this show was so sucessful during its run in the 80's ....one the 80's shows i truly miss AND and is not hard to watch some twenty plus yrs later (unlike some shows like t.j. hooker and the A Team) "Vice" and Hill Street Blues were (i think) the best cop shows of the 80's hands down..different styles but both were considered ground breaking and in my opinion easily pass the test of time in terms of watchability.
Jan Hammer is awesome his music really made a difference with this show as well as the action TV shows today just do not stack up to the 80,s shows this was the best show of the 80,s as well
I think most of this soundtrack is all Jan Hammer's work. I always love the acoustic version of the song Smugglers Blues that Glen Fry recorded for that episode of Miami Vice. On that episode is the only time I've ever heard that acoustic version.
I'm 15... And I have all 5 seasons in a box set because I wanted them badly, I'd never watched a snip of Miami Vice before and I instantly fell in love with the whole scene of Miami Vice. I was a few years out of the 80's, but even I know that they were the best damn decade ever and nothing will change history, especially this show, they can try and remake it all they want, but will only fail because of the sheer fact that this show is meant for the 80's and you cannot remake it in 2010, simple.

I believe that because Miami VIce had very high production values that cost a lot. All the 1980's television series had high production values like movies do, which is why the 1980's ruled. Now at days television sucks because networks just spend 5 bucks to have morons off the street sing, dance, or live on an island. No television show has ever had as much great music as Miami VIce.
@Mrster Miami Vice was not the only 1980's show with high production values and a movie type feel to it. Almost All the NBC shows had high production costs and a movie type feel once Brandon Tartekoff (I know I just spelled his name wrong) took over because he was young and aggressive and wanted to make mini movies on television. Other networks had to follow suit and raise their production values to keep up with NBC. Now NBC spends nothing on shows and is dead last in the ratings.

The top tax rate was 70% Reagan cut it to 35% and eliminated many of the tax shelters the rich relied on to avoid paying taxes. The interest for a home loan mortgage was 16%. Inflation was at 12%. this show was so sucessful during its run in the 80's ....one the 80's shows i truly miss AND and is not hard to watch some twenty plus yrs later (unlike some shows like t.j. hooker and the A Team) "Vice" and Hill Street Blues were (i think) the best cop shows of the 80's hands down..different styles but both were considered ground breaking and in my opinion easily pass the test of time in terms of watchability.

I think most of this soundtrack is all Jan Hammer's work. I always love the acoustic version of the song Smugglers Blues that Glen Fry recorded for that episode of Miami Vice. On that episode is the only time I've ever heard that acoustic version.

I'm 15... And I have all 5 seasons in a box set because I wanted them badly, I'd never watched a snip of Miami Vice before and I instantly fell in love with the whole scene of Miami Vice. I was a few years out of the 80's, but even I know that they were the best damn decade ever and nothing will change history, especially this show, they can try and remake it all they want, but will only fail because of the sheer fact that this show is meant for the 80's and you cannot remake it in 2010, simple.

I believe that because Miami VIce had very high production values that cost a lot. All the 1980's television series had high production values like movies do, which is why the 1980's ruled. Now at days television sucks because networks just spend 5 bucks to have morons off the street sing, dance, or live on an island. No television show has ever had as much great music as Miami VIce.

@Mrster Miami Vice was not the only 1980's show with high production values and a movie type feel to it. Almost All the NBC shows had high production costs and a movie type feel once Brandon Tartekoff (I know I just spelled his name wrong) took over because he was young and aggressive and wanted to make mini movies on television. Other networks had to follow suit and raise their production values to keep up with NBC. Now NBC spends nothing on shows and is dead last in the ratings.
