The Intervention is chambered in .375 or .408, and if you actually thought about it for half a second any of these rounds would obliterate your animal, making it into hamburger.

It really depends when you say "killing innocent animals" There could be no predators in the area and the deer are growing rapidly, to keep control of numbers, many have to be shots. It's just to balance out nature.

Most hunters are not long range hunters. Most hunters have real problems with 300yd shots. 400 is not all that long of a shot. Shooting deer with iron sights will be hard at that range. With a scope and some skills 400 is easy.

@1002...Actually, the average sniper shot is more like 400-700 yards, sometimes even closer than 400. The "sniper" will get as close as he safely feels he can to make a sure kill shot. Rarely do they seek out shots over those distances. If 400 yards is such an easy shot, take at random 5 hunters, set up some targets and see what kind of groups you get at that range. Im guessing you wont be running your mouth and making a fool of yourself afterwards !!!

agreed very rarely will a sniper attempt a shot at 800 yds or more unless they absolutely have no choice depending in the circumstances as well if u are a combat sniper sure why if u miss just shoot at the next guy but if its a targeted killing of high importance and missing is not an option they will move as close as safely possible

He was mule deer hunting and it was 460 yards IIRC. That's Kyle Randall and he has a hunting show (Wilderness Journal) here in Michigan. He was somewhere out in Montana. It was a decent shot, but I've seen longer ones. Kyle usually hunts with a bow (and sometimes on deer ranches, which I find stupid and a was of a show).
