  • Nile Rodgers is hot!

  • sorry guys way off ...was thinking of "we all are one" Jimmy Cliff

  • is it just me or is there a song out there with a similar hook ???....any ideas...im thinking reggae??..

  • we - are - faaamily - oh wait!

  • i want your love give it to me

  • No one could guitar scratch like these guys...and for all those saying the 70's rocked and today's music sucks...well think about it... Is there a Time-Life album for the 90's?? Or 00's?? 60's...Yeah, 70's... Several of them... 80's? Yup. It's not just " things were better when we were young" like our parents would say, it's really true...everyone had a job back then, and could afford a hell of a lot more without credit card debt too!!

  • Remember when R&B had class, stlye, and substance like this? Makes you sad whe you look at what popular music has become today.

  • what a track...

    oh gosh

  • God Bless the 70s!

  • Shame had a pretty awesome soundtrack

  • This song brings back great memories of the seventies and disco balls.

  • classic

  • Best Disco Group.....EVER!!!!!!!

  • I like this song, but i thought i was going to see "Give me the night" by George Benson

  • Thanks for uploading this great video!

  • Bernard Edwards is locking that groove Down!

  • Chic, Donna Summer, Sister Sledge and the diva of disco Slyvester (check out "you make me feel mighty real") were some of the pioneers that helped make this era big

  • @summersbr1 Instead of BURNING disco they should have burned rap,hip hop,Justin Bieber,American Idol and new MTV instead...including Kesha,Britney,Beyonce,Christina Aguilera and all that garbage with NO talent

  • @mrfrogbutt1, I agree. What is passing as talent today is a huge joke. Hip hop and Pop are the dominate acts today and the talent pool in those areas are lacking seriously. I've always said that we would be hard pressed to find anything today that will become the classic of tomorrow. Is Lady Gaga, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, Chris Brown and others considered the top of todays talent pool? Give me Patti Labelle, Sade, Marvin Gaye or Elton John any day

  • @summersbr1 I must say that somehow that GaGa at least plays an instrument and writes. Unfortunately, when I look at the past and see the greatness of Chic,Labelle,Stevie Wonder,Prince, The Stylistics to mention a few...it's hard to see that fire in today's acts much less much talent to create an amazing and impacting body of work. I can see a great sense of phonyness in today's kids...mostly all studio inventions and no actual artistry or musicianship of any kind.

  • @mrfrogbutt1 this was real music.every member of the group played an musical instrument.no samples no beat machine.real singing, no autotune. I love the old songs better than the new stuff that is enhanced by computers

  • @summersbr1 That Sylvester was such a sensation and an innovator with his amazing voice, delivery and passion not to mention his own flamboyant artistry! Talk about having BALLS to be himself and giving his gift....how he and artists of his caliber are missed

  • Some people have expressed a dislike for disco in its day, but the music has lasted close to a half life time ago. They are now using some old disco tunes for commercials.

  • I only came here because I heard the song in Shame. Such a cool song.

  • It's "2012" Enough with all of the Circus Performers. Bring back real music!

  • Fantastic! A classic...listen to the beats!

  • saudades dos anos 70 e 80 épocas inesqueciveis

  • That Bass is Bad Ass!

  • Bons tempos. Eu era feliz e não sabia...

  • This cool sexy and totaly decadent and i love it becose of that, it make me want to take a time machine to studio 54 to 1977 and meet up with a woman with a ,stange european accenet and and just liveing for pleasure

  • Bernard Edwards RIP

  • the lead singer is finer than frog hair

  • Everyone points to Rihanna and Chris Brown as good "black talent".... Pleeeeasssee!!

    This is it right here!

  • The bass and guitar lines are so locked in....Great rhythm, bells, singing, and swirling horns.

  • The 70's for great Rock, Great Disco/Funk /Soul, Great Pop

How fortunate to be growing up in those days

  • Thanks disilusion new york city sang I'm doing fine now m bad

  • THATS WHEN I WAS COMEING UP..

  • Bernard Edwards is one of the BEST Bass players I heard.Smooth

  • The two singers are sooo fine!! especially the one on the left!!

  • Classic. excuse while i put on my boogie shoes.

  • BUEN TEMA DE 1978.-

  • 1978 and 79 Rocked!!!!!!!!

  • one of the greatest song i ever heard in my childhood in the seventies. perfect arranged.

  • They use to be called new york city didn't they

  • @626reno big apple band.

  • Those ladies had CLASS!! Now all I see are women walking around in public in pajama bottoms, a hoodie sweatshirt, and slippers. I need a time machine!!

