They help with the house and they stay there obviously for free. the maid doesn't have to find her own apartment or anything. the family has to give the maid a free apartment ( which costs about 60 thousand dollars a year) or give the maid a room in the house. I myself had a bad expereince in Dubai. There are several workers there that are deceived or cheated. These abused workers cant go back to their country because they cant afford it, since their salary is withheld and worst, their passports too. Construction businesses are braging they earn millions whereas they couldnt pay these poor workers right and on time. If UAE is not "earning" that much, maybe this issue is no big deal. They could reason out that they just couldnt afford to pay them.

I lived and worked in Alyn for 5 yrs between 83-88.The abuse at that time to housemaids was horrendous...RAPE, BEATINGS, STARVATION....they were forced to work from dawn to dusk for very little pay.These poor girls were terrified...can't believe the arrogance of some of the locals in the UAE!

do u know who treat maids bad? it is another gulf country but because all eyes on UAE they love to make us sound bad... Well they have the choice and if they are treated bad they can always go back to their countries, or the offices they came from and change homes. We don't starve, beat or rape our maids ...

Well Al Ain is not like the rest of the UAE and each country have police station and who ever get abused she/he can tell the authorities. however don't generate your judgement. If they are not happy they can go to their countries... it is not like we would die without them.

besides these type of things happen all around the world... why the focus on UAE only? they always can go back to their countries if they don't like the situations ... and for ur info there are many maids who ruined houses and killed kids from the UAE.

Some maids stole husbands from their wives and casted black spelled on Emirati families, personally a maid in someone's house that I know did that so their 1 years old baby get blood cancer and the maid admitted that ... why don't we see documentaries and reports about this?

I am not saying all Emirati people are bad to maids, I have spoken to some philipino girls who have had nasty experiences.I know that saudi Arabia is one of the most barbaric countries in the world.What is happening in the Emirates now is really sad, it appears to have turnerd into some sort of drinking hell, with whores!I feel sorry for the local women and the older locals.

no you focus on uae. there have been plenty of reports of abuse in other pats of the world. and there you'll see the nationalists (like yourself) from those countries complaining that the focus is on them. nationalists are pathetic and have selctive hearing too. did you notice this report metions that their passports are held from them? ofcourse not.all you're capable of is thinking of the emirati's intrests.
