  • But in the dark knight batman had to kill dent and yes he killed him not the fall in order to save the child

  • Batman doesn't kill in our modern world back then he did

  • Comment removed

  • Batman put on his rape face.

  • Batman used to kill in the old comics and thus the Burton movies were based on these

  • The occasional kill was never out of the ordinary for Batman. Even in the comics. More so in the first several years but it still happens from time to time.

  • Batman did not kill that guy - Michael Keaton did.

  • If Batman doesnt kill like this, hes only wasting his time.

  • Batman's pretty much The Punisher who doesn't use guns here.

  • batman has actully killed before

1 he killed his first guy by punching him in the skull and cracked it and died

    2 he accidentaly killed joker

  • wait, why was the fat guy wearing a bomb jacket?

  • keaton kills

  • he didnt really kill him

  • WTF DOES ANYONE UNDERSTAND THAT BATMAN DOES NOT KILL ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @121Mayan applies to latter films too like Batman Forever. Implied that he used to kill when Batman tries to stop Robin from killing Two-Face.

  • @121Mayan The bomb killed him,not Batman

  • Why would a bomb have a lit fuse and a time-clock at the same time?

  • @imagineerboi Just watch a standard action packed film. Majority of explosions have some sort of clock or digital device that countdowns the time until it blows up.

  • @MisterMeddle I know, I was just pointing out that the bomb had both a lit fuse and a ticking time set clock which is weird since a bomb would need only one of the two things.

  • @imagineerboi and why would a man dress up as a bat to fight crime? It's fake my friend. No need to over analyze everything.

  • Bale is afraid to kill, the fat guy would have kicked his Dork Knight-butt.

  • fuck with keaton you die ! deal with it !

  • Thats the same guy who played Bane

  • Ahh, this was one of the reasons I really liked the Burton Batman. He was completely nuts. You never knew if he was just going to beat the badguy up, or straight up murder him.

  • batman really used to kill people until the writers decided to give him the "code" so dat they can keep getting the villains back.

read the first issue of batman(detective comics #27).in that he punches a guy into a vat of acid! and he also twists a guys neck(killing him).

so batman having the "code" in a movie won't make much sense..so i agree with tim burton/keaton's batman.

  • @anirudhkrishnamani That's right. Burton was mostly shown the earlier comics when he was doing Batman 1989 so killing probably didn't seem unusual to him. Based on the material that he read. Regardless of his "code", Batman has killed in every incarnation. Even a few times in the past few years. The killings weren't absolutely necessary (like with Two Face in TDK). Batman just has a tendency of losing control of his temper due to his anger.

  • @MisterMeddle He did not kill Two Face in the dark knight. Pretty sure the fall killed him.He didnt kill him,he just didnt save him

  • @muclesmarinara Um, what are you talking about "he just didn't save him"? It's not like Dent died from putting himself on the spot, like what happened w/ Ra's Al Ghul. Batman speared Dent out of the building and the fall caused his death. He was officially written out of the story so there is no "pretty sure the fall killed him". The fall DID kill him and it was Batman that did it from choice. However it was necessary just to save the child's life. Re-watch the movie dude.

  • @MisterMeddle I have seen it 100 times my friend. I just look at it differently. No one has even said that Dent HAS died yet have they? I though I heard someone say that he was in a coma. I dont know but I wouldnt say Batman killed him. He didnt strangle him or anything. He rammed him but,the ram didnt kill him,the fall did... if he is in fact dead.

  • @muclesmarinara I heard of this argument before. He was officially written out of the universe. Even in the script it states that he died. You don't have to strangle or shoot somebody in order to kill them. Batman caused the fall so he's responsible. But like I said, it was one of the rare times where the killing was necessary in order to save the child.

  • @MisterMeddle well agree to disagree

  • @muclesmarinara Sounds fair.

