  • well I thought you did a fabulous job!

  • I really enjoyed that, well done.

  • And now sing it with feeling instead of learning the cords and singing the lyrics as if you don't know what you are singing. TIP: think of every word and sentence you are singing and let it come from your heard. - try looking at Jacques Brel to see what I mean..... btw - I thought it was a Scottish song. Thanks to 'Destiny4511' for the excellent history of the origin.

  • nice set of golden singing pipes!

  • @kashir1 he looks korean. big fukin difference. they arent evil. good song. glad other people enjoy it.

  • I think you are awesome, great job!!

  • There are a lot of songs you do well. There are a lot of songs you don't do well. Danny Boy is a song you should NEVER cover unless its done traditionally. The guitar was nice but it would have sounded much better and less rushed if you slowed it down and played the chords as arpeggios. But what really ruined it was your voice. The rough, nasally nature completely too the beauty out of the song. Danny Boy is a beautiful song that should ALWAYS be done the right way, never in another genre.

  • Danny boy isent an irish lol

  • wow... i didn't know "Danny Boy" would be so beautiful in acoustic version...

  • can someone send me the chord progression to this song

  • you go David!!! <3

  • great job!

  • Well done!

  • why are you singing "danny boy"?????

  • every year I think of you david. This might be your best rendition of a classic

  • Thank you, David.

    God bless you.

  • you are asian.

  • i'm with mick

  • nice job!

  • i really like this :)

  • nice mate

  • Hey David,

Do you mind if I use this cover for a slide show that I am doing with my Daughter?

    Thanks

    Dave R

  • nice, ... like the changes

  • What , is wrong , with the people who, gave this person a bad review ???? .. He tried & did his best !!! But much more , he obviously liked the song enough to play & sing it !!! All of us of Irish & Gaelic Ancestory , should be proud & happy that , this young fellow , performed & sang one of the songs we all love so much !!!

  • dont like it, sounds like a boy band version, no offence, great work but perhaps for such an old song maybe not lol how about Irish rover or Fiesta haha

  • What the fuck does his ethnicity matter? I'm from Irish descent, and I think he did a pretty damn good job. It's not traditional-style, but the kids got a hell of a voice.

    Keep on rockin' man.

    Eirinn go brach.

  • ha i was just joking

  • Of course. I'm a European. Some are Canadian or English. Some of my folks came from Scandinavia. Some from the Isles. I know you came from somewhere too. ;-) We are all near and dear to The Lord.

    Thanx again, David

    & you too Mick ! ;-)

  • yeah ireland why are giving me this bullshit speech i said it was a joke? shutup

  • i hear ya man it makes no sense

  • nice voice, good guitar also

  • lol reminds me of the skittles commercial

  • wow that was great. :)

  • Excellent version and your voice is beautiful. Thanks for sharing

  • Great job of covering Danny Boy!

  • Yeah, good voice. If you're trying for American Idol. I didn't like it. Sorry.

  • very good i liked it a lot. a bit of constructive criticism though if i may, try singing like you yawn. right now you are singing closed throat, which isn't necessarily bad but if you try opening your throat than you can get a more whole tone that can make songs even more beautiful. once you find that, if you havnt already, you can choose which way to sing based on the song and its style.

  • Nice cover! And Im Irish good voice

  • It's good and you know it! When you're good, people will try to pull you down to their level.

  • your singing true your nose

  • @berrier123 : Singin through his nose? more like through his arsehole lol oh Danny bouchaíll

  • there are lots of versions of this song man but i really think everyone should type declan galbraith oh danny boy. he knocks this out, its from when he was 8

  • he sings it soooo good

  • dude i know lol

  • nicely done, if the girls in my chorus class could sing like that we would have done better. that was how that song was supposed to be sung. Well done!...why aren't you a famous singer already?...just curious.

  • I think you did great. Put your own twist on a great song. Nothing wrong with that.

  • David Choi is in LA for charity performance

Dec 22, 2009 7:30 PM 680 wilshire pl, Los Angeles, CA

    Free event!!!

  • Thought we're here to listen and view the singer. What's all these nonsense arguements for. ahahah

  • Of course if a song written by an Englishman means something for the Irish it can be Irish. It can also be chinese if it means something for the chinese. Music in reality is universal and knows no borders.

  • david is my favorite-been subscribed for years-this is one of my favorite songs-Im irish-he translates songs like no other

  • its irish u twit!!! its an irish anthem! it means something to irish and northern irish people. amazing cover great artist 5*

  • holy shit your amazing!!!!!

  • sorry but is not english its northern irish

  • hey buddy it is an irish song. it may also called londonderry air. londonderry is in ireland you may know it as county derry. it was telling a story of a father whose son had joined the IRA and was terrified for his son because he himself had survived the torture of the english government.

