I am hetro, and started having sexual feelings at the age of 12, like most boys. My sexual fantasies were of older women, i.e. movie actresses, Playboy pin-ups, and so forth. Wasn't interested in girls my age, nor they in me.

So I would surmise the same is for gays. Gay men start out as gay young boys, and I bet their fantasies are about men, not other boys their own age.

@Baptiste161I can only speak for my self but I came to realise I was gay when I got to about 10 and noticed that I had that warm glow feeling about some lads in my school it took me some time to realise that I was attracted to them, not really in a sexual way more like I was just fascinated by them. now at the age of 44 I can remember most of the boys that where in my infant school class but only two of the girls, so that tells me even at a very young age I was just not interested in girls

The most beautiful thing in that movie that all the relationship between the boy and the soldier seems very natural. Both actors are just amazing, specially the kid who's offer us a great performance. A difficult theme tackled with a lot of emotions ! I really like it.

1) Funny how some people say this is "true love" and therefore not pedophilia. Pedophilia is a sexual orientation and like all people, different pedophiles respond differently to their feelings. Some remain celibate and avoid children. But, true love means that you put the interest of the other person first. If you have aids, and you love your wife, you will resist your desire to have sex with her. In the same way, this man should've resisted his sexual urges, and place the best interest of the boy first.

The trouble is, people only read about pedophiles who selfishly surrendered to their sexual desires, but people need to know not all pedophiles are like that. I might not be able to control the way I feel towards boys, but I can control the way I act towards them. I truly love children, and therefore put their best interest before my own sexual desires. I would never do that to them, and I hate to be like this.

At the moment the only people talking about this is the press and they seem to be hell bent on demonising these people and that just makes these people bottle up there feelings and never ask for help, we need to have a more adult approach to this

@tingod99 Thank you for your understanding. However, I do see Sexual preferences other than heterosexuality as abnormal. The moment we accept it as normal, we will stop looking for a cure. If there was any possibility, I would jump to have a normal sexuality, fall in love with a woman, get married and have children. That is the main reason why I talk to people about this: Accepting pedophilia for what it is: a sexual orientation, hopefully brings us one step closer to one day finding a cure.

This movie was very touching, and like it or not, very to the point. Most of us gay or straight, first have our experiences when we're between 13 and 17 years old. I may have overlooked it, but I don't think they stated how old the child was in this film, even so, this child was interested in men, before the soldier came about. Not that I endorse pedophilia, but love holds no age. The child fell for the soldier far before the gifts and the attention. Just saying

I loved the film, it impacted me deeply and now I cannot take the images out of my head. I believe in love, in romance, and I believe that love has no age or gender. They became lovers, but soldier had abandoned him, because he and his company had been transferred into another country. The boy have been trying to find him for his whole life and finally on day, when he was close to 40, his friend zoomed the only one photo that he had with his loved one where there was his name on the pendant and he can finally find his "lost soldier".
