Elvis as far as popularity, and the way in which he was able to transform "mainstream" rock n roll is without a doubt the king of rock. But as far as truly revolutionizing the raw sound of rock n roll I feel Chuck Berry was the king of 50's rock in that sense. I commented on a video a while back that it had to do heavily w/ race, and some guy basically told me to f off.
