  • Where is Nigel? You serious? He's at home, keeping Jamie Lee Curtis warm, of course . . . .

  • Unfortunately, there are 12 dislikes...it would've been kind of awesome if there were 11. (Face it, people. There will be dislikes. People don't like it - deal with it. There's nothing wrong with that.)

  • Derek Smalls projects strength even in a neck brace!

  • PLAY ALL THE BASSES!!!!

  • Damn good

  • I'm with many others here - who are the 12 that dislike this and why?

  • What's the story behind this? Why Gilmour, where's Nigel?

  • @DeadBunny69 Nigel appeared via satellite prior to the rest of Spinal Tap but his satellite hook up died so David Gilmour took over. David can play fretless bass guitar no problem (something that Roger Hitler (I mean Waters)) could not play.

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster Thanks for the info.

  • Haha, looks like Ian Faith is the other bassist.

  • I was on tour and worked as a roadie for Spinal Tap from 1977-1982 as guitar tunist.

  • RUMMBAHHHHH ! ! !

  • They should've been bumping their asses to the audience -- like in the original vid.

  • Epic !!

  • Three questions... 1) Why is Derek Smalls wearing a neck brace...was that part of the act or was he really injured? 2) Where the hell is Nigel? and 3) Is that Guy Pratt (stranding right next to David) playing the third bass guitar on this track? This video is crazy awesome!

  • @gnoyze Yes, that is is Guy, also playing bass. :) Gary Wallis, Pink Floyd's percussionist during the 80's and 90's played the drums here,

  • @gnoyze Derek Smalls is also playing lead bass. And the neck brace is probably because of whiplash. A common hazard in the heavy metal industry.

  • hahaha, stone henge at the end

  • 11 people are dead Spinal Tap drummers

  • Comment removed

  • Great song, but where are they now?

  • 11 people dont have a big bottom

  • @rockincole ,hahahahhahaha,dislikes actually go to 11

  • I have no idea how he sings this without just laughing all the time. lol

  • ok who are the douche bags that hit dislike on this!?

some people just don't get it

  • @ssgallant There are always going to be fools that choose to be contrary just for the sake of being contrary.

  • I LOVE the neck brace!!! ROFL

  • Derek Smalls with a neck brace :-D

  • THE GREATEST ROCK & ROLL BAND OF ALL TIME!!!!

  • That wasn't David Gilmour

  • @thebandlounge Was.

  • @thebandlounge That was most definitely david gilmour

  • The looser the wasteband... the deeper the quicksand. - lmao

  • Greatest song ever written...greatest performance ever unleashed...

  • You can't dust for vomit.

  • did Derek hurt his neck while he was gardening or something?

  • this is real? :o

  • @95AnnieAnnie95 indeed

  • It's a good thing that Nick Mason didn't tag along with David for this gig.

  • @sicksadworld3000 like LOL dude

  • David Gilmour's bass solo is awesome. hahaha

  • 10 people do not appreciate big behinds

  • david gilmour is an ass man XD

  • lol, the only diff between bass and ass is one letter XD

  • David Gilmour - Lead Bass Guitar

Nigel Tufnel - Lead Bass Guitar

  • @TheD3629 Lmfao

  • @TheD3629 um....pray, show me Nigel in this clip...

  • so uh... where is this from anyway?

  • nice...what a great thing to stumble onto

i've never knew or have seen this before

  • It's OK. Check out Blow Chunks Ballet instead.

  • I didn't know that Gilmour was such an ass man!

  • Needs more bass.

  • I love the fucking neckbrace on the bassist

  • Anybody notice Pino Palladino in the background?

  • @dharmaseed yes!

  • gilmore is playing bass? kool!

  • @dayuhanspace He played half of the basslines you hear on Pink Floyd songs because Roger wasn't interested in recording them.

  • Why is Derek wearing a neck brace?

  • How could I leave this behind? (snerk)

  • Talk about bum cakes, my girl's got'em! So many great lyrics....

