Hello Tashi Norbu.Yes your thinking is very good. We should understand that before.. he didnt say its a tibetan music and I also agree with your mind. I wondered when I saw the title. Makes me also happy! Thanks for your opinion!
Sakamoto is not saying this is a tibetan folk song.
he's trying to capture attitude of tibetans who are appreciative of life and everything they have.nice to know such an awesome composer has a song with title "tibetan dance". makes me happy.
and besides, this song sounds fun and captures tibetan dancy cheery mood very nicely, wouldn't you two agree?
Like much of Sakamoto's music, this song is a fusion of Tibetan music with other traditions, such as Okinawan music (i.e. those female singers are Okinawan folk musicians). The titles for some of his songs are partially misnomers as they only represent one part of the song. For example, his 1989 song "Calling From Tokyo" sounds more like a fusion of Okinawan, African, Indian and Arabic music rather than Tokyo music.
I am a Tibetan but I haven't heard this kind of Tibetan music whole my life. I think the singer got it wrong with something else. So, dear listeners, this is not at all a Tibetan song or dance. Peace out..

I've heard Ryuichi Sakamoto quite a bit it comes to the West's appreciation of Japanese music, but this performance is THE one that really hits it for me! Lots of slap bass, awesome singing and great rhythm makes this performance awesome!! I was convinced Sakamoto-san only did high-brow electropop but this is awesome!! T-Square fans should love this ^__^
@ vampirkill, was hast denn du für ein Problem, du geistiger Flatliner ?! Es heißt übrigens; der Witz, du Pfeife.

You buy Sakamoto's compilation Moto.Tronic - the track is on the bonus-dvd. Search B0000SWNKC on amazon.
It IS an awesome version. The girls are cute, and I love the way Sakamoto gives cues to the band.
