  • Love this song, but disappointed that they jazzed it up. The Psychedelic sound is gone. Danny still sounds good though. Would love for them to come to Louisville. Want to see them bad.

  • MIKE ALLSUP IS AWESOME ...THEY SOUND GREAT

  • What a fricken' costly show !!! Well done indeed

  • Beautiful

  • Great performance....now quit throwing hamburger on the grill . Chuck is good without you but not great. You are good without Chuck but not great. Now bury the hatchet and put the prime rib on.

  • @kingtyr1958 They need to. There's really nothing left for the two separate entities to do.

  • I think this group of singers are awesome taking so many songs from others and making them great

  • Great rendision! Sometimes thier live stuff was way better than the albums! Always one of my favorites! RARHOF!

  • Great rendision!

  • OK, now... that's officially COOL!

  • Pretty awesome all around. I think the Argent original has more drama to it whereas TDN's production always was something more like a wall of sound, but this sounds great . . . and with an orchestra, most bands lose any dynamic drama and just drive everything full-throttle.

  • jimmy coke spoon on keyboards.

  • where's the original drummer? He was awesome!

  • Michael Allsup IS the finest guitarist of all-time. I first saw Three Dog Night in 1969. Even then Michael's guitar work stole the show. Without him Three Dog night simply wouldn't be. Their vocals are still good, but Michael's guitar work is superb.

I saw them twice in the 80s in San Diego at an outdoor open-air show while Chuck was still with them. Michael rocked the show

  • I can`t wait to see them at silver springs ,Michael Allsup is one of the best in the business. they don`t need chuck.

  • Love how Jimmy Greenspoon plays the keyboards in this song. How about Michael Allsup on guitar. Oh my!!! Three Dog Night is amazing. Thumbs up if you agree!!!!!!!!

  • This is so great I don't have the words to even say how awesome they are... I had their 1st 45 record, their 1st album. The meld of the orchestra & 3 Dog Night exceed all boundaries set for rock music I've heard & I've heard alot in my 58 yrs!! Ky gave them the award of KY Colonel In Owenton recently. They deserve much more... I give them 10 stars & a kiss!!

  • Although Three Dog Night had the hit with their recording, this song is actually by Russ Ballard and Argent.

  • This is in my opinion, Iconic performance of this song!!!!

  • These guys have always been wayyyy under rated... What an excellent concert.

  • I LOVE Three Dog Night! Always will!

Their music reminds me of growing up in Australia!

And what would they be without that CRAZY and HILARIOUS Jimmy Greenspoon!

    This concert is unbelievably amazing!

Hey Jimmy, do you remember when I took you sailing in Bermuda around 1980ish?

I still love you brother! I hope you're doing well!

Best Wishes, Your friend, Tyrone Reveen

  • We love this version of this song and we love Three Dog Night one of the best bands to come from our time back in the late sixty's.

  • With this Understanding of the song...Underwritten!....but a LIAR can only do...so much Damage?....The Greatest Liar on Planet Earth pray tell us Superman!...(Three Dog Night as The LORD!..Fear!)..........as the Kingdom of I Am Music!

  • Terrible writing for orchestra

  • Sure, I wish Chuck were with them, but after seeing this lineup live, and seeing Chuck on a PBS special, I'll go with THESE guys. With their bass player, Paul Kingery, they pretty much can replicate what Chuck did in the harmonies. (Check out Paul's "solo" vocal part on Eli's Coming, from the same show.) So, when I saw TDN, I did miss Chuck to a degree, but when I saw Chuck, I found myself missing Cory and Danny BIG TIME. But, of course, I'd love to see the THREE be THREE again!

  • I was glad to see the Colin guy from Zombies singing true and good recently. Same here. Good music lasts. Performances and hype don't.

  • Pat Bautz is my uncle! Great drummer!

  • That's my uncle on the drum set! TDN is amazing!

  • Can anyone answer this question for me...I was told long ago, and have since believed, that TDN broke up due to problems with the mafia/mob. Does anyone know what the real truth is so that I can fianlly rest comfortably?