  • hahah !! its funny - there's a track on Obscured By Clouds - "The Gold Its In The..." which now always reminds me of "Hell-hole" by Spinal Tap - kinda the same chords , I think, so I imagine they are fans . thanks for posting

  • you have got to be absolutely kidding me. david gilmour! of all people! wow

  • That poor drummer at the end just blew up!

  • This is SO over the top...I cannot stop laughing! Thanks for the post, it put a smile back on my face after a stressful day. It is good to be silly. And with Mr. Gilmour playing on this has me laughing even harder.

  • i wonder if Queen ever heard this song, fat bottomed girls and whilst it completely different its about big arse woman and doin it with them

  • I rated this 11

  • Just shows that its official - David Gilmour is the coolest person on the planet!

  • the man that wrote the comfortaly numb guitar solo on a bass now thats history

  • turn it up to 11

  • How the hell did they get him to play??? awesome!

  • @exualmet

I'd imagine that most great rock musicians would jump at the chance to play with Spinal Tap.

  • there are 9 deeply depressed people among us...

  • who are the 9 dumbfucks that missed the thumbs up button?

  • Where's Nigel? Did that bitch Janine cause another rift between Nigel and David? I see Derek (Mr. Luke Warm Water!) stayed with David. I wish they would get back with Ross MacLochness. Roy Buchanon is known as the greatest guitarist that you/'ve never heard: MacLochNess is the Greatest keyboard player that nobody has ever heard.

  • hmm...one of these things is not like the others...

  • i think the explosion killed the drummer

  • Dave Gilmour has a sense of humor?? I never would have guessed.

  • @tomthefunky I would imagine the band members of Pink Floyd thought the "Stonehenge" concert in the movie was hilarious. Since It was a parody of all those big production concerts Floyd was famous for. Although, I doubt that Gilmour or Waters ever considered using dancing dwarfs in their shows...

  • This is probably the coolest and funniest Spinal Tap song I've seen them play rotflmao!!!

  • Talk about about mud flaps ... my girls got em

  • only basses! cool

  • I thought if they replaced Nigel, it would be with Jeff Beck.

  • @guitarmoe1

I've gotten into many discussions with people on how they came up with Nigel, and there is no way in hell you can convince me that he wasn't based on Jeff Beck.

Watching Jeff Beck getting interviewed is watching Nigel Tufnel.

  • @BobaBaggins

The thing that impresses me the most about Jeff Beck is that he's carrying that 1973 haircut right into the new millennium. That is fucking dedicated!

  • David Gilmour ALLWAYS "Smells The Glove" Before He Gets On Stage, You Know...

    ...

It's Like Rubbing The Rock At "The Apollo Theatre"...

    ...

... WAAAY More "Groupie-Sex"... If You Stay The HELL AWAY FROM NEW YORK CITY...

The Spinal Tap Frontman Is Shocked! He Looks Down At His Beer And Says To The Dead 80's Pop Sensation-" So... You've Come To Haunt Me, I Guess I Had It Coming To Me."

    ..

  • David Gilmour's amp ALWAYS go up to 11 and beyond! He is that great!

What an honor to play with Gilmour!

  • Gilmour's amp goes to the dark side of the moon! :D

  • You mean, what an honour to play with Tap, surely?

  • Yes, how could I get it wrong. Sorry Spinal Tap I'm not worthy!!!

  • @moiphx2 They hate when you call them that (Tap).

  • Was I the only one who noticed two more bassists besides Derek and Dave? Looked like Pino Palladino and Guy Pratt to me. Talk about an all-star band ... almost. 8)

  • gilmour on bass lol

  • excuse me: can anyone tell me where Nigel appears? I can't see him

  • I love those bum cakes, don't you?

  • my 2 favorite guitarists! david gilmour and nigel tufnel! :)

  • I wonder if David Gilmours amp also go to 11

  • @addy93 haha! totally ... but no, i believe he uses hiwatt, point being no marshall = no 11

  • I got my one of my old Fenders fixed by a guy here in Calgary who also used to build amps called MacIntyre ( sp? ). He had a letter on his bulletin board from David Gilmour: "Love the amp - please build me another just like it. Thanks, David." It was a Mesa DC-5 copy 2X12 combo that was better than Mesa.

