  • ROCKS

  • Pretty much the only reason to get a DS (plus the 2 SMT games).

  • depeche mode at 5:20

  • One question, please, could you tell me how is this recorded to a computer? Or, more specifically, I just need to know how to connect it, what kind of cable do I need? My DS cartridge is already nearly full of songs, and I want to record some of them to make space, but I can't find any tutorials telling me how to do it.

  • @Johnny123456789x you can go old school and plug into your pc with a 3.5mm dubbing cable. record your real time actions on the ds with music making software that you have running on your pc. plug the one end of the dubbing cable into the head phone jack on the ds and the other into the mic jack on the pc. If you want to hear what your doing on the ds real time get a head phone splitter.

  • Is it possible to export tracks or a mix to a computer from the nintendo ds?

  • @averoc2012 Im wondering the same thing, but I will find out next week, Im getting this

  • @averoc2012 you can take an 1/8 inch cable, plug it into the ds headphone jack, then plug the other end into the mic jack of your computer, then u can record the ds audio in any recording software

  • @hiimtre Thanx!.. It would have been better if there was an option to export it as a file for better quality. But still cool thank you dude

  • bus driving suddenly can be fun.

  • "For the price of some pizza and enough beer to throw that pizza up, you can have a synthesizer." LOL!!

  • Tomorrow I get my NDSi + DS-10. This video makes me happy ... I can not expect :)

  • The guy who made this synthesiser, Nobuyoshi Sano, is the same guy who composed the Tekken 3 and Ridge Racer soundtracks (with others).

  • "wait, what is this... For sale or use in japan only.. Oh shit." LOL Haaha laughed so hard at this! xD

  • Awesome Review...

    Everything you said is true...

  • Great review!

  • HOLY CRAP i want this game now.

  • Great review.

  • flanjer lol

  • someone is a depechemode fan

  • wish there was more drum sounds.

  • @captainclayman You can just get Korg M01. It has 8 pattern and can play more than 1 melody at the same time.

  • Is there any possible way to connect a MIDI cable to this to use an external controller?

  • Thankyou for such a great review - i could still follow to some extent as a novice.

I would love a review of the Korg iMS-20 iPad app... that is if you already have an iPad.

Cheers, keep the good music going!

  • Get,""a.'"Nintendo```3DS.'`Now.',

    Simply"'`Copy'`.&,,.Paste..,

  • @RobbyHamm DONT FOLLOW TK LINKS UNLESS YOU ARE SURE THEY ARE TRUSTWORTHY. I TRIED TO MAKE MY OWN TK LINK A WHILE AGO, AND THE NEXT DAY 36 MEATSPIN WINDOWS OPENED UP AUTOMATICALLY BeCAUSE OF A VIRUS.

  • Thank you for doing such a good job reviewing this and going over all the features/workflow. You totally answered all my questions about it.

  • THATS IT!!!!! Imma go buy it.

  • I just got the DS-10+ and this thing is great. So, even with $129 at WalMart for the DS Lite...I am still getting a great tool for under $150.

  • Fantastic review.

  • Wow, this seems really robust.

  • 7:30 I have the same laptop *3*

  • I want this, but it looks really complicated. If I got one would I learn easily?

  • Thanks for the in-depth review, very informative

  • One of the Best Reviews I've ever seen!

  • Was anyone else thinking he was about to play "New Junk City" from Earthworm Jim at the outset of the video?

  • They came out with the KORG DS-10 PLUS which has many added features, and you can have 8 drums rather than 4. :)

  • This program is just awesome !

You really can do every thing if you take the time !

  • Props for sequencing Depeche Mode's "Stripped" around the 5:25 mark.

  • his voice sounds verry... WAHOUGH!!! like he's about to go HADOUKEN!!! or something :L

  • i bought it in a gamestop store for 10 euros.. and i have to say that it's alot of fun

  • looks so confusig but sound soooo awsome XD

  • omg DM - stripped!!! awesome!!!! XD yet so cute! i want!

  • Sanodg made this. Holy shit. I need this synthesiser NOW.

