Thanks for replying about the asparagus. Ok, so that's your third year then. I guess we'll just have to be patient. Did you just plant the one 4x4 bed? How many crown did you put in? We did 2 4x4 beds with 10 crown in each bed. My husband did dig down (to answer someone else's question on here) so those beds are more than 12 inches deep..I'd say they're about 18 inches or so. They seem to be doing fine so far. Two more seasons to go!
Your SFG looks great Donna. Love your kids in the video. You inspired my wife and my 3 kids and now where going to get started on ower own SFG. Will keep watching your videos. Keep up the good work!!! :) Dimitri
@dimitsomiro You will love it!! Do you have the book yet? I always stress to read the book thoroughly first. Make sure you mix the soil correctly (very important!). Happy Gardening!
You inspired us (from last year's video) to try asparagus too. They're starting to fern out now. I thought you couldn't pick until the 3rd year though. I read that picking 2nd year asp. will decrease your future harvests. So we won't pick next year's either. Your garden looks just great by the way. Ours is coming along. I know my husband will want to spruce it up and mulch like you guys did. No more mowing in the veggie garden!
@touchegoddess1961 Yep! Wait till the third year to pick! I could have started clipping mine 1years ago since I planted some 2 year crowns, but I gave them 3 solid years and this is the third! They are awesome!! I would love to plant more. Thanks for watching!
Finally! You're patience has been rewarded. I hope you will keep a rough trach of your yield from that patch. I would love to know how much you get. Congrats.
@robmelnoahzane Yummy! I love fresh asparagus! --- Wish I could harvest it year round instead of just spring!! But, hey, I don't have to do much to it for about the next 15 years!! Now, that is the kind of gardening I like!!! Thanks for watching!
How deep did you plant the asparagus? I would love to have an asparagus bed like yours but I thought they had to be really deep...We'd be munching on those, no jar needed. lol

Look how much your kiddos are learning! Do you homeschool them? What a neat way to learn about the natural world.
