  • cool...

  • Interestingly, "Fake Palindromes" is not a palindrome.

  • mom!

  • I love this song... But I don't really know what it's about to be honest. Anyone wanna help me out?

  • @BlackStarKeepShining It is the last of several songs derived from his earlier work trepanation. It was written about an unusual personals ad he saw. He has made that less obvious in this one, and added several phrases that are almost palindromes (Dewey-Eyed -> Deye-Yewed) in because he thought it matched the nature of the music... and he seemingly thought of them on a long car ride. xD Enjoy!

  • this, is love at first hear.

  • read my review of Andrew Bird and Sufjan Stevens here

    allsoundsmusic.blogspot.com/2011/11/midwests-finest-musicians-andrew-bird.html

  • some lonely night we can get together

and i'm gonna tie your wrists with leather

and drill a tiny hole into your head

  • ... i like long walks and sci-fi movies. this is my life in a song.

  • This song reeks intelligence. I imagine a stop motion video of this song.

  • I could put that violin on repeat all week and be perfectly content...however I would never get anything done because i would be too busy smiling

  • why haven't i discovered him sooner?!

  • @coldplaying776 This this this this.

  • I loved this from the first second

  • I keep waiting for Childish Gambino to rap on something of Andrew's like he did with Two Weeks.

  • Racecar

  • Andrew must come from Ipswich.. you know it is a palindrome of Bolton.

  • @WTFRawrtube i think someone has misunderstood the word palindrome.

  • @hugs4thugs I think someone has misunderstood the reference. I think someone needs a culture lesson :)

  • The fear of palindromes is aibohphobia. Irony

  • @Treehugger22293 thats not true aibohphobia isnt even a word

  • @FruitGod Really? Is humor a word in your dictionary?

  • @FruitGod I guess he was making a fake palindrome then eh.

  • @FruitGod A 'palindrome' is a word that reads the same if reversed. Examples: Hannah, racecar, mum, dad. "Aibohphobia" backwards spells "aibophobia," and so it's a palindrome. It's a joke that aibohphobia is the fear of palindromes.

  • @SquirrellOFC I never said aibohphobia is not a palindrome I said it is not a word, which it isn't.. but yeah I get the joke

  • I've got blood in my eyes for Andrew Bird. <3

  • Why couldn't the word for palindrome actually be a palindrone? Surely the best way to demonstrate exactly what a palindrome is for the English word for it to have actually been one.

  • @ephemeralprotagonist "Emordrome" sounds pretty interesting...

  • Pandora glitches out trying to find similar artists. Love this song!

  • @SamueltheSwift that's pretty awesome

  • Hey uh... I have a confession to make. I'M LOVE ANDREW BIRD.

  • 7 people have real palidromes.

  • @TheDukeFan96 Palindromes arent deseases mate.

  • i just saw him live. having INTENSE withdrawls.

  • 5 people must be on crack or something.

  • Posting to my web site! Andrew Bird is my favorite songwriter. Burn Nickelback at the stake.

    100th comment!

  • best baroque song i've ever heard!

  • So amazing. If it was possible, I would marry his voice.

  • Andrew Bird videos are the only place I've found on youtube where the comments aren't comprised entirely of idiots and foul mouthed 13 year olds. God bless us, every one.

  • Good Lord please know I am not using your name in vein, but please tell me why you gave Andrew the inspiration to make this song only 2:53?? WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • artists that arent completely full of themselves are refreshing...how boring and worn out that routine is....

  • its beautiful. I've met him as well, in stockholm. such a great live performer, such a nice guy.

  • what is this song about?

  • @catvamp13mishka

When you examine it, it's about a murderess on a dating site. Excellent song though.

  • i want andrew bird.

  • He is just so cool in every way.

  • the beginning reminds me alot like the song "the cutter" by echo and the bunnymen...both songs are great

  • I saw him in DC last October, and he closed the encore with this song, and he totally ROCKED THE SHIT out of it. As much as I love the studio version, the amount of energy in the live version almost makes this seem comatose, so it took a while to come back to this version. Needless to say, I have. :P

  • a tribe called mapquest

  • Yes! Yes! Yes! That's the ticket! Mmmmmmhahahghhh...I need a towel.

  • i don't get it

  • this is my fave of his songs by far

  • I'm in love with his music. More please. :)

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

And I love the way he pronounces "monsters" as well!

    know i know your gay

    10:50pmMe

this kinda music is way above your IQ level

    ---

    i win. :)

  • @CrazyBrolly yeah, except that you sound like a complete hipster douchebag saying that.

  • shes got an old death kit shes been meaning to use..

  • i can take the live version

i have to listen to the studio version just to remember what it SHOULD sound like

  • What are your takes on what this song is saying?

  • Comment removed

  • The rhyme is, let's say, beyond forced, but 'good enough' for modern music.