  • ....great review.....Im looking at something portable for music ideas....this or ????

  • sounds a bit like Ice-T

  • how many songs can u make?

  • This is one of the most professional amateur reviews I've seen on the web. It's great to hear from someone who sounds both confident and knowledgeable. I don't have a DS but I would consider getting the DS-10 just to have another odd addition to my Korg collection.

  • cool!

  • they just slandered nnanoloop D:

  • Ok, who were the two people that disliked this video

  • I think this might be the first time I've ever heard someone in a youtube video say "arpeggiator" and not "ar-peggy-ator." Good show!

  • I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH

  • dear santa...

  • Looks like FL Studio xD

  • Anyway this can be used In a digital audio workstation like FL Studio as a virtual instrument? probably not but worth a shot.

  • lol "for sale and use in japan only, oh shit!" thumbs up if u laughed ur ass off

  • @DrGamerGuy1 XD

  • Really helpful review, these are down to $15 at used game stores.

Nice to have a musicians take, I am a computer guy trying to get into making music for fun, and playing with things like milky tracker, nitro tracker and little sound DJ.

    Thanks again for the review!

  • 21 total sluts, sounds good.

  • You can buy this at Best Buy fir $29.

  • Where can I buy this??!!

  • Exceptional review. Well spoken. Great editing.

  • I love this, it's really awesome!

  • so was he paid by nintendo? or was this just to say how great it was?

  • @Atreyumetal1417 -

This was a review. I wasn't paid by Nintendo to make it - I doubt they'd let me say the negative remarks if this was just an advertisement.

  • @insidesynthesis okay lol i have one question.. is it worth buying?

  • where do u buy this?

  • Like this if you think he sounds like Batman

  • Is the Korg DS-10 a separate system or something you connect to regular ds because i have a DS I....?

  • LOL i got this game TODAY i fell in love OMG

  • there is an audio out for headphones, you can use that to link to your PC. don't forget the setting of the recordprogramma otherwise you don't hear anything.

  • 0:47 - 0:50

what did you say i didn't catch it.

    Something like nanoly?

  • @TheCentification nanoloop

  • didn't even know the ds had this ... dope

  • I LOVE the DS-10. A full sized synth in your pocket! I bought the Nintendo DS just so I could use the Korg DS-10 :-)

  • Oh shit

  • This sounds a bit daft but do you recommand this for real projects?

  • @TheHellbino wherever your creativity takes you. I've used this on many projects and songs and it fits just like any real hardware synth :)

  • I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OK!!!

Sadly I broke my DS(it went SS :), but this will be first in my shopping list for the 3DS!

Actually, Korg please make DS-20(with DS-50 too!!!, I would even buy it separately, from example Nintendo online store as an add-on), for 3DS!!! You could use 3DS's analogue joystick as an Korg pitchbend/modualtion joystick!

3DS has so much more processing power, that perhaps you could make a workstation -like sampler/rompler too, that you could integrate with VA-synth.

  • cool! im getting that for my ds in a few days so i wanted a review. so far im definatly getting it!

  • cool :D with a bit of humour :)

  • does it have odd meter drum sequencing capability?

  • you're a great reviewer... keep it up. I subscribed.

  • For the price of having some pizza and enough beer to throw that pizza up, you could buy a synthesizer. :D

  • i just got this today lol its fun

  • love this game dude! i made a lot of stuff on it

  • Hey! Does it have arpeggiator??

  • I got Korg DS-10 Plus for $20 at the local best buy. Best 20 bucks I ever spent :D Also, great review, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's deeply impressed by this little piece of software.

  • The new version allows for real time editing in song mode.

but....I wouldn't record anything with this fun dual ms-10 emulator over a working production, the sound engine sounds abit too plasticy and digital more often then not. However, I bet this would be fun to use in a live setting.

  • I think my microKORG has a new partner in crime.

  • It looks like it's really hard to use. I think I'll get it anyways though

  • @MooMooCow95 It's really not hard to use at all. I pretty much mastered it the day I bought it.

  • Great review!

