I f I take action and nothing actually happens then at least it was a positive reaction to the confrontational issues at hand and hey it's my time to waste, if I do something and it's not enough then at least I tried, but if I do nothing then that's a gamble with all our futures and that is....... negligence and some may say criminal?
1. causality has not been established between CO2 increase and temp increase, meaning CO2 increase may not be the direct cause of any percived warming.
2. this point i find to be the most important: even if GW exists and is man-made, we by no means have the capacity to predict the consequences of an increase in temp and CO2 due to the unpredictable and complex nature of our climate systems. it is not as simple as saying X amount of temp increase = X amount of ice melt
Intensive and powerful commentary. These are dire times. It is only now becoming a reality to those who lose loved ones and shelter to weather-related tragedy, and a distant reality to those of us secured behind first-world bunkers and buffers. For the generation of Youtube and those like my tiny daughter, the best outcome if we stop it in its tracks still includes the downfall of civilization for at least a century, though likely two. Maintain archives to that the lesson is finally learned.
i'm sorry but we can't stop climate change now, and we can't save ourselves. the world was never going to last forever, we've just now finally done enough to f it up for good. it's sad and it sucks but if i were you i'd spend my time on something that still CAN be prevented, such as the slaughter of dolphins, stuff like that. peace
Everything dies hollybee43 but relative to its age the Earth stands to become a barren wasteland far before it's prime. It only took 2000 years for us (humans) to come about and destroy it. Their was an earth before we came upon this planet, and there will be an earth much after our species dies out.
If the planet dies, we die. If we die, the planet still exists. Realistically we are the problem, and until the last human is culled the planet remains in peril. We're such a destructive species.
Most of this ice will be history, mankind's best hope, is to use the time s'he has, before the sea begins to dramatically rise, to develop cooperative strategies, which aim to balance the global impacts of the damage already done.... and this will most importantly involve peaceful social change, so as to avoid the continued wasteful practice of diverting resource, time and human potential toward petty conflicts of threats, destruction and territorial dispute.

Guess what people. It appears to be colder and I cannot find a kockey stick to play shuffle the al gor ithm.
Global warming is not happening right now if the recent weather reports are anything to go by.
I just tabulated a dataset going back 156 years, not a hockey stick in sight!
