  • i would always cry at this song and it was always raining out

  • So many good ones but this is my fav Carole King song.

  • got to love Carol thx for the post

  • A perennial classic; the clarity of her voice and lyrics is what makes her so heart felt. And the music, of course.

  • Timeless beauty and voice. She was awesome last night singing at the tree lighting in Rockefeller center in NYC. They also had other classic acts such as Tony Bennett and Neil Diamond. Amazing after all these years how these exceptional performers still move people.

  • Just saw Carole King on the Today Show....years go by and this is still the best of the best when comes song writers and singers. Such Talent!

  • The picture does really look like its from the '70's!

  • @Kylebristow You listen to Carole King when you're LONELY, sad, or reflective, because she's soothing/very kind. People that think you're sad because you listen to pop music are only sad themselves. They're sad because they can't feel what you feel when you hear music like this, or they don't want to. Don't sweat it man, every song in pop music is popular to different people for different reasons, and there are too many kinds of pop music to make blanket statements about all of it. :)

  • I have always loved her songs. Never get tired. wcbomers21 i agree. You have put it so sweetly just a in a few words. Carol capture her soul in her songs and in so doing ours as well.

    lan

  • thankyou for uploading such a beautiful song

  • it would be so fine to see youre face at my door. but it sure dont not help to know that youre so far away :(

  • you gotta listen on headphones, it'll blow you mind, all the different instruments, her voice, just groovy stuff man

  • You can't help but go into this like "outer realm" of peace and tranquility when you listen to this song! Carole's voice has yet to be replicated...she's in a category all her own! Sheer GENIUS!!

  • the bass is phenomenol

  • Totally timeless brilliance - pure enduring class.

  • This song touches me in a very deep way.

It's strange how in this world where we can "communicate" with others at the click of a mouse that I feel more alone and "far away" from others than I ever have done. This song comforts me somehow, because I know how she felt when she wrote it and I don't feel so alone in feeling that way.

  • Look ma...no auto tune

  • Beyond beautiful.

  • Tapestry is one of those albums that should be in everybody's record collection

  • @philhable Got it on vinyl and 8 track. Anyone ever what happened to the cat in the album pic? Just me..

  • @1998disco72 I think the cat went to meet its makes a while ago. It would be 287 years old it cat years if it were still alive today.

  • Bein born in the early 50's yu can see how music has evolved from the beach boy's british invasion and all the way thru up to about the mid nineties and for people like myself we ar blindsided by wats happenin in todays music, i honestly can't find anythin that is really musically interestin to me somebody commented that Jack White is roks saving grace for the new millenium, i hope there is more than that,OPINIONS

  • I was in Stowe, Vermont, far from the special friend who lived in Florida, when this song came on at a little mountain pub. So this song will always bring to mine that friend, and that moment. That was 38 years ago now!!!

  • I miss you W.R.R. Please come back. I need you in my life. I'm sorry. And you'll never see this, and I can't tell you. I'm sorry.

  • real music,, miss it*(

  • beautifully written musicality and sooo 70's.

    ...perfect

  • musics nowadays are garbage....

these kinds of musics from the 70s are the best...

  • Fortunately my Mum and Dad had a copy of this classic album back in the 70s and it's never lost its lustre. Carole's just a beautiful singer and songwriter.

  • doesn't get more classic than this - the warmth in Carole King's voice is unbelievable

  • love you Carole

  • Timeless

  • I am 25 and I love this!!

  • That cat does not know how lucky it is.

  • <3

  • Carole King and Carly Simon -- two female and iconic real vocalists who are deeply ingrained in my psyche stemming from my youthful perceptions of love. This song is most lovely and its timelessness is indicative of the true talent of its era.

  • What an artist, what bittersweet lyrics.

  • Maybe not a great technical singer. But a great artist and musician nonetheless. Oh, and the greatest female songwriter of all time, if not the greatest, period.

  • Carol King the greatest. Her voice is so lovely she was really able to capture the inner beauty of her soul! just gorgeous. Where have these artist gone geeez.

  • @wcbombers21

When conglomerates take over ANYTHING, the result is ALWAYS a bland, processed product intended to please everyone, but, never pleases anyone...of quality, that is.

If they'd just let artists be themselves & express their true point of view, culture, as a whole, would benefit.

We'd also be even better able to separate also-rans from true legends.:)

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 Nicely said and I agree!!

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 this is the reason i hate k-pop. its music designed to be acceptable by the largest group of people, it has no originality or creativity. and corporations reap billions off of them

  • @wcbombers21 nowadays you have to search through the indie music scene. but they are there. check out a gal named nina nastasia. shes pretty good. or jolie holland.

  • @garyteasing thanks i will!

  • @wcbombers21 Checkout Corrine Bailey Rae

  • @wcbombers21 she's still around - played the Troubadour with James taylor recently

  • @nineteenthly ...REALLY!! dang it i missed her =[

  • @wcbombers21 They filmed a recent date on the tour. It's currently available on DVD on Carole King's site. Click the live link below the screen.

  • What a lovely song!

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1

Love this song. It just reminds me of being a little girl in the 70's.

  • I was less than 10 years old when this album came out, yet fell in love with her music while listening to it with my older sister, Phyllis. Rest in Peace, sis; I miss you....

  • a very beautiful song....

  • carole king's "tapestry" is one of the greatest albums ever produced...listen...then thumbs up.

  • Loved this song and what a great artist she is. We have been so fortunate to have had you in our generation.

