Dhalsim is so different from any other Street Fighter character. You sit there, and even though you know exactly what to do and when to do it, it is so goddamn stressful. Unlike a Ryu where you can get by on one or two tactics, you have to actively use every tool Dhalsim has to win...
@JJyuza I think it's the other way around. Poongko has no footsies. He couldn't even deal with Daigo's in terms of this event. He's straight rushdown/mixup.
@ISniffDirtyPanties actually, if you've ever seen Iyo, he is a good looking guy and most likely can pull chicks with no effort. And of course, he is the smartest Sim player we have ever seen
poongko has an interesting style that is quite his own. almost like a machine. of course, clockwork is easy to figure out for someone like Iyo, the man is a fucking monster in his own right.
@gummyboots hahahahaha he's cheap because he *grabs too much* lol you're a fag...dude grabs are part of da game. They are pretty nice and they are not broken.Live with it or get the fuck out.
@TheDonaldduck911 If you aren't mature enough to give me a good response, maybe YOU need to leave. Oh let me type it in a way even YOU can understand
Man shut the fuck up you stupid fag maybe they dont need to be grabbin so much dude, i mean all that ain't even necessary or nuthin. Man you aren't even polite enough to respect others opinions before you go off on them like some annoying 12 year old that waste there whole day on the computer. you got anymore Bullshit to throw at me?
There is no respect in fighting games, they were playing in a tournament, Playing to win. You have just as much ability to tech a throw as the opponent does to attempt one. It is a skill that needs to be learned and it takes reading to see the throw coming. Unfortunately, noobs like you just think they are the best naturally and need not practice simple things like Getting out of frame traps or tick throws.... you know... because.... that takes work and a brain and practice.
lol @ Ryu. hurrr just mindlessly jab, throw a few focus attacks for additional blockstun, try to tick throw, hope the opponent gets caught in an EX tatsu so he can land the braindead ultra. Repeat. Beginner's character all the day. Iyo will always be the man.
i alway tell people lyo knows every trick in the book.. so u batter ply smart not like that ryu always charging/ the japen saget would of kill that ryu,...
You always have to rush down Dhalsim so he has no room to zone with his long ass limbs.. and besides, it's Poongkos play style. It's like telling a bboy that his style is stupid or something... that is what your comment was saying to me...
lol I still can't seem to do it. are you sure that's how he does it? before pressing ppp he's holding down jump and forward so before he lands behind his opponent he can high punch. it's shit easy to do it after a jump but straight off the ground I can't see to do it your way
how does iyo tele and high punch while stil in air before he hits the ground after a teleport? when I tele I can't high punch. does he jump and quickly tele? thanks in advance :)
that ryu is very aggressive. i like that, compared to those boring waiting defensive fighter..thats my opinion..i know its too risky but you can see good combos from those aggressive fighters.
true, but combo's aren't the end all of fighting games, more important is looking for the oppertunity to land your combo's safely without being punished. By mind games, Mix ups and Hit confirming you can gaurantee that you will land your combo and not be blocked and take big punish damage
Wow, exciting. I remember when I was in the second round of the gamestop tourney, there were OOOHs and AAAAAHs every match. Especially this one vega vs. vega match, it was intense. Unfortunately I lost, but it was still extremely fun, I can't wait for the next tourney.
Every match is the same. Poongko chases after Iyo like a madman with the hopes of getting in. By time time he finally gets Iyo cornered, he either applies enough offensive pressure to take him out, or more commonly, he's lost so much health during the chase that he's already lost it.
Poongko has solid tactics, but he didn't realize that the chase is exactly what a Dhalsim player wants you to go through.
That's very likely. However, the "absolute rushdown" style he was using back then isn't appropriate for all opponents. I was pointing out what he did wrong, but I was in no way challenging his abilities.
@jetsyrup Nevertheless, I respect Poongko way more than Daigo.Fireball spamming, abusing with numerous stopping attacks like shoryukens is what any n00b does, Daigo is just a tad better. It takes great courage & skillZ to play rush down, with chess-like strategy that fast, it takes lighting fast reflexes and mind, and it also means you respect your opponent by not turtling.Although most prefere the ugliest, most faggot victory over an epic fight, hardcore fans choose the latter.Sorry, copycats.
@FIxt00l This is a month old... But I feel the need to comment. I hope that you have picked up the game within this timeframe to rethink things about "fireball spam" and "abusing numerous stopping attacks like shoryukens". Anyone can spam a SRK, but it takes skill to place them correctly. It also takes great skill to trick people into doing things to bait them into those SRK's. Air and Daigo, pre AE are the best Ryu's i've seen. Skills to pay the bills. Man up and stop being a bitch over tactic.
and to know that Poongko would go on to perfect Daigo a couple of years later...

You do the teleport motion, but continue to up+forward before you press ppp, that way you'll teleport very quickly after leaving the ground.