  • @SuliemanTheGreat no such luck. Negron simply went on a drug-infested journey of twenty years and trashed his life and everybody around him.. Now that he's back, whoopee. . What a wonderful rendition here.

  • @3Rubee

Thank you for the info & setting me straight! At least Negron is cleaned up & back. TDN will always ROCK!!!

  • @SuliemanTheGreat The mob funded the group in the old days?I never got to see them when they were at the top in the 1970's.I did see Danny and Cory at two fairs in the 1990's tho, what a treat.

  • John boyer you are correct the moodies only played with one other orchestra and that was Red Rock

  • Wife and I saw the Blues perform with the Colorado Symphony at Red Rocks in Boulder in '92. Awesome concert ^^

  • this is probably the best live preformence of this song on youtube

  • This is the Best Three Dog Night I have ever heard.Great Stuff!

  • You are all a bunch of morons. This is some of the best music you will ever hear from the best group to never have a number 1 album. Yeah, they now play with an orchestra, al la Moody Blues. But the Blues did not always play with an orchestra, in fact I think they only played with the London Philharmonic on Days of Future Past (may be wrong on that). But Cory Wells has his head on straight! Get your S--T together and enjoy the music!

  • The Orchestra needs to be more menacing

  • AO SOTU

    Joe:

Thought you might enjoy this mood tune, in observance of President Obama's first State Of The Union.

Obama in his own words: LIAR LIAR LIAR!

  • I never knew anyone besides the Moody Blues played with an accompanying orchestra

  • @kenlo77 And Procal Harem also

  • Scorpions do, Hurricaine & zoo

  • Great capture of guitar and vocals of the orignial musicians. Ever region of the USA is almost as different as sseperate European countries.

  • 99.99% of Americans are either:

    a. Making the same decisions, using the same language , do not know; do not care; period

    b. Making the same plans, using the same heartless interpretation of material gain; as planned and currently well underway.

    c. Using new tools and language at the behest of some charismatic promise of wealth in exchange for 100% liar status.

    d. Ashamed to the point of no return.

  • @LampoonedHerd and 99.99% of assholes make rash generalizations about a country the size of all of Europe. We barely speak the same language, let alone have the same culture, and ideas from one coast to the other. My conclusion is you are just as xenophobic and myopic as you claim we are. You can't sling poo without getting some on yourself, so why don't you sit down, and shut up?

  • @LampoonedHerd a question, then. is the fact that the USA speaks one language why Europe can't decide upon 1 or 2 of their own....or maybe only three? after (count the years) you'd suppose that someone there would notice the obvious pitfall of, say, a dozen separate languages in such a very small area.

a: and, fairly blame dedicated, privatized media

b: only planned and currently well underway

c: don't know what you mean there..don't care, either

d: no more than a simple barb to expand the list

  • Terrific! The smiles are wide and the talent is tight.

  • Nice. Thanks.

  • Thank you for posting this!

    Made me smile for sure.

  • One of the greatest bands of all time! God Bless.

  • Danny looks great! He sings great too!

  • WOW! that brings a tear to my eye...shoot!!!

  • Three Dog Night touring without Chuck Negron,Grand Funk Railroad touring without Mark Farner.....what is the point?

  • hey, nothing wrong with tribute bands.if they are good and these ain't no slouches.

  • @ garzaeduardoL Correction! Sorry, this is Not a "tribute" band. This IS Three Dog Night (minus one). Two of the original three singers, Danny Hutton and Cory Wells, still perform together. Chuck Negron was kicked out in 1985 for a drug relapse, and now performs solo. Maybe they ought to rename it Two Dog Night?! Just a thought...hmm

  • I was heartbroken when Chuck Negron started doing dope again. But I sold it to him anyway. A guy's got to make a living.

  • 2:50

  • These guys are true Pro's...I've seen them a number of times in Vegas...WOW! Absolutely Awesome..some people may miss Chuck Negron, but honestly...they more than make up for him being gone...he's not any where the same show...3 Dog Night is way beyond anything Chuck Negronhas done...and I like Chuck Negron...but two different levels of performance...truly!

