@Triforce611 They're basically the building blocks of...everything, in TotA. Matter, magic, the works. They're magical in nature, apparently, which is what I'd attribute the glowing to.

They're basically the magic version of atoms, I guess you could say. It's explained much better in the game. I think the anime touches on it, of course, but not as in-depth.

I think no, they are different stories and worlds.

@atri3090 Not at all. All the Tales of games are completely unconnected, with the sole exception of Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphonia. The only things that link them are a few names and places that get reused, and cameo battles. There's no story connection, except for the aforementioned two.