  • @addy93 you know it

  • Nigel face was cracking me up with that neck brace!

  • @leitchee That wasn't Nigel......that's Derek...........any Spinal Tap fan knows that one ;)

  • @PriestMaidenSiren no worries havent seen film for ages, cheers though

  • @leitchee cheers, no prob :)

  • {{{ZipE is FamilE}}}

  • 2 great legends

  • dedeicated to kat z

  • is that Lenny or Squiggy?

  • Where is he? The camera is zooming around so much I can't make out who's who.

  • Gilmour has the blue shirt. Its so obvious.

  • This is a great vid for people who think musicians like Gilmour take themselves too seriously

  • yeah, that was pretty much the concept of this song that is has no 6-string influence...Dave does a really good Lead on that Bass,it almost sounds like his trademark sound,.must have it through a "Big Muff.Pi"...

  • are there 3 bases?

  • heh...actually 4...Nigel is playing a double-neck bass

  • Derek has a neck brace!

  • GILMOUR!!!!!

  • oh yeah that's right totally .. like the born again album cover is 100% spinal tap ! and the later sabbath is like when people didn't show up for the shows

  • Is that drummer Fat Joe Bessa?

  • pink torpedo.. great name for a band?

  • Maybe not great... but certainly good lol.

  • Crimson Harpoon was a name that Paul Stanley was considering before he and Gene picked KISS. rotflol!

  • This video has to be one of the most awesome things ever.

    'Nuff said.

  • yet another reason why Dave Gilmour is my hero

  • I wish I could click the thumbs up button more than once. I would've.

  • @NumbFlynn refresh and u can

  • @Chicklo11 I can press it, but it'd be meaningless.

  • if you have to replace your drummer after every set.. you're doing the pyrotechnics wrong

  • r they making fun of black sabbath??

  • They're making fun of Sabbath, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Saxon, Rainbow, and a million other late-70s/early 80 power-metal type bands.

  • Basically they keep changing with the times, they never stayed original or true to themselves.

  • Sabbath never really sung about chicks though, except for Evil Woman which never made it to an album..Kiss wrote lyrics like this and they were serious

  • More the history of Sabbath, not the style- like the Stonehenge set from the Born Again tour, or the constant lineup changes.

  • Did Roger Waters give bass lessons to Dave Gilmour?

  • Any guitar player can play Bass if they want to . It's the same tuning just an octave lower. I remember hearing that David Gilmour played the Fretless Bass parts on the Wall because Roger had a hard time playing without frets, I don't know how true that is but I did hear it somewhere.

  • Comment removed

  • You are right about gilmour played the bass instead of roger on the parts of the wall. Actually Gilmour played the bass in another brick in the wall and in one of these days originally.

Gilmour is a genius!!! and so is roger for his genius lyrichs

    Shine on

  • They're two different skills - guitar is supposed to lead the music, while bass provides the foundation. It's true that a guitar player can play the bass, but he won't do a very good job at it, because the skills emphasize different things.

Of course, most guitarists and bassists can play both, like David Gilmour, for example.

  • I sorta agree with you in some ways, but that is not always the case. In some bands, the bass is the main driving force behind the music, with the guitar sorta filling in the gaps. A lot of Iron Maiden stuff is like that, plus the Chillis etc. But in my opinion really great bands mix their albums so that everything sorta blends together.

And yeah, ive been a guitarist for 15 years and i only played a bass recently, and i sorta rocked. So yeah, any guitarist can just pick up a bass it seems.

  • That's untrue. A guitarist can play bass, but they have to alter their mindset. Unless ego is a problem a guitarist can easily switch to playing in the background.

I happen to think bass solos are incredible BTW.

  • @omegaham

    Agreed.

The bass is the link between the melody and the rhythm. It sews everything together.