  • >batman doesn't kill

    >batman kills fat dude

    >batman fans mad

  • I Love Keaton's Batman

  • title should be batman kills bigshow

  • The guy's not even armed...and all he did was stomp on his toe. Sticking a fucking bomb in his pants was kind of excessive on Batman's part XD He may as well just carry an assault rifle and lay waste to these fuckers.

And I can't believe all the comments on here trying to justify it because you don't see the guy die. Did you see the blast? Survival is unlikely, and even if he lived, he's horrifically maimed for life at best, so....yeah, way to take the moral high ground. XDDD

  • We never see him die, so technically you can't really say Batman killed him. Also when he sets the clown on fire, he could've been seriously injured, but not dead.

  • @SFO14 That is a stupid fucking lame excuse. Im a hardcore batman fan and i wasnt too fond of this scene. Stop coming up with retarded reasons.

  • @xunit94 Well I'm glad you thought profanity was the way to go to get your point across. It makes me value and respect your opinion even more.

  • The batman from the dark knight wasnt even this dark

  • The bomb could have only injured him.

  • 6 people belive you can stop guys with swords without killing them.

  • Anyone noticed the Willheim scream at the beginning?

  • @Xcyper33 I hate that scream.

  • wow, I don't wanna a guy like him watching over us.

  • What is with his rule? :o

  • And this is the scene where I officially gave up on this as a Batman film. I've never known Batman to take pleasure in killing someone.

  • @DAZing23 ya allow me to explain unlike the other incarnations in both comic cartoon and movie, this one not only found the murderer of his parents. It was the Joker and he killed him. Since then he has had no problems with killing people. He does however revert back to that one rule briefly when he tried to stop Catwoman from killing Max Schreck. However before that one rule Batman has been known to kill in his comics and after that rule he did lament that he wanted to kill Joker.

  • completely goes against the comics

  • So THIS is where the "Batman is fapping" picture cam from.

  • 0:22 the smile before owning the guy

  • BATMAN WINS FATALATY

  • Comment removed

  • sorry, but tim burton himself said that that thug didnt die. batman didnt kill him. get the batman anthalogy....or i guess the blue ray of returns now, dunno. anyway, in the commentary burton talks about this and says the guy didnt die and he (burton) was shocked people made such a big deal of it

  • @FreeStyleStories did his fat prevent the bomb from blowing him up?

  • @deltamode8 burton said the explosion was weak. *shrugs*

  • @FreeStyleStories

It was a bomb at point blank range. That doesn't change that he also burned three guys to death earlier in the movie.

Mind you I like this film, but he did kill criminals in this movie.

  • @SLPIFan Technically you're incorrect. You never actually see them die. ;-)

  • @PonyboyInNewZealand

They weren't going to show several guys charred to death in a film wanting wide audiences.I think that there were clear implication and the makers of the movie themselves in the special features said that they intended for their Batman to kill because they thought it would be nonsensical for him to as they put it "Just drop them in a net in front of city hall"

Again, him killing doesn't really detract from the film for me. To me it works with his character Arc in FOREVER

  • @SLPIFan Of course not... haha, I love both of Burton's films. They are made for darker times. Batman "killed" in the first film as well.

  • @PonyboyInNewZealand

He did, but only in the third act if you really look at. Not until after he discovered he was up against the murderer of his parents (which is how I always interpreted it).In RETURNS he's in his big dark vengeance/killing phase when he feels theres nothing left, and in FOREVER he's in his remorseful and repetent time for what he did in the past and trying to keep Dick from making those seme mistakes. I think that was a good character arc. To bad they made a bad 4th film

  • @SLPIFan I guess it depends on your point of view. I think Burton pulled it off in a manner in which you could see that Batman was a bit ambivalent about 'killing.' Batman certainly wasn't going to cart them off to jail, but he certainly did leave them 'to die' as it were. I suppose the only way around that would've been to show Gordon and his men mopping up a bit more after Batman.

  • damn i love this scene. badass music, badass batman.

  • The fat dude disliked this one... heh.

  • NICE.

