@MatchstalkMan Hi thanks for liking my accent. I actually hate it myself :) I think it sounds like German accents to British ears. Although Dutch isn't as 'loud' or 'sharp' as German it has some resemblances. In my video I was trying to show that the thin client doesn't make any sound but outside my window is a Bus resting place (endpoint) and so busses drive away quite frequent there. So the Busses I meant was public transport LOL

@maicod I have German friends and their accents are quite harsh. There's a softness to the Dutch accent, especially pronouncing the letter 'S'. Sean Connery also has this quality in his voice.

I knew that you meant public transport - it was just a computer nerd joke related to the video content.

Seriously though, CF cards are super fast when reading, even faster than hard drives for random reads. However, you sometimes get hiccups when you try to write. (And many programs do a lot of small writes.)

XP will wearout the CF card in about a month of running as those cards have a limit on number of writes and XP does a lot or writing of swap files and such, you have been warned

thanks :) had dit computertje voor 25 euro op hcc meegenomen (ik denk dat ze op hotel balies zijn gebruikt). de cpu (een VIA) is echter te traag om hem echt als pc te gebruiken. wel leuk om mee te spelen :)

depends on how strong its cpu is. there's a lot of different kinds of thin clients so I can't tell you if a laptops harddis will fit. I'm currently doing nothing with thin clients anymore so I'm not a good help sorry.

if you really want to go "lite" you should get hiren's boot disk. it's a live version of xp, totally customizable, full of useful programs and just under 40mb of space.

leaving ALOT of space left for other programs.

heb er ondertussen ook eentje op de kop getikt op ebay :D handig kerel! 11 watt verbruik, en heb er een tv kaartje ingestoken om op te nemen vanaf tv:) (heb er een volledige windows xp opgezet en dat ding draait prima!)

is het mogelijk om van elke thin client een werkelijke computer te maken? Bijvoorbeeld door een CF kaart of een USB-bootable versie van windows?

nouja in principe is een thin client een lichte computer zonder cd-drive etc en zit ook vaak in een heel klein kastje (nog veel kleiner dan deze oude die ik heb) en ze zijn vooral bedoeld als terminal dus dat je windows erop opstart en dan met programma's als VNC verbinding maakt met een andere computer die je dan bedient, maar je kan er toch ook wel gewoon op computeren zoals je kunt zien in mijn filmpje. je kan hem dus gewoon van een SSD booten en dan websites bekijken of muziek afspelen.

een cf kaart, kan direct worden aangestuurt als harde schijf, :) (hoe lang hij het uithoudt is een andere vraag! :p) maar inderdaad een thin client kan perfect functioneren als gewone pc! (afhankelijk van de uitvoering vind je op het moederbord nog een extra pci slot en een ide aansluiting voor de harde schijf

ja een simpele lichte computer zonder ruimte voor een cd-drive etc. vandaar het woord THIN (dun/klein) en met client willen ze zeggen dat ze vaak op universiteiten ofzo gebruikt worden om in te loggen op een grote moedercomputer of voor simpel te internetten ofzo