  • Ike Turner's son on the Bass Guitar

  • De lo mas grande de la musica disco!!!! Genial.

  • "Wow!!! back when we had real grooves and the Music was "Pure" oh well at least I was around to enjoy those days in the 70s...I really cannot Imagine what it would have been like for me not to have this era of Music in my younger days...as well as the Music of the 60s and 80s as well...the 90s were ok as well...oh the memories."

  • They looked great!

  • ONE OF THE BEST SONGS OF THE 70'S

  • What a Groove!!!!

  • Shame !

  • Aroha......Absolutely Gorgeous Killer Tune

  • I think Luci Martin is beatiful.

  • Perdón, me rectifico: 31 años.

  • Hace 41 años cuando las FM comenzaban, esta song, hizo furor en esa época.

  • I remember being in 6th grade and the "Disco Blows" t-shirts. lol.

tell you one thing, people who partied in the 70's did it best.

  • that bass line is nuts!< love it,

  • I want to be as cool as Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. Except I'm white, fat and middle-aged. Damn

  • Great song...but too much attitude in that video.

  • Disco is alive and well! disco forever and ver and ever!!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if Moodymann brought you here :')

  • Now why can't they come out with music LIKE THAT nowadays...oh, yeah, I forgot, TALENT no longer exists! lol Those days were divine! Great music, cool people, simpler days...miss 'em!!

  • It's a pity that Mr. Edwards is no longer with us; Died of pnemonia in 1996. He was one of the best bassists in R&B. There will never be another like him again. At least we have stuff like this to remember him by.

  • Freakin' awesome. Bernard edwards displays matchless musicianship, but his dancing....WTF gives?!

  • Not a sequencer or computer in sight.

The skill level of musicianship and arrangement is ridiculous.

  • ABSOLUTE CLASS!!!! Something that today's artists like Ga-Ga (and others) will never have!

  • @mrob75 EXACTLY!!! ;)

  • @mrob75 gaga is a birth thru the ass...not artist...its lowest crap...gaga an artist LOOOOL bah i even feel dirty when i spell this name

  • @MrWilhelm76

I couldn't agree more. It's 2012 and GaGa, and all the rest of those no talent singers need to stop it. The singing today should be all of that and more. But it is the worse mess I have ever heard. Chic and other groups like this had style, class and talent. The music and the lyrics went perfectly together. Today Ga Ga, Rihanna, Beyonce and all the rest have to do circus acts to keep the crowd entertained. Their voices are horrible.

  • @mrob75 At least gaga can sing and play piano, Katie Perry and Britney Spears can't.

  • @mrob75 We DONT have any artists left! All you have is rap crap,Beyonce crap, and American Idol Bieber trash to fill the oceans with toxic

  • Bernard Edwards bass line is just NASTY!

  • The movie Shame played this great song!!

  • LOOK AT NILE RODGERS & BENARD EDWARDS GO!!!! CHIC CLASSIC MATERIAL!

  • Very classy song sang by classy women and band. WOW!

  • Classic! Still listening to this in 2011!

  • great tune one of the best of 2000 /2001

  • @dirtyface091 this song was recorded in 77 or 78

  • @walter4092 It was 1978, What a great time, what a great memory!

  • MY GOODNESS THAT BASS IS ORGASMIC

  • @FezTickle

    BETTER THAN VIAGRA . . .

  • These guitar scratches...OH GOD!

  • Great song! Thanks for posting friend. maurice

  • good musicians, chic music still sound good

  • Great band and great music.

  • They need to ban some of the awful music I hear from commercial artists today! God! Save our ears!

  • the 70's 80 's and hell 2011 are better for having chic in all our ears !!

  • timeless, real music, I too am bored with the tedious rap treadmill that I remember from the mid 80's and the legacy of wilful illiteracy that has been foisted on the youth of today, who think any two words ending in the same few letters make a rhyme, at least this music has some 'soul' in the true sense of the word.

  • Miss you Chic. RIp Bernard and Tony.

  • Disco got the last laugh. It is still played on radio stations today after nearly 35 years. I heard this song at a fitness center yesterday. Some may say it is trash, but it has stood the test of time. Today's music will be completely forgotton 30 years from now.

  • @akear WELL PUT!!!!!!!!!!

  • @akear You're right on. Disco is making a comeback, they just don't call it that. Listen to some Maroon 5 (song = makes me wonder) and you'll see what I mean. :)

  • @akear Disco didnt die it evolved.... House/Club, R&B even the start of HIPHOP was off Disco

  • @noirnoticvibe hiphop is still disco. they sample disco songs all the time.

