I'm curious. What did the setlist look like? And is that David Lamoureux on the piano? Were there any other band members (like Bret Hendry on pedal steel) providing any more accompaniment?
@HDAY04 He played this new song as well as Boston of course, Sweet and Low and a bunch of songs from the new album. They played for an hour and yes it was David on keys. It was a great show and Dan even took my EP :) Such a great guy and amazing musician! So happy that he didn't give up, hope he never ever does, WAY too much talent there to go to waste.
@AugustanaCovers I just bought tickets yesterday for a show of theirs next year; I really loved the Augustana band before, but Dan Layus has such a mature sound when he's stripped down like this. It's electric (pun intended). I've only been able to catch Augustana play once, and when I did, it was with Counting Crows, and he appeared wasted; maybe the pressure of the band was getting to him. Did he seem happier and more together at this show? I hope this is only the beginning of the best for Dan
@HDAY04 Yeah, I think he is obviously having a hard time with all of the changes that have happened - who wouldn't?, but I've been lucky enough to meet and talk to him twice this year at two different shows, he is a very nice guy. I think things were quite a bit different during the tour when you saw him. The three shows I've gotten to go to this year were amazing, the first two were with the band and this last one was just him and David, he is an amazing performer no matter what. Have fun!!
@AugustanaCovers I hope it's just him & David when I see him in February, but he could have assembled a full band by then, & I do hope he hangs around to meet his fans too since apparently he'll be playing smaller venues on this tour; maybe he'll be able to do that. I've been a listener of Augustana for a while now, but I've only seen him that one time, & it wasn't a good show, but I've heard enough live performances on Youtube to know that isn't the norm. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
This new song makes me so happy considering what Dan has gone through these last few months. He is just so talented and I can't wait to see him in Chicago this January!!! We're driving 8 hours to get there. I'd travel to the ends of the Earth to see him.
Thank you Justin and Lisa for sharing! Good sound quality and picture. It is comforting to know that Dan is moving on with Augustana. Acoustical guitar and piano is perfect for Dan (except I will miss the talented Chris Sachtleben on the mandolin). This performance reminds me a little of Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional stage without all the drums, bass, etc.. With Dan's talent this will sell tickets...wish he would schedule Florida on this upcoming tour.
thumbs up if you can't wait till 2014

@HDAY04 I'm not sure of the setlist as I unfortunately was not there. But that does look like David Lamoureux on keys.