  • This batman is more realistic. You can't play i refuse to kill people way and win. Bale's batman is a fairytale.

  • @SeventhRoar666

Agreed. Totally ridiculous moral foundation. After just a few months, few would far Batman. At worst, he would lock you up. I wanted a more realistic, blood thirsty, vigilante Batman that would pull out spines.

  • @evesplittheatom Its not about morals, its about beeing true to the character, if i want The Punisher i watch a Punisher movie. Besides, even if Tim Burtons Batman in fact DOES kill criminals, then why is he against Selina Kyle/Catwoman killing Max Shrek?

  • @evesplittheatom Sooooo you want Midnighter?

  • @evesplittheatom Grow up. Bloodthirsty Batman pulling spines out isn't realistic, it's over the top porn for sadistic young boys.

  • @evesplittheatom few? You obviously dont know Batman. Fuck spines.

  • @SeventhRoar666

it's actually not bale's batman though. it's nolan's batman, the batman that he gave bale to play, in which bale plays him out wonderful.

  • @SeventhRoar666 THANK YOU! Seriously people need to lighten up about the no kill policy. I've followed Batman all my life, but that doesn't mean I have to like his mortality; LOOK at the crimminals he deals with on a normal basis; Joker (kills thousands of people DAILY), Killer Croc (kills and EATS countless people), Scarecrow (fucks people's minds for laughs), Ivy (kills people because she believes their inferior to PLANTS); for god sake it's ridiculous.

  • @TheInstantClassic1 you've obviously never read any of Batman's comics bro.

  • @airgilbert ya I am gonna have to call bullshit on that. Because technically you never read the right comics either if you didn't know. Before they retconned Batman with his no kill rule, he has been known to kill most criminals since Detective comics 27 in 1939. He has also been known to carry a gun as well. That being said unlike the other incarnations this one avenged his parent's death and since had no trouble killing criminals until the climax of returns.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker

He only killed for approximately a year of publication before they gave him the no kill rule.

I'm not a Burton Batman film hater, I like them both, but just sayin' how it was.

  • @SLPIFan I wasn't trying to insult you or anything, but every day I always here the same thing "But batman never kills ever." I get sick and tired of it. When those same people watch this movie as soon as they see this part they immediately switch it off. If they had watched it they would known that at the part where he tried to persuade catwoman not to kill max. He saw what kind of person he was becoming and tried to keep her from doing the same since she never really killed anyone.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker

    How were you insulting me?

I wills say this. Him killing in this movie doesn't particularly bug me personally, but I can understand why many other fans would take offense to it (some view it as basically making him Punisher in a batsuit with cool enemies). Although I think the reason I never really had an issue with it is that I was introduced to the first three Batman films all at the same time where in FOREVER they said Bruce had learned from regretted his mistakes.

  • 0:22

Without a doubt the best grin on earth. It so evil and yet he represents all that is good.

    To me Keaton IS Batman.

  • lol,, dammm this batman is badass,,, after watching tim burton u realize how much nolan's batman's suck

  • This is how I like my Batman, not reluctant to waste villains. Bale's Batman just screams his head off all the time but refuses to kill any criminals.

  • @MegaSpliffster2 @JOKAWILD26 You're missing the point of who Batman is. He doesn't kill people carelessly because that doesn't make him any different than his villains. Read Batman comics much? Nolan's version is the most accurate and best of them all.

  • @MegaSpliffster2 you're really closeminded for comparing it as "bale's batman" because it's the batman that nolan gave to him, and the most accurate batman. that's what makes the whole thrill, that he can't kill anyone. if he could, you might as label it with the other old generic and cliche "kill-the-bad-guy" movies.

  • 0:08 Wilhelm Scream

  • i like this batman :)

  • Michael Keaton > Christian Bale

By the way im not trying to say that Bale isn´t a good Batman, im just saying that Keaton is the best

  • so, how did the bomb end up on the fat dude?

