@MarioandLuigi150 so we don't exactly agree to disagree, however, it may be safe to say that we can agree to wincing whenever we hear the words non-tas around non-professional videogame players.
@MarioandLuigi150 yeah, i guess i see it now there was a bit of a missed angle early at the start... i guess im just a stinker about the parts at 0:16 and 0:18.
Hey, how this glitch is possible? is it just so frame perfect, I´ve tried this hours, but never managed to do that. I saw that one japanish guy used this and fall onto the caged island trick in his 16-star run, and I can only wonder how it is possible =/
I've used that method before to get that star, but it was on accident. I don't know my time, but it was probably slower than I could have done with the cannon.
Well, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" does not seem to be possible. Here is my reasons.
1. You need to do the sideflip-wallkick on top of the house as early as possible so that you have enough reaction time to adjust Mario so that he can face away from the star.
2. You would have to BLJ on almost every frame to pick up enough momentum on the carpet. So unless you can hit A 15 times a second with one hand, it would be likely impossible.
This is the fastest run I have ever seen on this star. And the route you took is not only sweet looking, it's also the most efficient path I've seen as yet.
You really deserve to get the gold here Myles. You never cease to amaze me.
Wow, I didn't think that was possible in one jump. So nice job there.
This is a little off topic but I think I have found a way to get "Into The Igloo" capless. This method involves some tricky BLJing in the entrance though, and I think it's best for a good TASer to do this. Thanks. 5 stars
Hmm... Doesn't seem like it's possible. After all, the star and the entrance are on different levels. I did try BLJing on top of one of the ice walls, but there wasn't enough room to change Mario's direction enough for him to reach the star. =/
That's a good idea sm64pro. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
The fact that the star is higher is a problem as SL said. Is there a way to BLJ at the entrance, bounce off a goomba while moving backwards, and land where the star is?
I actually wasn't even thinking about bouncing off of a goomba while carrying that much speed, but that method of approach might be more efficient than my method. I was thinking that you can jump into the ice cage that the star is in. I'll play this game a little more and try and get it.
Well, after playing this for an hour or so, I just picked up so much momentum that I flew through all the ice walls you might have to lure the goomba out towards you a little, as he tends to stay under the star. I am not sure if the wood is easier to penetrate though. I haven't got it yet, but I am sure its possible.
Ok, so if the star turns out impossible, at least something good comes out of it.
You should destroy all goombas and spindrifts before you attemot this, as you don't want to crash into them. The one time I did this i crashed into a goomba. Also, you should BLJ into the right side of the entrance, as it's closer to the coins, so less speed is needed.
Thanks, right side of the entrance def makes more sense for the reason you mentioned.
Getting the speed to go through walls doesn't seem like it'll be a problem, however stopping at the perfect time inside of the 20 coin ice wall will take incredible timing.
Is it possible to go through the solid white ice walls beside the star? Or only the see-through blue walls?
I am 99% sure that the solid white ice walls can be penetrated, although I'm pretty sure the see-through blue ones are easier, as the anish cap can go through them and not the white ones. As far as stopping perfectly in the ice wall, you should turn while going backwards to go parallel into the wall. This will give you a greater reaction time and allow you to jump repeatedly, quickly killing any momentum you've required from the BLJ.
If it's possible to go through the white walls beside the star and stop inside of them, would it be possible to jump out of the white walls onto the star platform and get the star?
...Perhaps you only need to vanish cap to reach the star platform from the front and back because of the blue ice walls, but how about the sides?
Yes, that should work. So, heres more advice. You should hit the ice walls dead on, so there is more reaction time. You should try it in the left wall, as it's longer. Whether or not you can get the star all depends on if theres 4 ice walls and not 2. If theres 4, since you have no more speed, you can't get it. But if it's 2, this shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, and I just got "Blast Away The Wall" as my 112th CCless star. Keep striving for 115 (or 116).
For me, if I got Into The Igloo that would be my 115th star. I haven't gotten Somewhere Over The Raindow since I'm a console player and can't use TAS.
I just got "Blast To The Stone Pillar" as my 113th CCless star. Can you do a video on how to bring chuckya into the Wet-Dry World pipe? I always struggle with that pipe. I can take him off the platform he's on. If you decide not to do this, I completely understand. This is the last CCless star I need. Thank you.
I also have 126 coins on Snowmans Land. I did the glitch and nailed it perfectly.
Yes, I know about the secret coin here, hidden in the plank right? Well, I can't get it without the use of a cannon.
Although I am pretty sure you won't believe this... I just got "Quick Race Through Downtown" using the chuckya. I happened to catch a lucky brerak and get him into the pipe. Now you got some competition, as I now have 114 CCless stars. Wow, I got lucky these past few days.
Yeah thats the hidden coin I'm talking about. Requires a good wall kick to get that coin without cannon... very precise.
Good luck with Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Chances of getting Into The Igloo seem better to me if it is possible to land inside the white walls and jump to the star, but if you do enough BLJs maybe you can make history and get Somewhere Over The Rainbow without TAS.
Just one question, if I do get "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", how do I prove I didn't TAS? Since I play on a console, I don't think I can prove that it's not a TAS. Thank you.
Thats not what I meant, what I meant was that if you watch PJ64 vids, they have the toolbar that says Project64 version 1.6, however, I don't have a toolbar for a console. Also, how do you record vids on a console? Thanks.
I use an ATI capture card to record my console vids.
Even though there is no file bar (toolbar) on top of console vids, it is still possible to tell if the vid is console or emulator. On emulator vids, the counters on top of the screen (life, coin, star, time counters) have a dark circle around the digits. Console vids are not encircled this way. Also, there are other graphic details for emulators that are different.
I thought the music stopped cause a glitch was used.

if you would have long, jump, it would be possible to do it in 5 seconds!
HelperPL 4 years ago
What's wrong with your judgment???
1. A long jump would go 2 far.
2. A long jump wouldn't have saved nearly 4 seconds.
mlhownz 3 years ago
a long jump can be done forward then drag backwards so you go slow forward!
nope it's different in the height of thee place you jump
NintendoFreakyZ 3 years ago
1. If you slow down the longjump, it's essentially the same as a jump.
2. What the hell's with that last part?

Hey, since you've flown through all the ice walls now, you could get the 20 coins inside of one of these walls.

And if you could get the star too that'd be great!

Since you play on console, no one will accuse you of TAS. TAS can only be done on a mupen emulator.
12.4 is pretty good for PSS, known WR is 12.3.