  • Thank you for the great review! I became curious, bought the Korg DS-10 and had been happy with it for weeks. But soon the lack of memory (only 16 Patterns to save per Song) was a little problem.

So I am using now additionally the DSiWare "Rytmik".

(it's the european version; USA and Japan are coming soon)

For me it's besides the Korg DS-10 PLUS an enrichment in the DSi-Music-Software-Collection.

  • Hey my korg ds 10 synth isnt workin on my ds. I t just comes up a load of Asian Lettering and i can't do anything. I got it on a torrent site if that makes a difference?

  • @ooohmyhead no shit it doesn't work then

  • how do you make the song slower at the end, when I went to 100 it went faster

  • Thanks for this. Also, your voice is amazing.

  • Very cool. I'm definitely going to look into this. Good video review too, thanks for stepping through all the features.

  • can someone please upload the user manual of Korg DS-10? the one packed with the game card. Send me pm. Thanks

  • can someone please upload the user manual of Korg DS-10? the one packed with the game card. Send me pm. Thanks

  • korg ds 10 or korg ds 10 plus...which is better???

  • γαμαει!!

  • it's like FL studio for DS :D

  • What is this? 'For sale and use in Japan onl-' oh sh**

  • your reviews are amazing! <3 depeche mode!

  • great review. i knew nothing about this software but now i know i need to have it.

  • can u record the songs you made onto pc or laptop?

  • @TellTaleLie - Sure - you just use a 1/8th inch stereo audio cable, and plug it into your PC or laptop.

  • can you export to mp3?

  • @LSmith92360 - You'd need to record it to a computer, and then convert the file to an MP3.

  • 5:00 - Enjoy the siiiiiiiileeeeeeeeeeeence. ^^

  • @insidesynthesis were can i get this ?

  • huh? °_°

there is an european documentation available? where can i find it please?

  • @pete42do im guessing you use the headphone out and convert to a quarter inch and plug it into a recording device.

  • Really terrific review, very detailed.

  • Nice review and nice DM track choice. ;) Thank you.

  • Sanog the videogame composer of Tekken and Ridge Racer do some demo with this cute stuff ^^ !!!

but the Korg soft for Ipad from apple is more ambitious with the multitouch stuff, it's more like using a real BAR ^^

  • I have an pretty important question: how would you go about transferring files to a computer, if at all? If you have a dsi or XL could you, perhaps, save a file to an sd card and then transfer it to a program on your computer through a reader? or is there a way to directly connect the ds to a computer? I would greatly appreciate if someone can answer this question.

  • @culo9999 You have to record the sound out of the your ds headphone jack. Shouldn't be too hard at all. Have a computer with a line in, connect your ds to that and use some recording software and bam your done. Or use a line in a digital video camera than send it to the computer and extract the sound.

  • @GXSCChater oh thanks a lot, as you could probably tell, I'm not too technologically savvy. I really appreciate the help.

  • I have a question that's probably really stupid:

How can i record what music I;'m making with it to, say, a computer or anything else that can save these kinds of things so i can later edit them in a program such as garageband?

  • I agree with you, selecting the number of bars in each pattern and being able to select between 1/4notes, 1/8notes and 1/16notes, playing with the legato it would be AWESOME.

  • This convinced me!

    Im so buying this game!

  • DM on the DS... love it!

  • AWESOME review dude thanks!!!

I going to buy a DS and this now...there are really NO other handheld music devices like this (I already own the QY-70...it's too big to travel with).

    Thanks!

  • I just bought this game yesterday, and it's AWESOME. Got it for 20 bucks. Still trying to figure out what everything does though.

  • That's a great review. Like your style.

  • for any countries that don't have it available there is always the R4 card :P

  • how much was it?

  • so, when you have made a song, what can you do with it. Can you play it on your computer?

  • If you record it to your computer with line in or so.

  • Nice review ( also see mine! ) Do give Electroplankton a chance - there is interesting music to be made with some of the modules that is far from "canned"

Also the Scales can be quite useful - Kaossilator like, you can come up with interesting melodies

  • what about LSDJ?