  • This one is for Evan. We will meet again soon

  • This song was replayed to me, with a vinyl sent to me by my very 1st date, classmate and child sweetheart & we're both just 7 years old... she's now also happily married & settled in Australia, named her 1st son after me and we loved each other like nothing else matters then... and we were only 12 when we parted after her family emigrated when she turned 13... thanks for this vid reminder... ;)

  • @UgoIgo Great story. Thanks for sharing!

  • @peacefulblonde39, TQ for sharing yr thoughts over my experience. May yours be equally braced with similar and loving memories during your younger days. :)

  • I discovered this song a couple of years ago, but it is today that I can finally identify with it fully. :'(

  • The 70's had by far the best music!

  • This song is so true!!! It says how I feel sometimes...

  • @robnrick1 absolutely!!!!

  • What a great song as all of hers are. Oh the memories. What a great time that was everyone had a cause and our generation has so much great music and musicians. Those were the days my friends.

  • I honestly feel Tapestry was the best album of all time ever. On most good albums there are 1 or 2 songs that stand out, but on this album every song is tremendous. For me in this moment in time, this album, Carole King just was amazing. Hundreds of times when I was depressed and blue I would listen to this album,... crazy but I really feel it saved my life, gave me strength to go on.

  • Learning it at the moment... it'll never touch this recording, though. :)

  • Lang geleden dat ik die gehoord had... Mooie herinneringen...

  • Great song that reminds me of all my friends and family even though I am the one that can't seem to stay in one place ever but I still wish everybody I love was close to me.

  • music in the background of my life when i was a kid running in the beaches and jungles of my pacific island of Guam...U.S.A...Only three channels on television and four radio stations.so we were all outside playing and playing and playing.

  • This song brings me back to my childhood!!! what ever happened to singer song writers?

  • @cpr519 we are out there....trying to make our way through all of the rock bands that drown us out. I can hardly get a gig in my hometown bc all they want are big boy bands. I'm still going though....just going to other towns. I've had two reviews that compare me to Carole King so I came to check out her music and maybe do a cover of her. Would love to meet her. I've written 20 songs but seriously can't afford to do anything with them right now. so many sharks out there too.

  • Everything about my childhood is in that album...

  • Mum introduced Tapestry to me when I was a toddler & we used to listen to her on repeat for hours. I absolutely love her, defiantly my favourite artist and her album will always be special to me because it reminds me of the good times with Mum

  • loverly.....painful.

    Gives me The Miss...

  • Momma and I were in a used record shop and she told me to get a copy of Tapestry. Really happy she was there that day because I don't regret buying it one bit. Pretty great way to spend $5 right?

  • We lovee Carole King. She has a amazing voice :)

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • Its hard to imagine but this cat on this album cover is still alive.the tapestry cat is one of the oldest house cats in the world. this is early 70s and now its 2011 wow what a puss.

  • wish someone did this one on american idol. it was carol king night!

  • @ando1135 I agree

  • One of the most prevalent songs of my childhood.

  • I love you Hj. I miss you so much...it kills me everyday that you' are "so far away"

  • @Californiway right there with you... how I miss those days.

  • @Californiway Totally understandble. First time listening to this song and my eyes become teary lol

  • i grew up on carole king, i got my first guitar when i was 11, my mom had her albulm, i got the tapestry music book, and could play every song in that book before i was 12, im 46, and i still remember how to play most of them,

  • @drianbamaged I did too. I am 45. Takes me right back to my childhood.

  • This song brings back days when things were good.Being on the Ski Patrol not a care in the world just sking and makeing sure there was wood and wine for afterwards. Thanks

  • @Misfitsix1 sounds nice!

  • Tapestry is one of those albums that should be a must have for anyone who loves music.

  • You're so far away, Lee, and today I especially can't stand it, because I want you so much. When I think of you, this song comes to mind, you're so far away.....I love you so much. From your lover, Kelly five thousand miles away xxxxxxxx to Lee Mitchell, the finest musician in all of the world. xxxxxx

  • Im 18 and a while ago I played one of Carole King's song for my friend and she said "I dont think she can sing." I told her that she obviously didn't know what good music is and that listening to too many auto-tuned voices obviously blinded her to real music and real singers.

  • @doctordawna

The last South Park episode made me feel that way. I am old... Not too old 27 old. And still have problems relating to the new stuff, but the classics get me every time. Corole King is in a league of her own. Poetry in Motion, you don't get emotion like this in music anymore.

  • @k2blue7 "getting old" is not the last eipsidoe, on a interview tray parker said they will continue south park but there just not having fun doing it but they are still making episodes

  • @doctordawna

I knew it was the last of the season; And not the last in general; But it still made me feel a lot like Stan. I am happy that it isn't necessarily an age gap that makes music good or bad, rather it's ability to transcend the differences that we all have and make one another relative. Carole is heartfelt and genuine, and it is so difficult to find that nowadays with music; I hear more gimmicks or hooks than anything else. I am glad that you get it DoctorDawna.

  • @doctordawna Well Done. I'm 37 and grew up on this music and my memories of my Mom signing this and songs alike, I will cherish forever...

  • Remenbering my seventies

  • Tapestry, what else can I say, I wore out 5 albums before they invited CD's

Carole is a gift to us all, a national treasure

  • yes, you are far away....______

  • Carol King very talented artist.... Nothing else like this song !

  • growing up in the 70's there were so many incredible songs, singers that make you think back to those days when families ate dinner around a table together, 3 channels, neighbors who looked out for you, friends that actually called i
