Colby Armstrong is a great hitter, but that's pretty much all he could do in Atlanta. He was a 20g guy at best, couldn't fight, took nights off and in general autopiloted until he could get out of his contract even when the Thrashers were in the playoff race (without Kovalchuk even).

Have you seen the video where Ovechkin goes for Malkin and winds up corkscrewing himself into the ice.

Here's the problem though -- if he doesn't hit the guy, he's going to get benched. It's his job to finished checks, and that was a situation where you go through a guy. Yes it was dirty, and by definition today suspendible, but something that he had to do.

Colby Armstrong is a great hitter, but that's pretty much all he could do in Atlanta. He was a 20g guy at best, couldn't fight, took nights off and in general autopiloted until he could get out of his contract even when the Thrashers were in the playoff race (without Kovalchuk even).