  • The comment that claims some kind of "I hate Chuck fan club" is odd because it's only after someone posts negative things about Three Dog Night and their 20 plus year run since Chuck Negron left the band that people take an opposing view, which seems to anger Chuck Negron fans.

  • starts at 2:50

  • Sometimes you got to let it flow with these guys...Chuck, Cory and Danny WERE Three Dog Night...and always will cement this band...so for the "I hate Chuck fan club"...listen to "Easy To Be Hard" and chill out

  • Michael Allsup was just as much Three Dog Night as Cory and Danny -- just because he didn't sing...

  • as was Floyd Sneed, Joe Schermie and Jimmy Greenspoon.

  • Without a doubt. The sound had just as much to do with the vocals. But I suppose the majority only care about the "front men."

  • Chuck recorded "Easy To Be Hard" in one take. But..... have you heard him lately? Too many years of hard living and drugs have ruined what he had. My opinion only.

  • You can call it your opinion, but it's the truth. It's even sad that a casino nearby had Chuck as the headliner and then canceled only to be replaced by who -- Three Dog Night.

  • And I bet the people who paid to see "Three Dog Night" didn't even know they would be seeing "Two Dog Night", without Chuck doing all the songs he sang lead on.. Rough Business.

  • Go to a Chuck Negron show. You get to hear him sing 'Liar', Eli' 'Shambala' 'Never been To Spain' etc... , arrrgggghh. Not pretty.

  • I LOVE 3 DOG NIGHT!

    But......

A few segments sounded like Star Wars. When you have something great, don't mess with it.

  • Capability Brown does a better version

  • Blame the Moody Blues for it. They started a trend of using big orchestras to fill out their sound.

  • blaming the moody blues on 3 dog night? moodies used an orchestra from the start as part of their sound, not to fill out their sound

  • @planetjanet2 Not exactly true...The Moody Blues used an orchestra on Days Of Future Passed, but on their next EIGHT albums, in their "classic" period, they did NOT use orchestration. What they DID have, was Mike Pinder (The Master) playing mellotron, with occasional cello being played by The Moodies themselves. In fact, most of the "strings" you hear during the song parts on "Days" were made by Pinder on the mellotron, with most of the orchestration being the "interludes" and intros...

  • I HEAR SKIPPING,

    TSK TSK!

  • Chenk out the original Argent version on Youtube- great vocals by composer Russ Ballard and jazz piano by Rod Argent.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Great arrangment by the orchestra! fantastic!

  • Danny Hutton, your still sexy,Love you.

  • Great band! Chuck who????

Saw Chuck a few years ago, held up the show for almost 2 hours cuz his sound equipment was different than the opening band's. What a prima dona..... I'll never waste my money or time again.

These guys are a class act!

  • skip the first third of it

  • GFR & TDN rrruuulllzzz 4 ever inspite of dat Roc & Rol hUL of SHAME! Those Peeps R jus plain old "Dumm-Politics". =0{

  • This is amazing.... It's a tribute to a great american band....they never talk about the 3 front men and fantastic musicianship of these guys...yes mike is awsome. I met then sans chuck amd worked with the guys 2 moths ago.......a true gerat moment

  • Michael Allsup is a truly underrated guitar player!!!!

  • Frankly, they are all underated! They need to be in the Hall of Fame!!! Whats the hold up MusicDude? I know you don't know either but it should just be a given!

  • to sign the petition?

  • I did sign the petition. Did you? ZiggyTubeYou said it probably doesn't matter , but I did it anyways

  • I also signed the petition for Grand Funk to be inducted...but even if bands like these never get inducted, that's fine w/ me...I don't think I would like to see these great acts along side artists like Madonna and Grandmaster Flash. Like I said earlier, the R&R HOF is a joke!!!!!!

  • petitiononline

  • It's too bad he was overshadowed by the three vocalist. Even their original drummer was outstanding compared to most. By the way, I write this on Sept 7 and will be seeing them this afternoon.

  • i saw them tonight! it was fricking awesome!!!!

  • Fricking.............................

  • hey! he sounds good too!