  • @akear well the music of today is sampled from 30 years ago. what they gonna do in 30 years, sample a sample?? no, they'll still be sampling this stuff...it is classic. how can you sample beyonce? her music is just copies of other people's music and styles. her look is even copied from others. you are right, in 30 years music of today will be forgotten.

  • @akear I highly doubt that. you sound like a loyalist to a certain period. a true lover of music would embrace music from all generations, not from some decade. sad we have people like you who grasp a certain decade and hold onto it for dear life. I enjoy music from today, the 90s, 80s, 70s, classical, etc...

  • @akear It blew me away to see them playing real instruments. I wasn't expecting to see violins.

  • @akear I agree. I did the right thing by going through my Grandmother's vinyl stash when I was a kid. Twenty years later and the music from this era is all I listen to!

  • @akear Most of it won't be remembered in 30 days, let alone 30 months or years! Infectious bassline + soaring strings + memorable melodies = musical longevity

  • @akear

    Who says its "trash"?!?!?!

This stuff is seen as classic.

Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson were three of the BEST musicians of their generation.

Try playing some of their licks on the guitar, bass or drums some time!

  • Comment removed

  • @akear Hell yeah amen!!!!! The classics are still in bro, and the 80s' wern't trash....The songs playing on the radio today, now that's trash if you ask me.

  • @akear The people who call this trash are those who missed the boat and have NO CLUE what great music is....

  • @FireitupBedford I totally agree with you, people who say this is trash have no soles and are totally up there own backside musically and no concepe of good music or life they tend to be life haters,

  • i hate hip hop and always have since the late 1980s. i always hated the black girl groups of the ealry 1960s but disco i always liked.. eminem belongs in a clown act at a circus full of freaks if rap didn't come along and be artificially supported by hollywood black people would have came up with something decent even though it would not have been as good as white music. late disco era was the only era where bands fronted by black people had an edge over most other artists.

  • @The096757 What a loser!!!!!!

  • @ipisking

i should have said disco artists had an edge over other artists as a collective whole during the late 1970s even though many had white producers which is why this music will not get credit but hip hop slop will.

nile rogers was one exception where everything he made back then turned out good. then he hooked up with madonna in 1984 because he made more money with a white woman trying to sound black.

  • Check out Nile Rodgers book Le Freak, you will gain a better understanding and appreciation for Chic and how they made so much great music that can still hold it's own in the 21st century.....awesome book!

  • Fuck the 33 idiots born with out good taste.

  • They should all be so proud to be a part of this.

    RIP Tony and Bernard.

  • I can't imagine what it would've been like hearing this music at Studio 54!! I would've given anything to be at least 21 back when this came out (instead of being seven lol) so I could live to tell what happened in that night club! Prob would've made my club-hopping days in the 90's seem like a trip to the zoo!!

  • Vanessa L. Williams is joining the new Chic for an album and tour.

  • A beautiful, well orchestrated song, I was about ten years old when this song came out and I still love it. :)

  • issey miyake clothes? excellent

  • That RARE is better than some plastic HD!

  • Bernard Edwards was his name, babonbass51!

  • This song is killer. One of the best songs ever made in history.

  • @conceptmk4

I hear you on that one! I agree! Every time I hear this song, it's like hearing it for the first time! I'll never get tired of this song, or music like this! Simply timeless!

  • @conceptmk4 Preach! Those bells are fierce! And the bass line? Forget it!

  • probably one of the best disco songs

  • Justin ..who?

    And yes, this blends!

  • this is totally utopian. pop music by and for adults. Bernard Edward kills the bass and it's very nice to see Niles rocking the same Dan Armstrong guitar that Greg Ginn was shredding with Black Flag around the same time...

  • Muchas gracias por colgar y compartir este video ya que son los mero mero de mi juventud...

  • Great song!!

  • That bass is just monstrous. FUCK.

  • top tune.hell yeah!!!

  • i put a mix up on my page with a 2 hour 70s mix and Chic is all over it , take a look if ur bored :)

  • One of the classiest groups of ALL TIME. Thank their Good Times rhythm for brining RAP into mainstream America too. To all the young brothas and sistas out here. Pull your pants up negroes and comb your hair. Lets' start acting like gents with class again. I think our women will take notice and change their attitudes about us. Ladies, take the weave out and just be proud of what you have. Kill the attitudes then I think MORE Black men will want YOUR LOVE. We need y'all. Peace.

  • @palmares77 - THANKS! Standing Ovation!!!