  • Outstanding review - tanks for taking the time to put it together; looks Very Pro.

I saw this game at Fry's in Campbell, CA yesterday for $25 on sale. Might have to pick it up - duh.

  • this is a great review for a great game, but who here thinks itd be cool if you could record vocals? i mean, the ds DOES have a microphone!

  • great review sir looks pretty dope

  • I have to borrow my kids DS and get this

  • I'm completely new to synthesizers, so sorry for this question, but can the settings be tweaked so the virtual keyboard can output sounds similar to a real piano or am i just kidding myself?

  • Not with the DS-10 software, at least not with any sort of realism.

  • I think it looks fun but hard , Maby just me 8p

  • The Roland Sh-201 is said to be the cheapest synth and the best one to learn about synthesizers...

well, IMO the DS-10 is a much better way to learn, and a lot cheaper (and besides sound synthesiz you can practice mixing, step sequencing etc etc)

  • Thanks for the review. I just got mine and I'm hacking away!

  • Do you like it? Does it get boring? I'm thinking of buying one.

  • bonitachika792,

So far it's great. It works really well for my music and I'm not really that good at it yet. I wanna get the expanded one and a DSi later so I can sync them fo rmore sounds!

  • What are your thoughts on the Korg DS-10 Plus which is coming out this month? Do they address your suggestions in any way? Also, how long would you say it takes to get familiarized with the software and what each control does? Seems like a background in sound synthesizers helps a lot.

  • If you're familiar with synthesizers and music software, it's very intuitive and quick to use. I'm not sure how it would be if you don't have that experience; I'd imagine it would be a bit difficult as you'd be trying to learn too many things at once.

  • if u dnt know how to use a keyboard and u want to learn how will this teach u or it wont?

  • The DS-10 doesn't have any tutorial information in it, so you pretty much need to know the basics of sequencing and programming synthesizers.

  • can you sequence the synths ?

  • There are step sequencers for the 2 monosynths, plus for the drum machine.

  • wow, really informative review. this makes me want to get this now.

  • xiu xiu uses this

  • Thanks, that was an excellent review from a musician's point of view. Humorous too!

  • Not as good as LSDJ but lots of fun :)

  • Not with the DS-10 software, at least not with any sort of realism.

  • Lol you're pro xD

  • omg where can i buy this ?

I'm french and i need this fuckin game so much :o

  • Check amazon!

  • "For sale and use in Japan Only..oh s__" Lol! haha but It's now already released here n_n

  • theres a new verson of this game coming out this month on the 19th. its called korg ds 10 plus.

  • DAMN, looks cool! Would be perfect if you could hook it up to a real keyboard...

  • i cant wait for my Korg ds 10+ to come later this month :o)

  • Me too! Unfortunately I'll only have 2 synths and 4 drum tracks 'cause I don't have the DSi, but whatever. Gonna mess around with this so hard.

  • So you don't get all the other parts if you don't have a DSi?

  • Thanks for the review. I'm new to electronic music making in general (have played guitar and trombone casually since I was a kid) and the DS-10 cart is a marvelous toy. The documentation seems too spare to me, so it's good to have indepth videos like this one to demonstrate what I can do with the software.

  • Funny how I got two thumbs down because I knew the song "Stripped" from Rammstein before the Depeche Mode one.. as if it was my fault! Hey, come on, you don't CHOOSE to listen to the original of a song before a remake/remix of one! ;)

  • rammstein's stripped > depeche mode. everthign better by rammstein! >:O

  • HAHA!!! stripped!

  • japan only.... .__.

  • NOT Japan only. I bought my copy of DS-10 locally and the manual is in English.

  • a tutoirial woulda been nice, but its good working stuff out yourself too

  • this is just like fl studio just in a nintendo ds thats awesome!!!!

  • LOL AT END!

  • What's the song at 5:28 ? Reminds me of Paul Van Dyk - For an Angel but...

  • It's "Stripped" by Depeche Mode

  • Hey thanks!

Hehe I knew I heard that somewhere... Rammstein - Stripped!

  • but does it have a VOCODER ?

  • Awesome