  • "Danny Boy" was written by the English (and obviously not Irish) lawyer and lyricist Frederick Weatherly in 1910 (ref wikipedia). IRA exists since 1913. Therefore you are WRONG

  • the Irish Republican Brotherhood was set up in 1858. The IRA wer not the only organisation dedicated to a free Irish government. Therefore YOU ARE WRONG

  • "Danny Boy" was written by the English lawyer and lyricist Frederick Weatherly in 1910. Therefore it is not irish. I am neither english nor irish and the fact that the IR Brotherhood was founded in 1858 has nothing to do with the fact that the poem was written by an English.

  • you brought up the fact that the song could not have been written about someone joining the IRA so i am suggesting it could have been written about someone joining the IRB.

    TAL

  • I brought up the fact that the poem was not written by an irish and therefore it could not have been written for the IRA , IRB IRC etc. You seem to be missing the point.

  • True but he could be talking about the IRB but he's just a bit too thick to get the facts right

  • "son had joined the IRA"

I don't know who filled you with that hot air, but the lyrics to "Danny Boy" were written by an English lawyer in 1912, and who never set foot in Ireland in his entire life. Danny Boy is an English song, not Irish.

The MELODY was written by a blind Irish harper, Rory Dall O'Cahan, (Ruaidhri Dall O'Cahthain) in 1603, called "Cahan's Lament".

  • @Destiny4511 Not that I don't believe you, but.. Do you have any links to prove that statement?

  • its time to record! its easy! just contact the music pros they will correct any defects in sound and you will be on your way. go for it while you are young.

  • hey mr singer r u irish?

  • it's an iRISH song and it's awsome..

  • It's all about music people. Music is the universal language that we ALL share. You don't have to know the language or what country it's from. People all over the world can respond to music and feel the emotions in every song. It's all about the music.

  • tooo fast but great timbre and good intination between your voice and guitar

  • great cover, the tender head voice tones are really nice!

  • dude .... best singer!! Rock on!

  • Whats funny about this video? I don't get it.

  • Absolutely Beautiful. My Grandfather wanted me to learn this song (he passed away) and I was wondering If you could send me the chords you used? Greatly Appreciated. --Courtney

  • That has to be the worst thing about Youtube.Reading comments from buffoons representing your country. Please believe me when I say the vast majority of us Irish are more educated and civilised.

  • I know what you mean man. Being an American, you can imagine how many stupid comments I read daily.

  • *coming

  • I keep coming back to listen to this....really beautiful cover

  • 40% of americans are from irish decent tho, so for those americans you are refering too as ' thinking they are irish'...are in a matter of fact Irish.... american irish in fact....and fair play to them for hanging on to their roots.

  • i see where you are comeing from but its just annoying for 100% irish like me, but you have a good point.

still doesnt change my view but.

  • i fuckin hate the way sum americans think jst cus there fuckin grandpa was irish makes them irish, or when people are like i am 1/4 irish!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats funny darling I came off a boat with my father and grandfather. You can kiss my green ass

  • well in that case if ur born in Ireland and then move america thats fine but anyother way you can go fuk urself

  • good job :)

  • this is really good:+)

  • its not a pop song.leave it to the irish.

  • Yes , I ask me , why aren't you on my Tv screen . I wish in a few Month's I can buy a single of you . Good luck

  • have you watched the version of Declan singing Danny Boy? you'll be amazed..

btw david ur version are good too though.

  • Nice voice! Show a little emotion though...

  • This song is not Irish, this song is probably the furthest from being Irish after the British National Anthem!!!!!!

  • wat u talking about u stupid cunt. it is an irish song and we got fuck all 2 do with england. go back 2 school. u fool.

  • This song is about the "pipes" calling "danny" to come and fight for the brits...wtf is irish about that apart from a little traitor cunt going to fight with that shower of cunts!!!!???

  • @uknowwhatimeanlike The song is about an Irish boy being forced to go off and fight for the Brits, you're right. And thats what makes the song so sad.

  • My neighbor singing Danny Boy check it, see if you like it ,search usagold101, man nicely done

  • nicely done man nicely done

  • Wow, that was great!

  • irish guy here, Gotta say Danny boy is far more an Irish-American song than an Irish song. In Ireland its a song associated with the diaspora caused by the famine harking to the homeland of there ancestors. That all said that was a really good cover, well done sir. Now try Joxer went to Stuttgart.

  • i think its kinda funny, how they had the potato famine, so there kind of starving and dieing, when there surrounded by water with fish =D!

  • the famin was not funny. wat wud u no. people dying. u stupid fool. shut the fuck up.

  • hey i took history buddy, they have a potato famine, there surrounded by watter, there dying from starvation, theres other things to eat than potatos, serisouly, if i was in that time, i would have started fishing, fuck the potatos dumb ass

  • irish singers singing this song have more of an effect on me than this guy

  • Jonass Brothers gone Irish/Asian... killed it.

