  • It's all about doing things correctly.. I've made a few mistakes using the sandpaper but it was on a junk cue that I practiced with. Now I am confident to do it on anything and have retipped my performance shafts and high end cues many times. I much prefer to tip cues myself, I'm quite particular and prefer to save the money. Also, for items such as the rapid sander there is a simple fix of wrapping material like extra felt to prevent damage. Just be smart and slow with anything new.

  • what about johnson's baby powder? lol. but actual question: what difference does it make using a tip tool vs. using sand paper? personally I found sand paper gentler on the tip. never liked a tip pick.

  • Great videos! Very very helpful.

  • Another crap product is Porpers Mushroom removal tool (Other model to what you have in the vid) is that you must hold it hard at an angle and use a sawing motion per the directions,,, stupidly I thought they researched their own product and wouldn't sell junk and followed the directions to a T, before noticing the HUGE dent rings it put in my shaft, just past the ferrel on my Z2 shaft :( I had a pro at a tournament I just played in lathe it for me .50 mm and it is an ok fix, but beware :)

  • Good stuff, thanks for the vid :)

  • hey man do you play international pool?

    do u play snooker?

  • I know how and have played snooker. I am not that great at snooker, but I have played it and have a d board for my own table and play from time to time, it is easier to play with standard pockets and not the rounded edge pockets. I have played 3 cushion, I like the game, just not enough people play to stay involved.

  • What tips do you use?

  • I personally prefer moori tips. Try a few out at the pool hall on test cues and see which one you like, then buy.

  • Thanks

  • Do NOT use a razor to shave, it WILL cut your face!

    Only if used improperly!

I use some of the products you strongly disadvise and never had any problems with them.

  • Most of the people viewing these videos will be beginners....therefore should not use the products. I do use the shaver on occasion. You are right, use them properly. Practice on old crappy cues and the junk that comes with a table. As you become more experienced, then try it on your own cue. The Porper Shaper/Shaver tool should be discontinued. It destroys tips and ferrules...along with the Tweeten Sander, they do more harm than good. Use the Willard machine for the best results.

  • I agree.

  • great advice

but i noticed that most of the shaft conditioning products you talk about are for wood shafts.

i'm more of a fan of carbon fiber shafts, mainly because im scared to death of a cue warping on me. i live in the central valley in cali. and it can get pretty hot here and, at time i forget my cue in the car

  • Please, never leave your cue in an enviroment that is not temperature or humidity controlled. There are seveal companies that make cue conditioning products for the fiberglass and carbon fiber cues. CueTec seems to have the market cornered on them.

  • oops i mean fiber glass shaft

  • Good advice.

  • Just joined a league for fun with moderate experience... This video of yours alone saved me $ and headaches. Thanks for helping out the Neewbies.

  • Thank you, I am trying to give out the info so that no one else falls victim to the same things I did years ago.