  • @bonzot batman used his mad ninja skills to put it in his belt with his left hand while his right hand was meeting fatboy's face.

  • @thecaliforniaknight he's bigger the bail

  • Made my day!xD

  • a lot of people seem to have a problem with scene but really look at it, first of all this is a really cartoonish scene it could almost be a looney tune gag. point 2 the actual explosion looks kinda small for having that many sticks of dynamite I actually hav some doubts if he's really dead.

Also I love that the Michael Keaton Batman is so badass he can throw someone so hard that the wilhelm scream comes out.

  • @MeddleOnline he didn't kill fake ras but he didn't have to save him, same with real ras

  • fucking wilhelm scream ruins every scene of any movie it appears in.

  • Keaton was the greatest batman of all time without a doubt

  • In a lot of the older comics (around 1940s) it was pretty common for batman to kill people. He strangled some guy, snapped anothers neck even carried a gun and with the holster on his chest.

  • @MyMegalomaniac Those were few and didn't last long. It quickly became Batman's defining principle that he would never kill anyone. He drew the line at killing people because he knew that if he didn't draw it there, there was nowhere else he could draw it, and then he'd be just as bad as the rest.

  • omg he just murdered some unarmed dude in cold blood

  • @Ombrenuit There is nothing worse than getting murdered by a man wearing tights, but then again this man in tights gets to be licked on the lips by catwoman.

  • omfg, batman just murdered some unarmed in cold blood

  • OWNED.

  • Batman never smiles..

  • When Keaton bites his bottom lip, you know someone's gonna die.

  • Love Batman's smirk when he kills that guy! That is absolutely priceless. Michael Keaton has the perfect emotive for that character.

  • Keaton's Batman doesn't give two fucks about "The #1 Rule".

  • I loved the Burton ones for visualization and the Nolan ones for story... but Batman does not KILL! That much is simple... it defeats the purpose of Bats if he's going around town just killing people

  • Now THATS how you kill a fat guy!

  • Wilhelm scream! Yes.

  • I agree with all of you in the fact that Batman is psychotic, but Batman is not a killer. His goal is to clean Gotham City from criminals, not to kill them. That's what keeps him distanced from the Joker and Two Face.

Burton portrayed the character in a much darker way, but he didn't stay truly faithful to the comic books (in fact, he always said that he never was a fan of comic books).

But "Batman Returns" is a great movie, anyway :)

  • well in the earliest batman comics, he did kill.

  • @Dmasterman thanks for the knowledge thats something new sir

  • @insanemark Of course

  • @Dmasterman WITH A GUN! D:

  • @Hidal1989 to be honest most of the reason why batman never kills in the comics or in the nolan films or even in the animated series is because either someone else robbed him of the chance to avenge his parents or the killer gets away with it, burtons batman has already killed the man responsible for his parents but before then he still followed that one rule, all the incarnations were perceived as murderers by scared criminals before they really did it anyway so might as well make him a killer.

  • I never had a problem with this scene, but I know people always protested it because Batman kills and acts sorta pyscho. Well anyone who dresses up like a bat and decides to be a crime fighter is not a normal person.

  • I agree, any grown man who wears tights in public is not that normal.

  • I just don't know what he enjoyed more blowing that fat guy to a million pieces or getting licked on the lips by catwoman's sexy tongue

  • Exactly.

To be honest Batman is absolutely insane. It's there in the comics like Arkham Asylum and The Killing Joke.

Batman is the same as The Joker, they're both dark reflections of each other. The only thing is Batman has the memory of his parents and this whole thing of I have a mission which is what is keeping him underwraps and keeping him from becoming a villain.

  • Pwned

  • I loved the characterisation of Batman in this film. Michael Keaton played him so dark and psychotic. It's great.

  • @americanpsycho28 and he didnt need to deepen his voice like christain bale.hes so awesome michael keaton.

  • @americanpsycho28

Micheal Kreaton? damn, I though he was Val Kilmer