  • i'm irish and frankly you ruined it. This is a great song but it doesn't need a boy band twist to it!

  • BOOOOOOO you are an awful singing

  • Great Video, fantastic song :)

TheIrishZionist: And you have awful "Englishings"

  • may i just say, you arent even playing the tune to danny boy, i know because this is a song that is very close to my heart and i play it myself

  • you smoke a spliff ?

  • The song Danny Boy was written by and Englishman.

  • great voice :)

  • its always going to be ours no matter what as it belongs in our hearts not the england after all the countrie is called ireland ;) so fuck of

  • god bless the ira and all the irish men that got killed winning us our independece. Dont undertand what we mean? watch michaels collins and the wind that shakes the barley. I still dont know why we cant have our whole countrie back its unfair as it was always and and no matter what it always will be at heart. and in the Hearts of those who died. Great Great Great ansestors.

  • Pity about terrorists still posing as the IRA.

The old IRA were patriots and martyrs.

  • Proud to be irish always and forever. Love my irish History Because it Means so much to us as the American history does to the americans. slán leat

  • this wonderful voice gives me the shivers... wow..

  • Godbless the I.R.A.

  • When I am listening this song I have tears in my eyes..

  • irelands da shit so britian take a big sniff

  • This is the funniest shit (pun intended) I've heard in a good while.

  • Godbless the I.R.A

  • God bless the IRA and show us your might through them and send the british back to their land and give the irish theirs back, Amen, and if you ask upon his name it shall be granted...maybe not now, or tomorrow, but one day, and what a glorious day that will be

  • Music would be fairly boring if all covers were done exactly as the original.I like this version.Well done

  • I like your way of dealing with the high notes of this song - haha good job =]

  • it's a beautiful song and you've played it well, thanks ;)

  • WOW!!!!! nicely done! *applause*

  • idk y ppl think this is an Irish song, it was made by a Englishman who never even stepped foot in Ireland

  • It's because while the lyrics were written by an Englishmen, it's set to the music of a traditional Irish song.

  • Beautiful ! Slainte

  • Nice. Proud to be Irish.

  • well done lad! impressed

  • septic.

  • Hmmmmm well i think its allrite version ya did,BUT if your gona do an irish ballad do it the irish way :) it just sounds a hell of alot better that way thats all im sayin.but good job anyway

  • WTF ! didn't know Danny Boy was popular in Hong Kong ! lmao

  • well done lad!

  • good singer

  • Nice voice dude. Congrats for the fine cover.

  • I love this song... and you are ruining it. Learn some proper technique and don't falsetto. You lack all the appropriate emotion for this song. Rhythm and pitch are off. You don't fuck with folk songs... Especially Irish ones.

    .......no respect

  • when you sober up...listen again!!! I have near-perfect pitch, and i like his falsetto...oh yeah, i forgot irishmen don't sober up- sorry

  • i think his voice is a-ma-zing!! :D

    me like

  • Don't sing it like it your Rod Stewart, sing it like you are Domingo, or Pavarotti.

  • I don't think he owns Rod Stewart...

  • sounds as much folk as it is r and b, but so much soul as well

  • you could woo all the ladies with this one. COME TO NEW ZEALAND AND GET SOME PUSS!

  • argg ... I try to judge on the song not on him, but really dude start singing RnB(itch) songs and dont try this ever again.

Its a man song and nothing else it supposed to be with drums and stuf and march into a big field an maybe die within a couple of minutes, not like this.

Im not insulting anybody you sang a song and didnt fuck up with strange notes. But its not the way, It felt like guys in tutu's ran up to a field.

    Bah

  • what the fuck you talking about? a version of danny boy doesnt even sound right with drums. Bugger off prick

  • U suck get this guy Outa here Dont maikeen aythath! (in english Don't assult irish)He's the best at being worst.I like the origanal Version.

  • this is the only version i like tehe. its good i like it

  • great job, I love the way you sang this song. love it.

  • good job... you are talented and im half irish and believe you did good

  • i come from a traverling family and ive never heard a vioce like yours you mad me have gouse dumps so well done mate keep going

  • very nice!I love your singing.

  • good voice

  • thats reely good, with emotion

  • great drinking song. and great cover

  • dannyboy is not a irish song look it up

  • True but it will forever be known as an Irish song

  • who the fuck cares

  • Well, obviously you do..

.. or you wouldn't have posted a comment.

  • "dannyboy is not a irish song look it up"

Danny Boy is a set of English lyrics set to an Irish melody. Google "Cahan's Lament", later called "Lononderry Aire".

  • Good job dude, i liked it.. And yes i am Irish
