess is your under 40. i for one use to love sport bikes but they no longer love me. iv been riding cruisers for the last 10 years and yes its a RoadKing classic Harley my 3rd one and if you think 400 miles in 26 hours is a lot of riding. well it may be on a sport bike but on a good cruiser ill go that far for coffee on a sunday ride
I got a cruiser back before the market went “cruiser crazy” during the 90’s decade. Purchased a new 92 Suzuki Intruder 1400 and it was a gorgeous bike. But I found that it hurt my back until I raised the padding in the seat by about two inches. After I did that, it wasn’t bad, but still nowhere near the comfort level of my old Honda Sabre. Rode some Harley'ss for half a day and after it was over as I got back on my Intruder to go home…Now this is a really nice bike.
While I can understand that many riders prefer the cruiser type of bike (each to their own, right?), I don't get the Harley mystique. Similar style, and perhaps better performing and more reliable, motorcycles can be purchased for a lot less money.
That said, you've gotta hand it to them for being so successful in promoting and selling that mystique, and the so called "Harley Lifestyle". Whatever the hell that is!
I averaged 550 miles a day for 18 days... two days over 600 (one over 700)... had no problems at all... where as I couldn't go 100 on my friend's sport-bike... everyone has a different riding style and position. Now I will fully agree on gear... it drives me crazy to see guys riding around in shorts, t-shirt, flip-flops and no helmet... and they give me crazy looks for wearing full pants, boots, and jacket even when its near 100F (even when i am better off then them).
@DJCipster4BREAKS I'm sure I'll offend someone. I actually debated about posting this video for a while. I was trying to get the message across that I wasn't bashing harleys or cruisers in general, but it kind of came out sounding like that. I was really just wondering why almost every single bike we saw that weekend was a cruiser.
"Stunning EPIC footage!" ;) That was a great route down to Sedona. I'd so love to ride it again!
We saw sooo many Harleys on that trip. It really got old. I was shocked that we were pretty much the only sportbikes out there. I dont get the whole Harley thing either. I'm not a Harley hater but I dont understand why people spend obnoxious amounts of money on them.
This whole no gear thing here in AZ completely freaks me out.
@davidhowellca That's what I was commenting on. I don't care what someone rides, or what they wear while riding it. I'm just amazed at the ratio of cruisers to other bikes in AZ. Yeah, the scenery through there is stunning.
@Kodiak31415 I don't know if you guys have rode one before, but they can be incredibly comfortable to ride and still be fun and fast and handle well. Yes, you can sink a ridiculous amount of money into them and that's part of the fun for some - me included. I've always been a fan of sport luxury cars, like a Caddy CTS-V. That's how I have my bike set up. I did spend a lot, but my road king is fast and handles tight - all the while felling like a comfortable easy chair.
@ziggy149 Don't confuse comfort for being numb. Arms out straight lose blood circulation, ape hangars are worse, vibration puts your hands and ass to sleep, loud pipes and engine fatigue your mind long distance, poor brakes, tire compounds, excess weight, it's far from a touring bike with full windshield / fairing, heated grips, better riding posture, quiet and smooth engine, half the money. This is just a bar bike for show.
Hey K3 - Sounds to me like you ought to check out "maikeli7." I'd recommend the "Harley Haters" series. In those vids he answers every one of your questions & fully explains why he chooses to ride a hog + he does it motovlogger style too ;-)
Personally, I think if you watch any one of his vids, you'll begin to understand why people ride Harleys :-)
@boobtubeviewr I'll check them out. I don't "hate" harley's or their riders. I'm just confused as to why they are so insanley popular compared to other types of bikes. If we had gone all weekend seeing nothing but sportbikes I would probably have made a video about that.
Tried out a few cruisers and it seemed like I was driving half a car, not the bike if you are looking for agility. Everyone is entitled to their chosen ride, many Harleys around here go from one bar to another to home. Dealers seem to be pushing cruisers lately, perhaps there's a bigger margin for them.
@Moosepiesandwich I think the margin is bigger, especially on Harleys. Also, cruiser riders tend to be older, and older people tend to have more excess income to spend. I bet HD makes a TON of money on Harley branded gear.
Many folks buy their $20k HD to get through their mid-life crisis or to hang out with friends that have HD's and look menacing. They ride a few hundred miles a year and sell it when they realize they don't like to ride. Those are the ones that suck. Then there are the ones that love to ride, and those guys are freakin cool and mesh great with anyone on 2 wheels. I have ridden cruisers, and prefer sport and sport touring bikes since you can have more fun.
beside the fact that the Harley is uncomfortable. have you looked at any of their price tags. for the price that we pay for most any normal bike you might be able to afford a Childrens Harley tricycle... I have ridden the Yamaha and Kawasaki Cruisers and they are very plush and comfortable like a lazy bot recliner.
@kary1982v6 They're comfortable enough for a short period of time, and they can actually be fun to ride in for a short period of time. What I don't understand is why almost every single bike we saw that first day was a cruiser.
@kary1982v6 I mostly believe that there are a lot of people that follow the crowd with the assumption that they think that it is cool rather than finding them selves and a bike that fits them not the crowd... Cruisers are just the "common" thing
@kary1982v6 Yeah. When I tell people I ride a motorcycle the first thing they automatically assume it's a cruise just because that's what people always ride around here.
@Kodiak31415 Hehe! I've had people do that to me too. I'm not in it for a popularity contest like some people. If people don't like watching my stuff they should unsub.
Unsubbing over something so trivial is a bit childish though. You didn't really bash cruisers. You just said you didn't see how they could ride them long distances. Oh well. I like your stuff and I'll keep watching.
A lot of the Harley riders trailer their bikes. Then they ride them down a few scenic roads and then load them back on the trailer and drive back home.
@Kodiak31415 Yeah but he was coming from across the country. I've seen people trailer their Harley's less than 100 miles just to ride around the mountains a bit and trailer them home.
people ride what they want to ride, right? You don't ride what you don't want to ride. At least I hope that's how people operate...

i am a recent convert from harley to sport bike and i love it. Comfort on a cruiser is depending on your seat, handlebars, and foot position.
But i love the increased control and performance of a sport bike.
But chicks DIG harleys. So everyone should experience both if you can.

Question, what you using for your video and audio? Amazed at the clarity of your commentary. So little wind noise.
I too don't understand the whole Harley-Davidson lifestyle. But as long as they are riding and enjoying, that's all that matters.