  • More like David giving Roger bass lessons that is. Majorisen74 is correct. David did play base on several albums as Roger was not up to the parts. Mainly fretless base parts.

Roger won a few awards on the bass lines for the wall, and never mentioned David was the one playing them...

  • So... Did Gilmour made Pigs 3 diff. ones (Animals) intro? (sounds fretless)? I think Hey you (The Wall) gave fretless bass sound too after guitar solo...

  • David actually gave lessons to Sid when the band first started, and when Sid drifted away from the band David stepped in as a "short term" replacement that turned permanent over time. Any slide base you hear is not Roger up to Pink Floyd's last album, The Final Cut. I do not know if Roger ever learned to play slide bass. Additionally, David did play many parts that Roger could not play. Roger is by no means an accomplished Bass player, he is a song writer, singer, and Bass Player in that order..

  • naah, gilmour played roger's stuff while recording because he is better

  • I love how deep and moving the lyrics are

  • Umphreys Mcgee does a fantastic cover of this song.

  • Cool that Gilmour threw in a little of (almost) "Sunshine of Your Love" at the end of his solo ~2:25 in...

  • Considering he didn't create or have anything to do with that song, yeah, it was cool.

  • I think its funny how the whole song is double meanings... even the name (Big Bottom also means lots of Bass)

  • "i met her on monday, twas my lucky BUN-day" sooo hilarious!!! i love how they have 3 basses playing the same thing.

    dave gilmour is awesome too

  • where's nigel?

  • lol!!! People think Pink Floyd are so serious.. Good for David Gilmour.

  • lmao was that the drummer that blew up at the end???

  • their coming back on tour- google unwigged com

  • is there any reason derek is in a neck brace?

  • Knowing Spinal Tap, probably not.

  • In this video clip, you can see the miniature stonehenge dangling.

  • i love it...."how could I leave this BEHIND?" What a play on words!!!!

  • they rock

comedians or not they have talent.thank you

    sporto

    crimes in graceland

  • you guys do realize spinal tap was a group of comedians and the whole band was a big joke. They did alot of copying other bands gimmicks. That was the joke!!

  • "you guys do realize spinal tap............"

Do people really think they were a legitimate band?

All of the drummers dying, Nigels infamous solos plus they go to 11. The dwarfs trodding upon the Stonehenge monument.

    Still a riot.

  • forgot about the stonehenge that was fuckin hilarious

  • well they are going on a 30 city tour of the US, im sure it will be like half comedy and half music though

  • aero515 you are the dumbass. What the HELL does the word completeling mean? Learn how to spell you f@#$ing idiot. Oh by the way I was responding to someone who said Spinal Tap had a black album cover before Metallica did. AC/DC obviously had one before both of them. I wasn't even talking about something being on the cover, just the fact that it was black. 'YA JERK OFF!

  • AC/DC had a black album cover way before Spinal Tap or Metallica. Does Back In Black ring a bell? Or should I say a Hells Bell?

  • but the albums not completeling black(AC/DC) and on Metallica theres a snake on it dumbass

  • I saw Tap years ago in NY, and they had quite a few famous people sitting in with them. Skunk Baxter was one guy who was on stage with them all night.

  • if thats gilmour then im bloody kermit the frog

  • Hey Kermit, wow I didn't think that it was possible for muppets could use computers!

  • That's not Dave Gilmour - looks more like Tap's manager!

  • Ugh ya it is Gilmour.

  • yeah definitely Gilmour

  • that's definitely Gilmour.

  • Gilmour actually had to call in Tap to finish the tracks on Dark Side of the Moon. Floyd really only overdubbed the vocals, much like the Monkess. Zep used Tap the same way. Spinal Tap - the unsung heroes of Rawk!!!

  • I can die happy

  • Just kidding! I was just trying to add to the Spinal Tap mythology. Tap did have the Black album cover WAY before Metallica stole the idea from them, though. Did you see the press conference Tap held to say so? It was a hoot!!!