The song itself is good. Surprised me. Live version I just listened was better than the studio version, and I don't see that often.

  • I'm not entirely sure how you got Irish or country from this.

  • that song is way too short, thats why i put it on repeat :D

  • fuck yes

  • @killkill0 You sir, need a new book. Shouldn't judge music by its genre anyway.

  • @killkill0 Lol, your book fails....

  • i want to see him when he comes for Folk Fest!!

  • @angelmandzij winnipeg folk fest? i am! woohoo

  • @rbinski yes, winnipeg. :) i need to find a day pass or something!

  • @Alexb14dod violin

  • What the hell is wrong with you

  • perv

  • it makes you happy, but also angry like "Why isn't everday this spontanious??" i want to run on the sides of the lockers and yell hey at every person that looks in my general direction. i want to go to some european village and go compleatly par-core on everything. like sonic the hedgehog...

  • Lololol. I was always way too jealous of Sonic, 14colplay. :P

  • "We can get together, and I'm going to tie your wrists with leather and drill a tiny hole into your head" doesn't seem seedy at all from his vocals, it seems reassuring if anything. He could threaten an airport and everyone would feel like meditating.

  • I'm definitely a little gay for Andrew Bird.

  • @axehero123 is there a club for that?

  • @axehero123 me too!!!!

  • @axehero123 I sure hope a little is an understatement

  • @axehero123 It's alright son, we all are.

  • @axehero123 Thats the best comment Ive heard in ages hahahaha

  • @axehero123 i think i can safely admit the same.

  • love this song, it makes you feel a certain emotion I can't really explain. It's odd, not happy par say but its definitely different

  • Andrés Pájaro es tan genial ;_;

  • Andrew Bird is SO amazing.

  • this song is freakin amazing!!

though i agree, quality leaves much to be desired :]

  • amazing song <3

    low quality x'[

  • 42,000 views... i swear at least 30,000 are from me. Absolutely obsessed... pure beauty

  • this song makes me want to get high, get some bongos, and go dancing in a field of flowers

  • Tim Tang Test level 10!

  • she's got blood in her eyes for you... it makes me cry so hard...

  • what does it mean? blood in her eyes?

  • hahaha whatever you say man...

  • acid is bad for you, i hope that you stop using acid. good luck ;)

  • its only bad for you if you use it to much. its all about moderation hahah

  • just like littering! in moderation, YEAH

  • boo. bad comparison

  • @kennjad but sometimes, it seems, moderation itself is a common extreme :) :D

  • really? have you done it? i've never had any ill side effects

  • makes me want more acid

  • This song makes me want to go out to the corn fields with a tambourine and a few friends :)

  • This song makes me want to dress up like Maid Marian and swim in algae-covered ponds and make out.

Andrew Bird's music is like J. D. Salinger's books; a lot of people roll their eyes at it, but once you start to like it, you'll fall farther and farther, and go insane, and become obsessed, and won't be able to understand how anyone could do anything but passionately love it.

    Swoon-worthy.

  • My my, swoon worthy indeed

hope i can meet someone like you one day

  • Aw, that comment made my day. ^^

  • Perfect.

Both are amazing artists in their own way.

  • @MwahahaFiresOfDoom

Dead on with the Salinger analogy. He does that same naive-yet-sophisticated turn of phrase. He's the kind of artist who could do any genre and it would be great.

  • This song is too short. XD But, it's great just the same.

  • ii really agree, tis a shame its not longer.

  • Hey its a funny camel nyeheheh

  • i love this song so much(:

  • He can drill as many holes into my head as he wants :3

  • i literally cannot stop listening to this song.

  • aww Andrew Bird is shy!

sorry lol I find him so endearing! I love his music.

  • love the song

  • LOL

  • and he whistles a lot like a bird

  • I know someone who has the name Kate Bird. We didnt make fun of because of her name. We made fun of her cause she was dumb xD.

  • I talk to andrew bird He is really shy, but he is nice

  • how did you manage that? are you friends with him from a long time ago or something?

  • @skimaniac05

I can't speak for Pedro but back in the late nineties and early 2G's it was easy to talk to A. Bird. I lived in Chicago though. I saw him in Tucson about three years ago and he was hanging out at the merchandise table while the opening band was playing.

  • yea i talked to the guitar player after a show in nyc the other night. he was the same way, kinda shy but really nice.

  • how was the NYC show? I went to his Boston show the night after and it was astounding.

  • @PedroMagao Yeah, I talked with him 15 days ago at a show in Granada/Spain and he's still too shy, I could just took a pic with him

  • @soniar4i i talked to him earlier this year, he's shy, and me making corny jokes didnt help.

  • @sleepysson not shy to fatal not shy

  • @PedroMagao Shy and nice, overall: wonderful!! great song. I don't get to stop hearing this song.

  • thermostat.

    (:

  • One of my favourite songs. I love it so much.
